3 week playoff system to determin picks 1-6 in Dynasty league. (1 Viewer)

We have a 12 team dynasty league and our current system of determining the 1st 6 picks in the rookie draft is not working. Here is what we want to accomplish over a 3 week playoff period.

The 6 teams that do not make the playoffs are seeded from 1 - 6.

#6 seed has a chance for the #1 or #2 pick

#5 seed has chance for #1, #2, or #3 pick

#4 seed has chance for #2, #3, or #4 pick

#3 seed has cahnce for the #3, #4, or #5 pick

#2 seed has chance for #4, #5 or #6 pick

#1 seed has chance for the #5 or #6 pick

Is it possible to come up with some kind of playoff format over a 3 week period that could determine this? We want teams to win to earn a higher draft slot or win at least one game to protect thier current draft slot and if they lose two games they would drop one spot.

Does this make any sense? Anyone have any experience with a format like this?

Kind of like the greased pole at the Italian Festival in Hartford, right? I think the only way to go is a points system with the first 2 seeds appointed by won-lost record. No other way to go really. It insures fairness and also has the element of surprise.

We do something similar in my league I'll try to tailor it a bit to your league so you get the idea.Teams are awarded points based on their end of season record. In your case the team with the worst record would get 6pts so...12th Place 6pts11th Place 5pts10th Place 4pts9th Place 3pts8th Place 2pts7th Place 1ptNow you could change this portion to your liking but what we do is award the top 2 finishers with 3 additional points. Team with the most points wins the #1 overall draft pick and so on down the line. Ties are awarded to the team with the lower record. So the best pick the guy with the 7th best record could get would be the #4 pick. Only one of the 3 worst team could get the #1 overall pick. On the other side of the coin the worst a team could do is drop 2 spots in the draft. You could change the points awarded to 2pts and I think it would have close to the same effect you are looking for.Hopefully that makes sense and helps!
