As a Packer fan, I've been watching Rodgers closely. Year one, in my opinion, was a wash. Rodgers didn't look great, and frankly had some very bad habits in his game that caused a lot of scouts to question him. Specifically, his footwork was bad, he had a hitch in his release, and he couldn't throw on the run. All things that would get exploited in the NFL.All that said, watching him Saturday night made me a do a double take. He was running all over avoiding the rush and throwing accurately on the run. He put the ball in pretty good/tight spots most of the night. He also looked very, very calm. Plus, his body just looks better. He's in better shape all around. So here's what I think. Rodgers had the physical tools, but I think the biggest question was his athletic ability and coachability (meaning, would his old habits stick). Rodgers couldn't have asked for a much better QB situation. McCarthy is renowned for his off season QB schools, and you can see Rodgers reaping the benefits. Now, I don't know what will happen between now and when Rodgers takes over. But the tranformation over the last three years under McCarthy's schooling has been very noticable. I just hope it continues. He's going to have a solid young offense around him when he takes over.
