5 favorite TV shows ever (1 Viewer)

Seeing The Wire on so many lists bums me out that I couldn't get into it. A show like that should have been up my alley, but I got about halfway through Season 1 TWICE and was totally bored with it, so I just gave up.
It's on my list. I nearly gave up around 4 or 5 episodes in but am so glad I stuck with it. I think Season 4 is the best season ever of any TV show.

Breaking Bad

Battlestar Galactica (reboot)

Cosby Show

Seinfeld

Manimal

Again, a tough list without using genres

Breaking BAd

The Wire

GoT

Deadwood

The Shield

HM: Brotherhood

I guess it would be these 5, since they are the only ones that I own on DVD:

Buffy

Game of Thrones

Arrested Development

Curb Your Enthusiasm

The X-Files

Torrent Yamato 2199 some day. It is an updated version of what we watched as kids. I just finished the run with my daughter and we both loved it.
Our Star Blazers!!!!!

Lived to watch that at 6:30am every morning when I was a young lad. I actually am looking at buying seasons one and two on DVD...but want to wait to see if they do a BD remaster first.

I have both seasons on DVD. The quality is weak as you could expect, but getting to watch them with my kid was awesome.

It was great contrasting the Yamato 2199 with the old Star Blazers. My daughter liked that there was more than one girl on the crew in the new version :)

As mentioned above I could probably pick 5 from the 80's, 5 from the 90's and 5 from the 2000's but since it is "overall"...

The Walking Dead

Big Bang Theory

So many Honorable mentions but here's a few... Parenthood, Fringe, Seinfeld, Cheers, **** Van Dyke show & Friends
Funny how the off season can make you forget something.. At least that is the only explanation I can come with that I didn't Have The Walking Dead in my Top 5.. Sorry Cheers but someone has to go down to the honorable mention :bye:

Friends

The Office

Married With Children

Entourage

Cheers

Same. Started it twice and gave up twice then I read you just have to truck through the first bit because there's so many characters and stories to learn. I gave it a 3rd shot and by the end of season 1 I was hooked. I didn't even realize it was happening, but in just couldn't get enough and was watching two a night until it was over.

Magnum PI (watched with my dad, "favorite" is tied to that sentimentality)

NYPD Blue

The X-Files

Lost

Game of Thrones

Honorable Mention : Friends (lots of time with my girlfriend/now wife watching this, so good memories there as well)

Breaking Bad

The Walking Dead

Married with Children

The Wire

Seinfeld

Can't have a thread ender when you include the thoroughly mediocre The Walking Dead.
Sorry, but the Walking Dead is and has been one of the most popular shows ever. I love TWD. Also, to the poster who said Band of Brothers, I don't think mini series should count. They have a definite end date and band of brothers only had 10 episodes.

That's true. And Justin Beiber is one of the most popular singers ever.

Breaking Bad

Star Trek:TNG

Mystery Science Theater 3000

Twin Peaks

Beavis and Butthead

"Popular" doesn't necessarily equal "good".

Hope that helps.

Friends

Archer

Saved by Bell the original

Jeopardy

Special victims unit

I am surprised Married with Children isn't on here more. If it is on my husband will watch it no matter what.

unpopular sure as hell doesn't equal "good".

Hope that helps.

Breaking Bad

Sopranos

Justified

Walking Dead

Seinfeld

I could name a bunch from when i was growing up like the mary tylor moore show and sanford and son....the list would be long

Can't do 5, gotta go with 10

:

Miami Vice

Breaking Bad

Columbo

Seinfeld

Rockford Files

Carol Burnett Show

The Prisoner

Flintstones

Andy Griffith Show

Wild Wild West

I could probably do 5 in most genres but I couldn't do just 5.

Comedies:

All in the Family

MASH

Cheers

Sanford and Son

Monty Python's Flying Circus

Westerns:

The Rifleman

Wanted Dead or Alive

Gunsmoke

Bonanza

Big Valley

Cops/Robbers:

NYPD Blue

Hill Street Blues

Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes. Every season of the series had a different title no need to list them individually

Sopranos

Miami Vice

Sci Fi

Star Trek the original of course

Babylon 5

Space:1999

Battlestar Galactica both are good

Fringe

Fantasy -

Supernatural

Sleepy Hollow only show with one season on the list but I do love it

Xena

Buffy

Twilight Zone

Now there are lots of shows out recently I haven't seen. For instance I just started True Blood. Also keep in mind I am an old guy so that's why so many of these are from a ways back.

Would watch that every morning as long as I could and then have to sprint to avoid missing the bus to school.

Tried watching it again on Netflix I think it was and... oof. Yeah, quality not quite what the child me had remembered. Will have to look for the new one.
