*** 2025 Pittsburgh Steelers: good draft on paper. Back to the Rodgers wait (10 Viewers)

Steelers could always go get Danny Dimes!
Could be the backup. But I assume Vikes try to keep him once Darnold is gone.
I think that like Zach Wilson being out of NY and in a good system could make them into decent starters some day.
I actually agree but keep that opinion to myself because I just assume no one would agree with it.

Counter argument is he could not win the #2 job in Denver. That's fair IMO.

I just think he has tools and youth and we know how difficult a situation he was in that I'd truly be very pleased if he was brought in the mix. That's the most I can go, part of the mix.
I don't think the bold is an accurate assessment at all.

Stidham was re-signed w/ Broncos because he's a cheap backup for life.

Z. Wilson has QB1 upside and wants to pursue a starting QB competition and more money elsewhere. There is nothing to suggest Payton wouldn't have kept Wilson over Stidham.
I’m sorry, I seem to have missed the Z. Wilson redemption arc.

Did he play any meaningful snaps?

Don’t get me wrong - I still roster him in a 12-team SF with deep benches, but I don’t recall seeing him prove himself as a QB1 yet.

I do believe he has talent that the Jets totally squandered, but he still has a lot to prove to speak about him like that, IMO.
The debate is between Z. Wilson and J. Stidham. Neither played meaningful snaps last year

No it's not the debate or what anyone was talking about. Wilson was clearly the third string QB last year. You came on here to tell me my post was wrong when it was without one iota of a doubt accurate. Wilson could not pass Stidham as the backup last year.

You seem intent on wanting to argue just for the sake of argument. Take that act somewhere else, I'm not here for it.
Lol. Whatever.

If you want to form an opinion from thousands of miles away based solely on some depth chart piece of paper then that tells me all I need to know about the quality of that opinion.

I only interjected about Z. Wilson from having watched Broncos every day for the last 25 years. Kind of like Courtland Sutton last year
He was the third inactive QB every week. There is nothing to form an opinion over.

Should be no loss to either of us but will block you now. Like I said not here to argue just for the sake of argument.

Best news I got for Steelers fans is we are going to get an enormous amount of comp picks next year but that draft won't be as deep as this one. I know part of that formula accounts for the players you sign but Dan Moore is going to get paid, might be best OT on the market as hard as that is to believe. Add in at least one if not both of our QB's getting paid, Daniels will have a nice market because G is super weak in this draft and then Najee.

Could/should be looking at multiple thirds. Can see them dealing some picks next year for some draft capital this year on notion they know the comp picks will be coming.

Titans sign OT Dan Moore Jr. to massive deal

1:00 p.m. -- The Titans are loading up on the offensive line. Tennessee is signing offensive tackle Dan Moore Jr. to a massive four-year, $82 million deal, per Ian Rapoport. $50 million of the deal is guaranteed.

They just bought us a third round comp pick.

More to come.

Daniels I believe is going to surprise a lot of people here with what he gets paid.
I wonder if this delays our FA moves. Big signings will cancel out comp picks.
I'm thinking probably not just because I expect the exits to seriously trump what is being brought in.

I don't know what Slay signed for but I'm guessing Wilson and Rodgers won't be that far off should we bring in Rodgers and lose Russ.

So right now it's Slay vs Moore, Fields with Najee(heard Chargers interested0 and Daniels to go with some other minors like Mike Williams. Only thing I think would throw this off is if they paid Rodgers a lot more then Russ.

Cornerback Darius Slay heads to Steelers

2:33 p.m. -- Former Eagles cornerback Darius Slay is signing with the Steelers, per Jordan Schultz.
Maybe they want to give Kenny back? "You take Slay and we'll throw in Kenny."

Steelers deal for CB Slay not done yet, per report

2:58 p.m. -- Despite a report saying that Slay was headed to Pittsburgh, another says that may not be the case. Tom Pelissero says that there is interest there, but that the Eagles haven't officially even released Slay yet. A trade could be in the works, but for now, no deal is done.

If we had not traded for Metcalf I'd rather roll with Fields over Rodgers or Wilson.

If we trade PIckens I'd say the same.

If we keep both of them I'd actually rather have either Rodgers or Wilson instead of Fields.

All said assuming money is right. Also said because I don't prioritize Fields youth as some of you do as in I don't think he's the longterm QB solution.

Here are some of the top free agent quarterbacks for 2025 not ranked:

  1. Aaron Rodgers - New York Jets
  2. Sam Darnold - Minnesota Vikings - signs with Seahawks
  3. Justin Fields - Pittsburgh Steelers - signs with Jets
  4. Russell Wilson - Pittsburgh Steelers
  5. Jameis Winston - Cleveland Browns
  6. Jacoby Brissett - New England Patriots
  7. Mac Jones - Jacksonville Jaguars
  8. Joshua Dobbs - San Francisco 49ers
  9. Trey Lance - Dallas Cowboys
  10. Cooper Rush - Dallas Cowboys
  11. Jimmy Garoppolo - Los Angeles Rams - signs with Rams
  12. Carson Wentz - Kansas City Chiefs
  13. Zach Wilson - Denver Broncos

I could be missing someone. But this list is so uninspiring. Especially now with Sam and Justin signed. I just see Steelers fleeing left and right.

I totally agree with this statement. However, my hope was that the Steelers would have resigned him and he'd of played his way into a long-term solution.

What a sad list. Like little Timmy at the orphanage making a Christmas list, with full knowledge there is no Santa Claus and he’ll never get that life-saving surgery.

Could have tried to sign Fields and he wanted to move on. Takes two.
Can't blame him. The Steelers handled the entire situation poorly last year in their quest to keep the non-losing streak intact. Maybe Russ gave them a marginally better chance to win, but it wasn't worth benching Fields for when he had been playing pretty well himself.

He should never have been benched last year because Russ was never going to make the impact needed for a Super Bowl run. And even when Russ struggled, they didn't even give Fields a chance to come in and provide a spark. If I were Fields, I'd want to be somewhere else too.

they offered no where near 2 for $40m, thats what mattered. Like $20M is a lot for a QB. What does anyone think they will pay Rodgers or Wilson again?
You're making me cringe. I'd almost rather see the Steelers sign cheaper options like Danny Dimes and Jameis and let them fight it out. Wait that sounds too much like Fields / Wilson 2024.

It's going to be Russ
Saw some chatter that the NYG are intensifying their pursuit of Russ. Honestly it's not a terrible fit.

They're also reportedly "zeroing in on Aaron Rodgers as their preferred target." Season of Lies, bro. Can't believe anything until pen strikes paper.

For Pitty, it's gonna be "Mr. Unlimited." Book it! :shades:

Russ doesn't even glance over the middle (artificially limiting turnovers that way), doesn't publicly throw teammates under the bus at the drop of a hat, and gives banal answers to anything anyone asks him about pretty much anything. He's Coach T's wet dream. He's basically "the Mike Tomlin of QBs" at this point.

Artie Smith won't be happy about it, but Tomlin doesn't probably care much about what Artie thinks other than "we wanna run the ball every 1st and 2nd down. You cool? Yeah? Cool."

It's going to be Russ
At least Russ isnt a sociopath. I wont be interested in the Steelers for 2025, but Russ is a good dude, goes to local hospitals to cheer up kids and such. Rodgers just cries on McAfee show.
I'd rather see Danny Jones TBH. Let him have a real team around him. Save a bit of money, spend on free agent DL or CB. Slay hasnt been released yet, so not signing in Pitts, for now.

Russ is certainly a weirdo, but it's a totally different flavor than A-A-ron.

I'm sure Rodgie is consulting a now close friend, Joe Rogan, about his situation right now. :poop:

It's going to be Russ

It is odd that it is taking this long. Was told before the dominos fell that it was Rodgers --- wonder if it is the guaranteed money again.
Vaxxed?
C'mon everyone knows we will have to wait until most if not all signings are done before Arod will spill the beans. He needs to be the ONLY story of the day.

Probably aren't wrong.

If they'd guaranteed he'd be the starter he would have gotten starter money which would be in that ballpark. And I'd have to think he'd choose Steelers over Jets if all else was equal.
