2025 Team Defense & Defense by Committee Thread (4 Viewers)

LAC upcoming games are:
Denver
Arizona
Saints
Browns
Titans
Bengals

Playoff schedule:
15-Tampa
16-Denver
17-Pats
18-Raiders
Would you drop Pittsburgh for them? Or should I look for someone else to drop to hold both defenses. Which I think is wild at this point.

Missed out on LAC, PHI, and HOU. Rats.

For now going with TB D against a rookie QB in NO. Bowles vs. rookie QBs...is there actually something to that? Bo Nix would say different.

Is there any caution to be had with Houston in what feels like a smash start.

They don’t get sacks or turnovers, and other than week 2 have been quite pedestrian.

Opponent of New England and Drake Maye are definitely positives to like, but in another sense with a new QB at the helm this feels like a small trap game.

Just gotta pray for the pick 6 and low scoring. I'm going Texans over my Birds for the reasons basically listed here, the Eagles don't really get sacks or turnovers.

I just can't risk the Birds crapping the bed, and all over my heart. And fantasy teams.

Firing Texans up lets gooooo

Anyone struggling to hold Minnesota through their bye? I’m gonna have to cut them unfortunately.
I’m holding. Missing out on a few flyers due to my QB and TE being on a bye. But there consistency and point differential over other defenses is more than enough to hold for the rest of the year. And their schedule is fairly soft moving forward offensively opponent wise. Other than a few here and there that I can still talk myself into starting.

To go even further on their schedule and why I think it’s a great hold.

Lions: people view Detroit as an offensive juggernaut with the eye test, and I don’t necessarily disagree… but before the Seattle game, they really hadn’t scored many points.

@ Rams: Stafford with potentially no Kupp and Puca, Thursday night game… yes please

Colts: this team is hurting offensively and injuries are still piling up. You almost hope for ARich but Flacco doesn’t scare me.

@ Jaguars

@ Titans

@ Bears

Arizona

Atlanta

Chicago

@ Seahawks

Green Bay

I agree. Streaming never seems to work well for me. If I have a good defense with a decent schedule I usually ride the waive and at least get the larger scoring weeks with them versus the roulette (which I seem to guess wrong at).

Ok yall convinced me to keep them then. Short bench means I’m dropping Wicks and Worthy?? (have Mooney, Tank, Downs, Waddle and Jameson).

Cinci D.

A. Cooper just traded to Buffalo.

This offense was terrible already. Now no Cooper, Ford injured, Chubb back but I'm sure limited. Yikes.
Just putting this out there. Browns RoS schedule:

CIN
BAL
LAC
BYE
@NO
PIT
@Den
@PIT
Playoffs 15 KC
Playoffs 16 @CIN
Playoffs 17 MIA

Cincy's DST has been pretty bad for fantasy, but I'm tempted to start collecting those playoffs DSTs the Browns will face as the weeks go on. Might win someone a championship with how awful the Browns are. All bets are off if Famous Jameis takes over though, since he can sling it.

I got LAC last week, but MIN was dropped and we have blind bid waivers. Any thoughts on if it's worth spending FAAB or just roll with the Chargers?
I would do whatever it takes to get minny. But if you fall short in getting them and don’t bid enough, the chargers are a great consolation prize. You’re not going to go wrong.

Even without PS2, there are zero excuses for the #Broncos defense Thursday night:

• Derek Carr out.

• Chris Olave out.

• Rashid Shaheed out.

• Taysom Hill iffy.

• Alvin Kamara playing hurt.

• Backups starting along the OL.

Expect dominance. Accept nothing less.

Through Week 6, when teams have thrown passes in the end zone against the Detroit Lions this year, they are 1-of-14 (7.1%) for 10 yards, 1 TD & 5 INTs for a 23.8 QB rating.

S Kerby Joseph is the only NFL player to have 4 INTs in the end zone in a season since 2006.

Anyone considering the Saints at home vs Denver on Thursday night.

Other option would be Jets at Pitt but NY just got steamrolled against the run last game. I see Pitt running a ton Sunday night.

Denver and Bo Nix seem to keep getting better, while the Saints seem to be getting worse. I wouldn’t touch it personally. But those are the only two facts I have.

Don't think I could play the Saints after every TB running back went bezerk.

I made a comment up thread about how Detroit had really only had one strong offensive output so far this year and would feel pretty comfortable starting the Vikings. Well, last week’s showing against the cowboys certainly threw that for a loop.

I think I’m still starting the Vikings. I rostered two defenses last week to hold them through the bye, but there was just too much nice waiver options to not go after to do it again. Plus a set of gimpy tight ends that I still have no clue what to do with.

So, I think I’m sticking with the highest scoring defense in the league coming off a bye rested and ready at home. But it’s still a bit concerning. Goff is playing really well, but he definitely turned into a pumpkin a couple times last year, albeit most of those games were outside.

Just be careful with the Broncos. This post is missing one key detail:

Bub Means business!

10-12 team redraft leagues leave 18-20 defenses in the waiver pool many weeks
Grabbed Buffalo at home vs the Titans this week and released the Chargers
Bills are not a sound proof defense but they are way better than the Titans and they have a new toy at Wide Receiver with Amari Cooper
Titans will be playing from behind IMO most of the game, easier for Buffalo to defend

I’ve always wondered what it would be like if you were required to start two defenses every week. I scoffed at superflex until I played it and saw how much more strategy went into rostering QBs rather than just picking some one up off the wire after they showed promise.

It would be an interesting strategic wrinkle for sure. And require people to draft and hold a little more cautiously.

Craziest pitch I've heard to mix up DST strategy is to get rid of individual kickers and add them to DSTs

In my 10 team league nearly everyone holds 2 and one person 3 defenses. I usually stream, but this year I am finding it much harder to find a good matchup.

One league Ive played in you had to start 2 DEF, one was your Run Def and the other was your Pass DEF. Was interesting. Commish had to hand figure the scoring each week. Haven't found a fantasy mgmt site that allows this type of breakout, but it did make certain DEFs even that much more valuable.

Cowboys DST **LONG PLAY**

Is there any reason to believe they will ever get back to where they were at for fantasy?

Even if the answer is, "possibly in 2025", then they're probably worth holding in my league. The scoring settings for DSTs are typical, but way overpowered in my league. Playing this DST weekly was a ridiculous advantage over the competition last year. Perhaps their reign of terror is truly over with all of the money that has been spent on offense? If that's the case, I do need to reclaim the roster spot. Doesn't look like they'll be doing much anytime soon.

I'm currently holding the the Bengals (@ CLE), but Jets (@ PIT) were just dropped.

Worth swapping? I'm looking ahead to next week's matchup too -- CIN vs PHI, while NYJ is @ NE. Waivers are bare so would be nice to get ahead of that.

In Leagues where I have room, I have been picking up the Cowboys D/ST for next to nothing, as they've been dropped over the past few weeks.

When Kendricks, Parsons and Bland get on the field together with Overshown, Diggs and Lewis, they're going to cause some problems for what's left on their schedule.

While the Cowboys currently struggle running and stopping the run, both of those things are addressable. There are quality bench RB's that will get cheaper by the day, and adding those components back to the defense is a rising tide that lifts all boats.

If operating at their peak, the Cowboys pass offense is capable of forcing opposing offenses to play keep-up, engage in low-efficiency plays and take risks that lead to mistakes, sacks and picks.

Plus you add in KaVontae Turpin as, IMHO, the most likely P/K Returner in the NFL to score a TD.

Very few Leagues have Roster room to do this, but in ones that do, it's a dime-store add that could pay off big-time during the fantasy playoffs.

I'm going Saints D heavy this week. You got a matchup of 2 rookie QB's. Denver probably is a good play too. All you need is that one pick 6 to lock in a good week. I'm expecting at least 1 tonight. Hope I'm on the right side.

Weird. Is it just because the Saints are at home? I’d think Denver is the better play tonight, easily.

My thinking is NO offense is going to struggle and DEN going to get a lot of possessions. For DST I would be 100% DEN in this game.

Just my gut feeling and being at home is definitely part of it, Plus, I already added NO this week and Denver wasn't avail :towelwave:
