2025 Philadelphia Eagles - We owe you one, Cleveland! (8 Viewers)

And there's our developmental QB. Looks like we definitely were going to take Sanders before Cleveland moved in front.
Not buying it. I think that was put out there to try and get more in trade for the pick, maybe even from Cleveland. Browns may have just found a more reasonable price from the team in front of the Eagles.

maybe? I dunno. We went QB shortly after and Shedeur woulda been great value.

No way Howie publicizes his intentions if it isn’t to drive up a price. It wouldn’t surprise me if Howie wanted McCord there and used a Sanders leak to secure him.

Some tweets on Powell-Ryland:

I had the Eagles selecting EDGE Antwaun Powell-Ryland with the 134th overall pick in one of my mock drafts.Philadelphia ultimately landed him with the 209th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Antwaun Powell-Ryland was drafted in round 6 pick 209 in the 2025 draft class. He scored a 9.18 #RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 168 out of 2029 DE from 1987 to 2025.

Antwaun Powell-Ryland is another great value pick for the Eagles and I had him marked as a Fangio guy. Undersized for an EDGE but his technical level at the position is elite. Violent tackler, elite with his hands, and gets great leverage when rushing. Love it

The Eagles do it again. Antwaun Powell-Ryland was one of my favorite players in the ACC. He constantly got to the quarterback. He found his groove the past two years at Virginia Tech with 24.5 sacks (16 sacks in 2024-25!!!)

Howie Roseman takes Antwaun Powell-Ryland. Should be illegal. #NFLDraft

The nfl letting powell ryland fall to the eagles is just not fair. Last yr jalyx hunt.

Powell-Ryland all the way down to the Eagles in R6? Had him going in R4, surprising.

With the 209th overall pick, the Philadelphia Eagles select Antwaun Powell-Ryland He was 3rd in NCAA in sacks with 16.0. Only behind Mike Green and Donavon Ezeiraku. Production type of pick.

Dude **** the eagles wdym they got Antwuan Powell Ryland

Love all the picks other than the very last one.
The last one?! Massive steal.
I mean I hear ya. From what I see ELITE speed, but smaller and a one year wonder after doing nothing for years at Florida.

But I mean it’s still a 6th round pick so odds aren’t great to begin with. Overall a very satisfying draft.
Misused by coaches he was an LB that transfered to VaTech and became an Edge

BJ Mayes Texas A&M CB UDFA signing

Overview

Mayes is a nickelback with good size and toughness, but he will likely be scheme-dependent due to his lack of top-end speed. He is instinctive and processes fairly quickly when working between the route and the quarterback’s eyes. He’s average in matching route breaks and will lose the footrace downfield if matched up in man coverage. He’s at his best when playing forward from a shallow zone, where he’s very capable of making plays on the ball or stepping downhill and supporting the run. Mayes has the talent to compete for a roster spot in an NFL camp.

Strengths

  • Gives a committed redirect of the route from press.
  • Good feel for expanding his zone with the routes around him.
  • Features no wasted steps and a twitchy burst to close on throws.
  • Reads the quarterback and shades his zone coverages underneath.
  • Will step in and strike the pass-catcher with jarring force.
  • Breaks down and gathers his weight as an open-field tackler.

Weaknesses

  • Athletic profile does not stand out.
  • Will struggle to stay in-phase with deep routes in man coverage.
  • Inconsistent in locating the football once he falls behind.
  • Average acceleration from his lateral transitions.
  • Appears as if he will be scheme-dependent at the next level.

Tyler Warren did nothing for years at Penn State.

Anyone have concerns around our RB depth? Behind SB of course.

As far as the draft goes I’m ecstatic about some and the positions we chose. I absolutely love the defensive choices and the OL for Stoutland to develop. I thought Mondon could have been a 2nd round pick and think he can even start and be productive. Howie’s growth has been amazing and I’m so glad we stuck with him.

Andrew Makuba you are an Eagle!!! Texas Safety plays like CJGJ!!!
Love this selection as well. Not as big as I’d like but a good ball player with some speed. Love the position selection

Glad they got a safety, not comfortable with Sydney Jones back there, I would have went Watts though.
Code:
C. J. Gardner-Johnson
Houston Texans
Position: Safety
Personal information
Born: December 20, 1997 (age 27)
Cocoa, Florida, U.S.
Height: 5 ft 11 in (1.80 m)
Weight: 210 lb (95 kg)

I like Makuba's speed. Will be a nice compliment to my favorite Eagles player in Reed Blankenship. I still find it wild that Reed plays FS and ran a 4.58 at his pro day. We all know he is out there for his mind and sure tackling, but he needs some speed compliment.
He is exposed in coverage at times but Reed is a perfect example of having just enough talent coupled with the value of instinctive play/film study and a DC that puts him in the best position to succeed.
And a player who can excel when surrounded with enough parts. Being a “system guy” is not a curse word and can be extremely valuable when in the right system.

Tell you what, Fangio has Howie’s ear and I love it.
Same thoughts, as usual. Yeah man! Pay but $$ then DRAFT the consensus #1 ILB round 1. I haven’t seen anyone influence Howie this heavily before and I am 100% here for it. I can only hope we trade up a bit more to acquire a few DL spots and BPA it out. Feels like Mayer/Musgrave incoming at TE
Ya, I think Howie is a bit more easy going after the 2 recent Super Bowls, and Fangio turned a bad defense into an elite one that one it all. He definitely was in Howie's ear about this guy and when Howie had a shot at incredible value, he did his thing to get it.
You forgot to say VF turned around the defense IN ONE YEAR. VF can draft every player for the rest of his tenure for all I care
When you produce the results your word becomes more valuable. That goes for Howie and Vic. We are in a fantastic spot right now and if we can develop half of these guys the sky is the limit.

Agree 100%. We wanted someone to fall and floated that idea. We have strayed from many players who come with issues like this and I personally don’t think we’d ever pick Sanders.

As far as owners go Lurie has been just awesome. Basically, he has been hands-off the football stuff he knows nothing about while making sure he brings in people who do. He could have bailed on Howie during the Kelly fiasco but, did not. That has been the single biggest reason the Eagles have been so successful and will continue to be for years to come.
