Jersey man charged with terrorism offences

A man has been charged with terrorism offences after publishing bomb-making instructions taken from an Al Qaeda magazine online.

Mark Alexander Harding, 21, of Grouville, Jersey, was arrested in the parish by police on Friday 3 October.

He was charged in the Jersey Royal Court on the same day and has been remanded in custody pending his next court appearance on 31 October.

The offence relates to unlawful activity on the internet.

Mr Harding is charged on two counts of the terrorism (Jersey) law including being in possession of the Spring edition of an Al Qaeda magazine at his home.

The second count covers his copying of the bomb-making section of the magazine and publishing it online.

You shouldn't be charged over possession of a magazine. No matter how offended someone may be by the author or authors. I can still legally buy and possess the Anarchist Cookbook.

He was so at-odds with the world, lost in his autism, that he turned to outlandish statements and halfbaked support for terrorism to get attention. He found that these statements got him dozens of replies per post. He put on the mask.

The mask was intoxicating for him. When he put on that trip, he was no longer Mark: he was the Sheikh. He was no longer alone: he was known and a celebrity across /int/

The fact that he was a NEET virgin college dropout faded from his mind, as dreams of jihad in Iraq and Syria swept him away and he dutifully took on his role as IS representative to the net.

He felt powerful. He felt popular. He felt that was at home.

Most importantly, he felt that he had friends. I remember one of the last times we talked, I was a bit rude to him and he replied with some statement that I was his "friend." I thought to myself how odd that word looked on the glowing screen in front of me as I dozed to sleep half a world away and secure in my normalfag lifestyle.

You ####ed up Mark and you probably deserve this. But my heart goes out to you for everything that happened in your life to put you in that cell.

There is a LOT less freedom of speech in Britain than in the US, especially on issues relating to threats or national security.

Here, the guy'd be put on a watch list and possibly interviewed by the FBI, and maybe the website would be the subject of an injunction to take down the intstructions, but that's about it without more.

True

Wait.......words have consequences? Sadly this thing will not resonate with the rest of the trolls from 4chan
The rest of the trolls on 4chan are smart enough to troll everybody, not get caught up with a single online persona.
