Can Brooks be starter material on some team? If so, what team would he be a good fit with?

is there a site on the web that lists QB stats?
From a Raider fan, I still see Brooks or Griese.I stick my my opinion that Aaron Brooks will be a Raider
I am in the minority on Brooks. I think he has very good physical tools and is still very young. he has been on a poor team with a poor coach and needs some tutoring, but is already decent and could develop very well. I am a Miami fan and if Culpy (1) or Brees (2) can't be had, I would be very happy signing brooks for a reasonable contract as it would be a big improvement. I think of Brooks as Jake Plummer with an advantage of more height. From a Raider fan, I still see Brooks or Griese.I stick my my opinion that Aaron Brooks will be a Raider
You mean Dieter Brook.Id rather have Kevin Glenn for my Bombers thank u very much
I'd love to see him sign with the Alouettes.C

I think he is an effective QB and if he were to land in the right system he could do well but making the pro bowl is a bit of a stretch.......Aaron Brooks is one of the most underrated QBs in the league...he'll see the Pro Bowl again.
Randy Moss we give Brooks a invite.Aaron Brooks is one of the most underrated QBs in the league...he'll see the Pro Bowl again.
Also agree with you , you will see in a few years when Culpepper carreer will be over ( cause he is not talented enough to play in the NFL , and mostly he has no brain ) he is lucky he got Moss as a gift because without Moss he would not have lasted long as a starter in the NFL.Get rid of this loser while you can .Count me as another Raider fan who thinks that'll be his landing spot. Al will watch tape of him throwing some pretty deep passes and fall in love. Truth be told, he might not be a bad fit. Brooks' skill set is actually fairly similar to Culpepper's, as both have great physical tools and, at best, questionable decision making/leadership skills.
I'd rather have Brooks than give up a 3rd rounder for Culpepper and his nonsense(wanting his already overinflated contract reworked).
I am not sold on Culpepper ever returning to his 2004 form. That knee injury is really nasty, especially for a big guy like him. If I were the Raiders, I would take a chance on the Walters guy they drafted. This team is no good anyway, mine as well look towards the future. Maybe Walters is a good QB?Also agree with you , you will see in a few years when Culpepper carreer will be over ( cause he is not talented enough to play in the NFL , and mostly he has no brain ) he is lucky he got Moss as a gift because without Moss he would not have lasted long as a starter in the NFL.Get rid of this loser while you can .Count me as another Raider fan who thinks that'll be his landing spot. Brooks is nt a great QB but still he is one not Daunte . ( Daunte is just a big fat monkey )
I hope you are not being sarcastic. Brooks is underrated in my books.Aaron Brooks is one of the most underrated QBs in the league...he'll see the Pro Bowl again.
Neither were Johnny Unitas, Terry Bradshaw and a plethora of other HOF QBs.The problem is that Brooks is not too bright!
Wasn't Marino's IQ like 72?Neither were Johnny Unitas, Terry Bradshaw and a plethora of other HOF QBs.The problem is that Brooks is not too bright!
Nice post, although it would be fair to post his INT's as well. People look at Brooks and they say things like "he makes dumb decisions" or "he doesn't know how to win" and they are just neing objective. Yes, Brooks make dumb decisions maybe even at a slightly higher rate than other QB's, but people get this impression because of highlights they say when a desparate QB is trying to bring his weak team back with no coaching help. What QB doesn't make stupid decisions? Favre is the king of bonehead plays, but when your team wins more, people forget the stupid plays. Even Brady threw a pick at the goal line that was taken back 100+ yards to cost them a playoff game. The year before he made a stupid pick to help the Dolphins win. Point isn't to criticize Brady or Favre it is to point out when things aren't going well on the football team, your QB will tend to press more and mistakes happen...to all of them. I think Brooks is an above average QB and with some better coaching help could be a top 10 guy. I am pretty sure he will be a very good value for whatever team gets him.I hope you are not being sarcastic. Brooks is underrated in my books.Aaron Brooks is one of the most underrated QBs in the league...he'll see the Pro Bowl again.
Has he made some ridiculously dumb QB decisions in the NFL? Yes. But he is capable of being a good starting QB in the NFL and he is at this point in his career he is by far just as good if not better than the average NFL QB.
Ok, I know stats are not everything but from 2001-2004 before this past season Brooks was well above the average NFL QB and here are some stats to defend him; remember this is a 4 year average........
-14, 760 passing yards which works out to 3690 passing yards a season for those 4 years.
* this year only 7 QB's threw for more then 3690 yards. P. Manning had 3747 yards this season being the 7th guy. Remember 3690 was the 4 year average for Brooks. *
-threw for 98 TD's: works out to 24.5 TD's a season in those 4 years.
*only 3 QB's threw for more then 24 TD's this season: Manning, Palmer and Brady and Brooks averaged over 24 a game for those 4 years and it was not because he had one big year his highest output was 27 and his low was 21, therefore showing consistency*
-he had 1210 completions for an average of 302.5 completions per year in those 4 years
* only 6 Qb's this year had over 302 completions and remember this was a 4 year average for Brooks.*
-he ran for 959 yards for an average of 239.75 yards per season and had
9 rushing TD's in those years which is just over 2 per season.
*only 2 QB's ran for over 200 yards this season with Vick being one of them.
In 2001 through to 2004 Brooks did not miss a start. He was part of a good offensive team. He lead his team to a 32 and 32 record over those 4 years. That is not great but that definitely shows productivity. It's not as if NO had an ubeliveable amount of talent in those 4 years. Brooks is so underrated. Although inconsisitent at times I can't think of a player more hated. He has been the scape goat for far a sub par team and may flourish in another situation. He has a big arm and is mobile. For someone who just left his 20's this past month as he turned 30 I can't think of someone more hated for actually not being that bad. Many teams would love a QB with the numbers Brook put up over that 4 year span to go along with a .500 record as the teams starting qb.
There have been a lot of QB's who have changed overnight after switching teams. NO has been a terribly run organization and have done very little since they stupidly fired Randy Mueller (one of the best talent evaluators in the NFL). Here's what he did while with the Saints:http://bremertonians.blogspot.com/2005/01/...dy-mueller.htmlBrooks doesn't seem to have a "winner's" mentality. He doesn't seem hungry... you could really tell he didn't want to be in NO last year.
With the right coaching/situation this could all change... I really hope he goes to a team where the coach will stand up to him and show some tough love.
Books has the talent to start and be a winner, he just doesn't have the attitude to get there.
I am sure a number of teams will be ready to jump all over him once he gets released.
After Brees and Cpep there are not really many great options for a team that needs a QB.
2000 (10-6, won NFC West)
DE Darren Howard (drafted 2nd round)
DT Norman Hand (free agent)
WR Joe Horn (free agent)
QB Jeff Blake (free agent)
CB Fred Thomas (free agent, former Seahawk)
Acquired QB Aaron Brooks from Green Bay for 3rd round pick
Jim Haslett (head coach)
---The Saints did not have a 1st round pick in 2000, due to the Ricky Williams trade the organization had made the year before. Howard has been one of the best defensive ends in football over the past 5 seasons. Hand was a member of the 2003 Seahawks wild-card team. Horn is the Saints’ top receiver. Blake played for the Saints during the 2000 season before getting hurt, forcing the Saints to play Brooks, a relative unknown out of Virginia.
The Saints would finish 10-6 in 2000, winning the NFC West. They also won their first playoff game in franchise history in 2000, defeating St. Louis.
2001 (7-9, missed playoffs)
RB Deuce McAllister (drafted 1st round. 23rd overall)
S Jay Bellamy (free agent)
KR/PR Michael Lewis (free agent)
TE Boo Williams (undrafted free agent)
---Drafting McAllister was Mueller’s boldest move as an NFL executive. Ricky Williams was still on the roster, but Mueller felt that McAllister was the best player available when it was the Saints’ turn to pick in the 2001 1st round.
Bellamy signed with the Saints after spending the first 7 seasons of his career in Seattle. Lewis was signed in 2001. He was a beer truck driver before being signed by the Saints. He is one of the better return men in football. Williams was an undrafted free agent from Arkansas who has proven to be a capable tight end in New Orleans.
2002 (7-9, missed playoffs; Mueller fired May 2002)
Traded RB Ricky Williams to Miami for 2 1st round picks
WR Donte Stallworth (drafted 1st round, 13th overall)
DE Charles Grant (drafted 1st round, 25th overall, pick acquired from Miami)
C LeCharles Bentley (drafted 2nd round)
WR Jerome Pathon (free agent)
OT Victor Riley (free agent)
DT Grady Jackson (free agent)
---Mueller traded Williams to Miami in 2002 for 2 1st round picks, one of those picks used in 2002 to select Charles Grant. He and Darren Howard are one of the better defensive end duos in football. Stallworth has showed promise in New Orleans, but will best be remembered by Seahawks fans as the player who got hit hard by Ken Hamlin in 2003. Bentley is currently a starter on the Saints’ offensive line.
Brooks to Oakland is an up grade in comparison to Collins. Brooks is much more agile than Collins and can bye more time to allow Moss to get open down field. Brooks is also 4 years younger and has a knack for being able to throw TD's. Collins highest TD output in 11 years is 22 TD's back in 2000. And like posted above Brooks averaged 24.5 TD's a year from 2001-2004.I hope we end up seeing Brooks go to the loser of Kerry Collins... either Oakland or Baltimore. I actually like Brooks a little better than Collins. However, neither team so far as expressed interest in Brooks. Both are pursuing Collins.
Either way, these are the two top deep ball QBs in the current market IMO. Brees is smarter and more accurate with the shorter passes but he's short, injured, and mediocre going deep. Culpepper is likely off the market. To be honest, Ramsey could be a solid sleeper but he's still mainly a project in the making. I consider Kitna on the weak side as an NFL starter.
Boller is worse than all of those. Tuaisosopa has choked badly on stage, proving he's no answer. Walter is a pure project. I think we'll see Collins then either Brooks or Ramsey on these two teams.
Kyle Boller > Aaron BrooksKerry Collins >Aaron BrooksIf Kyle Boller/Kerry Collins are starters in the NFL than so can Aaron Brooks
How can someone be such a dismal failure, despite having a terrible coach, and despite being a top 10 FF QB for a respectable number of years? How can you be so sure?Kyle Boller > Aaron BrooksKerry Collins >Aaron BrooksIf Kyle Boller/Kerry Collins are starters in the NFL than so can Aaron Brooks
David Carr > Aaron Brooks
Aaron Brooks is horrible - he plays like a rookie and he has been in the league for years. He has a pro bowl WR in Horn and still stinks. What else does the guy need to do in order to be classified as a failure?
I watch the saints play a lot; he has never taken a leadership role and has never shown the ability to overcome adversity. The key to beating Brooks always was to sack him early if you did that he would play poorly the rest of the game. From an FF prospective he is way to inconsistent to be relied upon as an every week starter. From an excellent example of this look at last year; a lot of people started him after he played an incredible game early last season, and the following week against a far inferior defense he was horrible. How can someone be such a dismal failure, despite having a terrible coach, and despite being a top 10 FF QB for a respectable number of years? I watch the Saints every week for something like 20 years now. Brooks is certainly better than Collins, Boller and what I've seen of Carr. He does have leadership skills, I think, but really was never asked to be "that guy" by anyone other than the fans. Players like Joe Horn overhshadowed him, assuming the face of the Saints. As for his inability to handle adversity, that's just wrong. True to form, the Saints would give up the lead early, fall behind and only come to life late in the game. He made lots of 4Q comebacks, like 17 or so, in his Saints tenure. I can't begin to tell you how frustrating the game calling was over the years, which included remodelling Brooks into a pocket QB instead of playing to his obvious strengths (which aren't as a pocket passer). Has he regressed? Likely. Can his career be turned around? Certainly. He's in his physical prime. He's experienced. He will have something to prove to himself and others. He can be a bargain and asset to the right team. Trust me, as a long-time Saints fan, I can tell you I fully expect Brooks to be Pro-Bowl material out of spite to the Saints fans and organization.I watch the saints play a lot; he has never taken a leadership role and has never shown the ability to overcome adversity. i think a change of scenery will do wonders for him. he has the physical tools to be a good QB. he's just not had the support at the coaching level to take the next step. With the numerous QBs that have turned a less than impressive career around, with a change of coaches or teams, I don't see how Brooks is so much worse than those QBs that he can't turn it around.
lifetime 2:1 td/int ratio is good..the guy is solid..not sure Haslett and McCarthy had a clue how to use him..not sure Haslett had a clue,period..IMO Brooks lacks the intangables required for the position. He is nothing more than a bandaid.
interesting...wouldn't be surprised if both are accurateLocal (New Orleans) draft "expert" Mike Detillier said this morning he hears Favre is retiring at the end of the month, and speculates AB will go to GB with McCarthy.
And he says any talk of the Saints grabbing the DE(who he compares favorably to Peppers) with the no. 2 is smokescreen...Thinks they will trade to highest bidder
Because they had no one to replace him. Now, with Brees in the NOLA fold, expect him released soon enough. Why hasn't Brooks been released yet? Are they just trying to make sure all the FA money is taken before releasing him (aka Moulds)??? Are there some cap issues I am not aware of?
For every day that Brooks is a Saint, the chances of him being a starter go down.
