I don't really know much about this guy and I was curious as to what people thought of his skills and his chances of stepping it up to a NFL QB when his time comes. Can this guy be a solid fantasy QB?

I wouldn't expect Favre to be playing too much longer and the Rodgers era will begin. What does everyone think?

As a Packer fan, I've been watching Rodgers closely. Year one, in my opinion, was a wash. Rodgers didn't look great, and frankly had some very bad habits in his game that caused a lot of scouts to question him. Specifically, his footwork was bad, he had a hitch in his release, and he couldn't throw on the run. All things that would get exploited in the NFL.

All that said, watching him Saturday night made me a do a double take. He was running all over avoiding the rush and throwing accurately on the run. He put the ball in pretty good/tight spots most of the night. He also looked very, very calm. Plus, his body just looks better. He's in better shape all around.

So here's what I think. Rodgers had the physical tools, but I think the biggest question was his athletic ability and coachability (meaning, would his old habits stick). Rodgers couldn't have asked for a much better QB situation. McCarthy is renowned for his off season QB schools, and you can see Rodgers reaping the benefits.

Now, I don't know what will happen between now and when Rodgers takes over. But the tranformation over the last three years under McCarthy's schooling has been very noticable. I just hope it continues. He's going to have a solid young offense around him when he takes over.

Watching him Saturday night I was impressed. I thought he showed good pocket presence and very good mobility. Made some nice throws.

:goodposting: Not much to add except this is only Rodgers' 2nd year under McCarthy. I was very impressed with Rodgers on Saturday, and can really see the improvements. This all goes right along with what many of the coaches have been saying all camp too.

Yep, you're right. An even better sign then. He's done this in two years under McCarthy.Rich Gannon did the state broadcast of the game and raved about McCarthy's ability to develop QBs (again). I really think Rodgers is in a great spot to develop.

Basically, Rodgers has been much, much better since he's come back from his injury. He's been a standout (based on the reports) since the OTAs.

I would like to add based on my own observations that it's clear that he has learned from Favre whether Favre taught him or not the importance of pocket awareness and the ability to keep a play alive by rolling out of the pocket.

Rodgers has also apparantly fixed his throwing motion if I noticed it correctly. It looks much more natural and not so mechanical like it used to .
