2025 Team Defense & Defense by Committee Thread (5 Viewers)

I'm looking at Detroit for some reason.
Care to elaborate? I’m struggling for an angle in this awful streaming week, and all I can gather is that Detroit has put up decent fantasy lines against good competition like TB and Zona. Seattle is pretty solid on offense and maybe gets KW3 back. Geno isn’t making too many mistakes and is playing at a pro bowl level. I’d love to know your ideas.

I've got Raiders vs. Browns this week. I picked up Pats to play Miami for next week. Clearly going for the matchups and not the innate ability of the Ds.

Going heavy Tennessee vs the Dolphins. Its gonna look rough the Miami until Tua comes back.
Huntley is starting for the dolphins and has enough skills for them to run a cromulent offense without many turnovers. I wouldnt be super confident in taking Tennessee against them, though I have considered it

He also has enough "skill" to throw a couple bad picks and fumble once, sooo....yeah.

Assuming he winds up somewhere in the middle and makes Tennessee a fine, "boring" start this week.

Raiders down Crosby and Deablo. Plus Adams out means the offense will be going 3 and out a lot. Even against the browns it could be a rough day for the Raiders D.

I know everyone is super worried about my team haha, but I literally played Titans in every single league this week. First time doing this so will see how it plays out.

In play to help decide my matchups in 3 leagues

Need 4+ points in one, 7+ points in another, 16 point lead in the last he's got Walker, I got Titans D.

Thinking I win at least 1 of these...hopefully.

Oh Buccos :lmao:

Gonna regret that one. Couldn't trust them again after they got lit up by Bo Nix and got me 3 points, so of course the DST delivers an 18 point performance against the Iggles. Hadn't scored more than 6 yet this season.

So this week there looks to be 1 move to make if possible. If the Patriots D are free (and they might be after 3 poor fantasy weeks in a row), pick them up. They're playing the Dolphins this week, and in the 2 weeks since Tua went down Miami have helped produce season-best fantasy scores for the Seahawks and the Titans.

As a side note, New England also have a favourable schedule from a fantasy defense point for the next few weeks beyond week 5, though it's still probably worth picking up whoever plays the Dolphins at least until Tua returns (supposedly around week 8).

I learned my lesson starting Buffalo defense last week. But… I still eeked out a win, so I’m not sure I REALLY learned my lesson.

If I don’t get Denver off waivers… I’m contemplating starting them again. :)

I blew 18% of my faab on the ravens dst that someone dropped last week to get off of the streaming carousel. Maybe not my best move, but I was tired of getting the weekly guessing wrong.

Guess I’ll see you guys in a few weeks after a key injury or two changes the effectiveness of baltimore and I’m streaming again.

One thing GMs overlook when streaming defenses is the pressure their team's offenses put on them
When you combine suspect offenses with middle of the road defenses, don't always get he results you want
I would stick with some of the better defenses like the Vikings and or Bears, I play redraft leagues where the benches are short and so no teams carry more than 1 Def/ST
That leaves a lot of defenses to grab based on match ups, the problem is the following week after that 1 match up.
The Seahawks were taken on waivers in many leagues I saw this week, that might be the winner for those looking thru Seattle, New England and Denver as possibilities

The only reason I would shy away from the Seahawks is that they were missing four of their front seven in the Monday night game. Won an over bet because of that when Detroit nearly hit the total themselves!

For me, starting the Seahawks in future weeks would depend on how many of those players they get back from injury.

Excellent points and analysis
I don't think Denver is really anything special.
If you look at the box score for the Bucs game you wonder how the Broncos won
And did I see that Nix was 12-25 for 60 yds the entire game vs the Jets?
Every once in a while you see teams exposed for what they are, not sure the Broncos are any better than the Raiders presently

With Love back, the Packers might be moving into set-and-forget territory.

Nabers and Singletary both on the injury report today.

If both were to miss this game, it would have me salivating at the fact that I missed Denver by a $1 in FAAB and got Seattle as my second place choice.

Debating Vikings vs Jets or Steelers at home vs Cowboys. First glance after Jets debacle last week would be Vikings, but I think they will play better this week and they have far more weapons than Dallas. Viking D may be reeling a bit after that 2nd half vs Love. Dallas is ranked bottom 5 both pass/rush this week. Steelers will be fired up at home for SNF after playing terribly last week. Cowboys have zero rushing offense to fear and Pitt will shut it down. Passing offense has Cee Dee. That's it. Maybe Ferguson. They can blanket Cee Dee, pin their ears back and go after Dak. I smell sacks/turnovers. Leaning Pitt even though my site has Vikings projected to score 6 more points.

I think you have to factor in London to the Vikings/Jets game as well.

Jet Lag (pun intended) and playing in a new/different environment always seem to make these London overseas games a little rusty and wonky and low scoring.

The over under on that game is 40.5 and the Dallas Pitt game is 44.

For what it’s worth, I think it would push me toward the Vikings. Especially since that Jet Lag headline writes itself for ESPN reporters if the Vikings stomp Rodgers.

Next Gen Stats
Baker Mayfield was pressured zero times on 15 dropbacks in the first half, despite facing the blitz on 60% of dropbacks.

Mayfield vs Blitz: 8/9, 91 yards, 2 TD

The Falcons are the first defense without a pressure in the first half of a game this season.

Could the Seattle defense be a trap or am I overthinking this? Even if Nabers and Singletary don't palay, Seattle's secondary didn't force one incompletion against the Lions. I know the Lions are a powerhouse on offense but come on, that's pretty bad. And doesn't Seattle have a lot of injuries as well? I know this looks like a good play but I'm concerned this might be one of those play a subpar defense in a good matchup and get burned. I have Minnesota too and wondering if going Seattle is a mistake. Thoughts?

I have some reservations with all of Sea injuries on Defensive side but the Giants offense does not impress whatsoever and without Nabers and Singletary would fall on Wandale , Slayton and rookie rb to carry the load. I’m hedging by starting Wandale this week but have a feeling Slayton will go off instead because fantasy football

Pittsburgh and Cleveland were both dropped in my league. Should I pick either one up and drop Chicago?
I wouldn't pick up Cleveland for this weekend. And Chicago's got a good match next weekend too. For week 7 I think that's a middling matchup. Honestly, I like Cleveland's schedule a lot more after their week 10 bye. But someone will pick them up IMO.

TB D an option with D. Carr out now? It's either Rattler or rookie J. Haener at QB.

Shooting for HOU, PHI, and LAC, but doubt I get any of them. Looking for a plan B and the likes of the Indy D, Atl D, LV D scare the hell out of me.

I've been largely riding the Browns so far. LAC, HOU, and PHI are all available this week. Are any of them better for a few weeks? What is the feeling on BAL this year?
