Are you saying there was no talent on the ‘23 team? I’ll disagree. There was a ton of talent, and they managed to win 10 games by the skin of their teeth based on pure talent. In spite of the coaching. They fell apart at the end of the season because the coaches lost the players.I don’t want him back. He was one of the guys apparently freelancing under Desai to try and pad his stats. He’s not a team guy.LB Haason Reddick’s master plan to request a trade and sign a lucrative extension was an EPIC FAIL
Reddick’s pattern of business is not one to be proud of:
Requested a trade after posting 27 sacks in two seasons with the Eagles
Gets traded to the Jets without agreeing to an extension
Lost about $12.2M during his seven-month holdout
Returns for 10 games and has career lows in tackles (14), tackles for loss (2), and sacks (1)
His former team, the Philadelphia Eagles, wins a Super Bowl without him
His market value in free agency is at an all-time low
Which is why the Eagles should bring him back on a "prove it" deal.
Watching the D play so well this year really drives home the importance of guys buying in and communicating well. The communication was the real difference that made them so dominant this year.
Yeah it was communication. 2024 had nothing to do with getting CJGJ back instead of having Kevin Byard or replacing James Bradberry, Avonte Maddox, Nick Morrow and Zach Cunningham with Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Zach Baun and Nakobe Dean.
You add 2 rookies (CBs no less), a guy that came from NO who was a ST ace and role-player and give snaps to an undersized LB that hasn’t really seen the field due to injury and struggling to beat out mediocre talent. And, all of a sudden you have one of the top 5 Defenses of all time? That’s coaching.
Watch the film and watch the communication between these players. Carter motioning to Smith to pull stunts. Baun motioning to Coop to pass off coverage, or Coop passing off coverages to the 2nd level. It was elite and they were all playing on the same page and executing Vic’s plan. Nobody was highlighting, chasing stats- they just “did their job” like Belichick always taught.
This year’s team was more talented than the ‘23 team, sure. But the real difference was the coaching. If Vic had been DC in ‘23, do you think we collapse late season like we did? Hell no. Makes me resent Gamnon even more.
Would the team have collapsed under Fangio as DC? Yes, because there was a true lack of talent on the back-end. They couldn't stop anyone in the pass game.
