*** 2025 Pittsburgh Steelers: good draft on paper. Back to the Rodgers wait (10 Viewers)

Pretty clear they don't value this QB class that highly. Might be a chance they're just looking for a body to round out the room so they don't have to hold on to Skylar whatshisface.

I'm also taking this all as a screaming beacon that Rodgers has very likely told them what they wanted to hear a couple days ago.

Couple inches taller and he's getting drafted early.

Hopefully Steelers get my guy Charles Grant in the 4th.

Was more a comment on "another guy over Shadeur?"

...although I guess Gabriel is sort of a munchkin. :geek:
If McCord goes before Sanders that will be funny as well.

I think McCord/Howard is the level of dude Pittsburgh's after. Good arm, some other projectible traits, likely won't make many waves being a #3 while they see what happens in the next year or so and eventually move up to be the #2, that they can get on day 3.

They sure appear to be operating under the assumption 2025 is "A-a-ron or Bust."

Not saying I'm happy about any of that, but it certainly seems like the reality as of "Day Three NFL Draft, 2025" anyway.

Damn I really wanted Milroe. We’re going to end up with Ewers :sadbanana:
That would be terrible. Sanders, McCord, Howard all have potential to start in the NFL; Ewers does not. In my opinion only. They're better off trading for Sam Howell since the Seahawks have like 5 QBs now and Howell has started and played well in some games and is young.

I think teams who needed a franchise QB today determined Sanders doesn’t have the talent. And teams who otherwise would have taken him in 2-3 as a presumptive backup decided the outside stuff would not go well with that.

But in the 4th someone should take a risk and I am sure Deion is working phones. Not heard anything but would not surprise me if we took him in 4th and I wouldn’t be mad.

Otherwise I know they like Howard and McCord. Maybe they can get best DB or WR in 4th and then one of those QBs in 5th?

A 4-7 round quarterback is a clear back up. The Steelers already have a back up. They need a starter. I'm sure there is some sort of plan to get one but clearly not by draft.

Maybe they're prepared to go into the season with Mason starting. This is the franchise that let Neil O'Donnel leave to start Mike Tomzac. They had balls you have to give them that.

Dad prolly wants the league to give "open access" to a Sheduer/Shiloh (oh, hey, you need to draft him too) reality show "about their whole careers" or something equally as cringey.

Whatever their circus is, the Steelers already have enough elephants. Camp Prime can go eff a goat at this point.

At the moment the Steelers dont have any QBs signed beyond this season. Thats why they’re going to draft a QB today.

The one they draft may not ever be a starter but you can get capable backups on the 3rd day and every blue moon something more

Nobody wants the headaches that come with drafting a backup QB like Sanders. Imagine your starter has 1 bad game, only to see social media blowing up with his Dad leading the entourage asking why his son is not starting.

Hard pass in any round.
This seems to be the consensus. Not starter material and not the necessary traits (shut up and support) to be a backup.

The thing about Milroe and Sanders is that we don't know that they're not starter material. Either could be the next Lamar Jackson. They've fallen this far, maybe one will still be available next time around. All in all, love these draft picks so far.

Disagree with Schefter’s opinion that Steelers passing on QB has anything to do with Rodgers.

The Steelers obviously do not believe that any of the QBs in this draft are ready to start in the NFL.

OK I get that.

But at a certain point Shedeur is so talented compared to the level of players being drafted around him that it becomes a steal and you really should do it. Actually I think we’re already way past that point.

What if you interviewed him and the takeaway was "kid thinks he is bigger than the team, maybe the league"?

When youre talking a guy without any elite traits, the juice probably isnt worth the squeeze.

Raiders can have him, imo.

I actually like Howard better than Sanders.

I get the feeling that Deion said something to the point of, “If you don’t draft him in the 1st, don’t draft him at all. We will do the UDFA thing.”
