should be co MVP along with Peyton
Peyton's team made the playoffs last year without him on the team. Are they better with him? Yes. Are they better than the Vikings without Peterson? Not even close. Peterson is the definition of the Most Valuable Player--his team wouldn't even have been above .500 without him.
Here's an interesting tidbit via Chase Stuart: http://www.footballp...provement-ever/The Denver Broncos just had the fourth largest improvement in scoring differential from one season to the next in the history of the NFL. Which should hopefully be the stake in the heart of this whole unkillable "this was a playoff team with Tim Tebow last year, so how much better can they be this year, honestly?" myth. The answer is a lot better. A lot, lot, lot, lot better. Like, fourth largest single season improvement in the history of the National Football League better. As sensational as Peterson has been, Manning HAS to get at least a piece of that MVP.
Look at the broncos schedule and tell me one good team they beat. Ill wait...... Broncos are 20 times better than they were last year because of Peyton but like I said they haven't beat anyone.
Ravens and Bengals, both on the road.Denver had a tougher schedule than the Texans, the Pats, the Bengals, the Colts, and the Falcons. With the exception of Atl, Denver finished with a better record than all of them. With the exception of New England, Denver finished with a better MoV than all of them.
Where the hell do you get this from?Denver's opponents went 104 - 104

New England's opponents had 107 - 99 - 1

and that is the only one I looked at

Looking at that page, it looks like you are incorrect, if I am understanding the numbers correctly (which it is possible I am not)Strength of Schedule for Broncos: -1.9

Better than only Steelers, Chargers, Bengals and Colts. In other words, they had the 5th easiest schedule on the year.

Texans: -1.8

Patriots: -1.4

Falcons: -1.1

All 3 of these that you mentioned would appear to have a higher SoS rating than the Broncos.
I read that source the same way, the Broncos had the 5th easiest schedule...but questioned my ability to read it correctly since SSOG seemed so confident.
The numbers actually changed from yesterday, since the win against the 2-14 Chiefs wasn't factored in yet.

Ummm... You can make excuses for his busts if you like, but that doesn't magically make them booms. You think Sanders never got hit in the backfield? You think Sanders wasnt adept at turning 5 yard losses into 2 yard gains? No runner, with the possible exception of Johnson, has gotten a higher percentage of his yards on a lower percentage of his carries this year than Peterson. He's the very definition of Boom or Bust. Here are all of his carries from last week, chronologically: 4, -2, -2, -2, -1, 6, -3, 8, 82, 1, 10, 5, 13, 6, 0, 2, 12, 1, 2, 0, 17, 1, 0, 52. I think that speaks for itself.
I was a much more casual fan when Barry was in his prime, so if I am off - forgive me. But Barry's style was much more boom or bust. He didn't push the pile like Peterson does, and would take more risks. I think that is what the poster is talking about, with which I agree.
Totally agree here. AP is only "boom or bust" because he's getting hammered in the backfield and moves laterally or falls forward to get close to the LoS. Barry wasn't content with 0 and seemed always willing to lose 4 or 5 to pick up 10+. Very different styles. To an extent AP is boom or bust for me on a carry to carry basis(obviously not fantasy wise), but it's impossible to knock him because it's due to the sheer number of players being thrown his way.

Makes sense...the Texans also played the 11 win Colts to help the Texans case.

There were a ton of players thrown Barry's way too!
Obviously true, but I seem to remember the Lions having at least decent QBs and WRs.... I don't think I've ever seen teams sell out against the run like they have this season against the Vikings. Then again, in Barry's case it might just seem like they threw so many players at him because so many guys got two or three shots against him on each run :)

Peterson, Watt, and Johnson had historic seasons, but if you're going by "which player did the most to help his team win" it's always going to be a quarterback.

Yeah, when I posted last night, Denver was -1.0 or -1.1. The Chiefs really tanked their SoS.

Too bad they pulled Peterson from the game in week 15 vs StL he would have had a great chance at the record had he stayed in the game in the final drive with 4:24 to go. One 1st down and he has record.

Minnesota Vikings at 07:48

1-10-MIN20 (7:48) A.Peterson right tackle to SL 28 for 52 yards (J.Jenkins).

1-10-STL28 (6:57) T.Gerhart left tackle to SL 31 for -3 yards (J.Dunbar).

2-13-STL31 (6:15) T.Gerhart up the middle to SL 33 for -2 yards (J.Dunbar).

3-15-STL33 (5:40) (Shotgun) C.Ponder pass incomplete short right to K.Rudolph.

4-15-STL33 (5:36) B.Walsh 51 yard field goal is GOOD, Center-C.Loeffler, Holder-C.Kluwe.

MIN 36 STL 22, Plays: 5 Yards: 47 Possession: 2:17.

B.Walsh kicks 65 yards from MIN 35 to end zone, Touchback.

2-8-STL47 (3:43) T.Gerhart up the middle to SL 46 for 1 yard (J.Laurinaitis).

3-7-STL46 (3:36) T.Gerhart left tackle to SL 49 for -3 yards (C.Long).

4-10-STL49 (3:31) C.Kluwe punts 34 yards to SL 15, Center-C.Loeffler. D.Amendola to SL 9 for -6 yards. Pass back to J.Jenkins to SL 14 for 5 yards (M.Mitchell). FUMBLES (M.Mitchell), recovered by SL-M.Haggan at SL 12. M.Haggan to SL 12 for no gain (C.Loeffler).

Peterson, Watt, and Johnson had historic seasons, but if you're going by "which player did the most to help his team win" it's always going to be a quarterback.
So you think Ponder did more to help his team win than Peterson?
I mean "which player in the league did the most to help his team win" is always going to be a quarterback. The top non-QB in the league will typically be in the 5-10 range overall, behind the top several QBs.That doesn't mean that every team's QB will be its most valuable player. Joe Thomas did more for the Browns than Brandon Weeden, Cromartie provided more value than Sanchez, Peterson helped his team more than Ponder did, and Calais Campbell was worth more than Kolb, Skelton, Lindley, and Hoyer put together. But none of them were worth more to their team than Manning, Brady, or Rodgers (or probably even Ryan, Griffin, or Brees).

Colts fan. Manning is my favourite player.

However, what ADP did this year is unbelievable and Vikings could be drafting 1st overall if not for him. He entered Beast Mode and didn't look back. Truly remarkable the season he had.

Peterson was a machine and deserves this MVP easily. I'd understand an argument had Minnesota missed the playoffs, but given the playoff birth I don't see how you can't give it to him regardless of Mannings records.
