2025 Team Defense & Defense by Committee Thread (15 Viewers)

Streaming options available for me this week are Cinci, Minnesota and KC. Maybe Miami or GB if I'm desperate.

Cinci seems to be the chalk pick, but I'm kind of leaning toward Minny because they're most likely to win. On the other hand, looking forward to the next week, there are no obvious streaming candidates. Cinci is on bye and Minny plays Bufffalo, while KC gets Jax (followed by LAC/LAR). So that would argue in favor of the Chiefs, especially if Tannehill sits again

Bills activated CB Tre'Davious White from injured reserve.

It was announced on Monday that the Bills would activate White by Wednesday, so this news doesn't come as much of a surprise. The star cornerback suffered a torn ACL in Week 12 of last season but could have a chance to suit up for the Bills' Week 9 matchup against the Jets. White has been back practicing with the team since the Bills activated him on October 12th.

Bills acquired S Dean Marlowe from the Bills for a 2023 seventh-round pick.

Marlowe played 700 defensive snaps for the Lions in 2021 but has always been more of a special-teamer than anything. But with Buffalo dealing with Jordan Poyer being hurt yet again, as well as Micah Hyde being out for the season, Marlowe might have a shot at legitimate defensive playing time for them in the short-term.

Commanders EDGE Chase Young (knee) was designated to return from injured reserve.

The team will have 21 days to activate Young. He's on pace to return to Washington's starting lineup one year after suffering an ACL injury. Without Young, Washington has what Pro Football Focus has graded as the league's 14th best pass rush.

The most important thing the Eagles' defense has been doing

Jordan Davis’ ankle injury was the lone negative in the Eagles’ victory. How will he be replaced?

Eagles DT Jordan Davis (ankle) won't play in Week 9 against the Texans.

The team also ruled out cornerback Josiah Scott. Davis suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 8 and will almost certainly miss multiple games because of the injury. He was a solid run-stuffer for the Eagles' defensive front. His absence could open up a few extra holes for Texans runner Dameon Pierce.

Eight weeks into the season and Seattle is the 2nd - 7th ranked defense by fantasy points, depending on platform. Are they legit? Their schedule doesn't look bad either.

Defenses that started out bad but are playing better now: NYJ and TEN. Defenses that improved a lot at the trade deadline: BAL and MIA.

DEN just lost Bradley Chubb, but DE Dre'mont Jones just won defensive player of the week, rookie OLB Nik Bonitto is getting more rotation snaps, Baron Browning and Randy Gregory (who had an excellent start before getting hurt) should be back mid-month. Browning and Jacob Martin are both Top Ten in QB pressure percentage. Still plenty of guys to bring the pressure on the Broncos, and Surtain is an excellent shutdown corner.

Looking ahead for Week 10 and beyond.

New Orleans at Pittsburgh looking good.

San Fran is also on my wire. Not a good matchup against LAC but in general they usually shape into a top 5 defense. Thinking about scooping them up for the long haul.

I like the call and would be curious if any SEA fans have any input, have not caught a game this year.
I started the Seahawks over Cincy on a last minute whim. 1FF, 1FR, 5Sacks was pretty solid against a decent Cardinals offense (gave me 13 points in my Yahoo league and 8 in my Sleeper league).

Looking forward to seeing how they do against TB next week, which hasn't scored more than 22 points in the past five games. Will hold them through the bye if they do well next week, because that remaining schedule is pretty juicy.

Anyone else picking up NY Jets while they're on their bye?

I have Patriots so def not dropping them, need Broncos to cover the Pats bye.

Pats / Jets are 1-2 in our scoring format over the last 4 weeks. Don't have room to carry 3 DTs but Jets are legit - did a nice job vs Bills at home yesterday (Diggs has 1 target and no receptions in the 2nd half.)

IND probably the best matchup for any DT this year. NE had 9 sacks, 7 three n outs, pick 6, blocked kick, held them to 121 yards and 3 points. Nice getting 37.50 from your DT lol (best FF pts of the year in our league; Pats vs DET WK 5 was 3rd best of the year.)

Packers EDGE Rashan Gary has been diagnosed with a torn ACL and will miss the rest of the season.

Gary was carted off against the Lions and tests later confirmed a torn ACL. It's a big loss for the Packers, who are now without their sack leader and best pass rusher. Gary will play 2023 under his fifth-year option, which was previously exercised by the Packers and is fully guaranteed. The 24-year-old could miss some time to begin the season but should return to his high-end form at some point next season.

If for whatever reason the Saints got dropped or are on your wire. And you are in a yahoo league.

They are a nice pickup before tonight’s game, as they play Pitt next week.

If you are streaming defense, can add a waiver flyer for your other defense when waivers run.

Exactly what I did with NE on a bye. I noticed NO had a good matchup against PIT. After watching them play last night... well, team overall doesn't inspire me. They do rush well / pressure the QB and play decent D, and it was Lamar, but they gave up lots of long yard plays. Might pivot off of NO to other choices to consider: NYG (HOU), TEN (DEN), LV (IND). Idk yet. Definitely keeping NE in one league and back to just DAL in another.

I'm trying to decide if I want to continue with the Broncos as my 1B to the Pats or take the flavor of the week on the other side of the matchup (Titans.)

These should be available in most leagues and have good matchups Week 10:

Giants vs HOU
Titans vs DEN
Saints at PIT
Cardinals at LAR

NE on bye and yes, these are 4 of 5 choices available. Add LV vs IND. Currently added NO, but open to a change.

Dah --you're right 15-17, so @LAC, HOU, DAL --- so meh

BUF was good to start the year, and with White coming back, I thought they'd be a keeper for the entire year. With the potential loss of Allen, and jnjuries, I'll take a closer look at the work of @BobbyLayne.

DAL set for ROS likely

NE on a bye (definite hold through the bye week)
picked up NO @ PIT
dropped NO just now for NYG vs HOU

Just felt Giants at home coming off a bye refreshed with a winning record.

MIN was (understandably) dropped in league. At BUF this week, DAL next. Thereafter looks solid matchup wise.

Middle of the pack on the season, Top 7 over the last 4 weeks (3 g,)

  2. DT 19
  3. DT 30
  4. DT16

Won't win the week for you, but just a solid option to think about if you find yourself jammed up one week down the stretch.

I’m mulling over trading NE to the first place team for BAL. Much better SOS and they pair perfectly with DEN ying/yang wise. We’re both 7-2 and he is probably gonna ride DAL most weeks. Pats have had a couple monster weeks at home - 29.25 vs DET and 37.50 vs IND.

Have to mask my intentions by packaging the bye week DTs in a trade with position players.

I dropped NE defense today. Schedule is awful going forward.

I shifted away from Seattle to Denver in my main league. I just like the match-up if Malik Willis starts again, or a dinged up Tannehill with a bum ankle. The lowly Chiefs D held Tennessee to 17 points last week, and Denver's defense is supposed to be "elite," even if they don't score many fantasy points. Chubb leaving doesn't seem like it will affect the Broncos too much in what should be a very low scoring game (38.5 point over/under).

If this works out, I'll hold for two more weeks since the Broncos play at home vs the Raiders and then at Carolina and then figure out my playoff plans after I drop them in week 13.

I’m debating between Denver and NO and am leaning towards Denver as well. My concern is that Henry is not stoppable.
