Adrian Peterson Status Updates (1 Viewer)

Adrian Peterson rushed 21 times for 29 yards in the Cardinals' Week 10 loss to the Seahawks.

Peterson added one reception for 13 yards. Running into brick walls from the opening whistle, things only got worse after the Cardinals lost LT D.J. Humphries early in the first quarter. At one point he took a safety (on an awful play call). Per Arizona radio man Vince Marotta, Peterson became just the 18th player in league history to have more than 20 carries but fewer than 30 rushing yards. It's a line reminiscent of Peterson's (brief) last days in Minnesota in 2016. As a Cardinal, Peterson has rocked two good matchups and gotten rocked in two bad ones. The Texans are on tap for Week 11.

I watched the whole game and not sure Jim Brown would have rushed for much more last night.  With no respect at all for Stanton beating them Peterson was toast. Why Stanton did not check off on the safety was inexcusable.  That play was doomed before the snap.

I couldn't understand why they didn't try to work AP as a receiver from the opening snap. Force Seattle to stop run blitzing, Kam Chancellor was crashing the line every single time AP was in... wasn't really until the 3rd until they started doing that. Until they try to diversify AP's role he's going to be hard to start outside of cake matchups.

i think the problem is that they need peterson to have 30 carriers for them to even be in a ball game.  That appears to be the game plan right now.  That was an embarrassing stat line for any rb last night but they just kept doing it.

Stanton at QB and facing anything but a swiss cheese Defense with positive game script = ADP is unstartable IMO.

Things only get worse next week in Houston.

IMO Peterson is only really startable weeks 13 and maybe week 16. Week 12 JAX's pass D is so good they can key on ADP and sleepwalk with their coverage of Stanton. NO way I'm starting ADP vs WAS.

The TE screen was a really nice play to counter how the defense was focusing on Peterson.

They needed to do more plays like that to take advantage of the 8 man boxes.

They did throw to Peterson who made the catch and was able to make a defender miss after the catch and gain extra yards to convert the 1st down. On another play they threw to Peterson who was open but he just dropped the ball.

Peterson isn't inept as a receiver, but he also isn't particularly good as one either. I think he is below average compared to all of the RBs in the league as a receiver, this is the main reason they don't use him as one as much as they might with other RB. Peterson has weaknesses in pass protection as well, as another reason for that.

Opposing defenses know this, which is why they focus on the run so much when he is in the game. The Ellington TD is an example of them catching the defense off guard, as they were not expecting a run from him as much as they would with Peterson in there.

This has been a problem for Peterson his whole career. It makes it more difficult for him to be successful as a runner because of these deficiencies he has as a receiver and in pass protection.

Stanton over threw several open receivers in the game on deep throws. If he would connect on those, that is another way to make the defense pay for focusing on Peterson, but he couldn't connect.

JAX, Rams, Titans, @Wash, NYG left on his schedule. If the Giants in the week 16 is the only game you could start him, its probably time to cut bait.

Lol cut bait huh?

Thats bad advice, bench him sure. But no he still needs to be owned in almost all leagues.

Adrian Peterson rushed 14 times for 26 yards and caught his only target for 13 yards in the Cardinals' Week 11 loss to the Texans.

Pederson opened the game with 13 yards on his first two carries, but he had nowhere to go after that, routinely getting hit deep in the backfield. He was also stuffed on a pivotal fourth-and-one in the fourth quarter which all but ended the game. After going for 159 yards against the 49ers, Peterson has had nowhere to go the last two games, and things are not going to get any better next week against the Jaguars. He will be just a volume-based RB3/FLEX in that matchup.
Gabbo is his QB. He's borderline droppable at this point.

In 14-16 teamers sure. Anything under that and drop him.

You might be right, he might also do me better in someones starting lineup scoring 3 points instead of putting 3 points up on my bench. Arizona is going to be a complete disaster vs. the Jags next week. I will ruminate over this 50 year old running back.

He has gotten under 30 yards 3 of the last 5 games since joining the Cards and has only scored a TD in the first of his 5 games and aint sniffed the end zone since. His OLine is garbage and his QB is hurt. If his name was not Peterson he, he wouldnt even be rostered.

In standard leagues, he has gotten more than 2 points all season just TWICE. Thats not a roster-able player, thats a player not even worthy of discussion.

Free agent Adrian Peterson (neck) says he is "fully healthy" and ready for the 2018 season.

Recently posting impressive workout videos on social media, Peterson says he has been cleared by three separate doctors following his season-ending 2017 neck issue. Now 33, Peterson has been limited to 10 games over the past two seasons, and has just 541 carries since 2013. He's averaged a modest 4.0 yards per carry during that timespan. The future Hall-of-Famer should get another look, but it might come closer to training camp than now.

Florida Football Insiders reports the Bucs may have interest in free agent Adrian Peterson.

The Bucs were linked to Peterson last offseason before he signed with the Saints. Peterson has played most of his career in West Coast schemes and is a fit for Dirk Koetter's offense. Tampa has a talented but unproven tandem of second-rounder Ronald Jones and Peyton Barber atop their depth chart. Taking a flyer on Peterson would add an early-down veteran to the backfield mix.

Free agent Adrian Peterson told ESPN's NFL Live that the Texans are on his radar as a potential landing spot.

This doesn't mean the interest is mutual, of course. "Obviously I’ve mentioned Houston a couple of times," Peterson said. "I feel like Green Bay wouldn’t be a bad look as well. Carolina. There’s some options out there. You know Miami. Down there in [Los Angeles]. That would be a nice look, too, with Todd Gurley." Peterson turned 33 in March. He has made no known offseason visits.

He's 33 and has made a lot of money. Step aside and don't try to take the job of some young guy trying to make his bones in the NFL. Retire with some dignity, for crying out loud.

Based on his on-field accomplishments, AP has every right to leave the field on his own terms,.just like people have every right to praise, ridicule or try to understand him. I say let him do his thing, whatever it is.

I absolutely agree, unfortunately for him I don't think he is leaving on his own terms.

I am not sure I have ever seen a more hard headed player than Peterson. Because of this I expect he will be trying to play for many more years to come.

Eventually no teams will let him play anymore, but I don't think we are there yet. I actually can see him helping the Texans if they were to sign him.

I saw the AP updates got a bump and skipped right over it, non factor. Popped in to post that I must not think he has anything left if I won’t even see if there’s news.

Free agent RB Adrian Peterson will visit the Redskins on Monday.

Orleans Darkwa and Jamaal Charles worked out for Washington on Sunday. The Redskins are desperate for healthy bodies at running back following injuries to Derrius Guice (ACL), Samaje Perine (ankle) and Byron Marshall (ankle). Peterson looked like he was on his last leg in 2017, averaging a pedestrian 3.39 yards per carry over 10 games for New Orleans and Arizona. Obviously Peterson is a big name and a likely Hall of Famer, though at this point in his career, it's doubtful the 33-year-old would be an upgrade on current starter Rob Kelley.

The #Redskins are hosting veteran RB Adrian Peterson, sources tell me and @MikeGarafolo. The Pro Bowler is an intriguing option for Washington.

Free agent RB Adrian Peterson is scheduled to meet with the #Redskins on Monday, per NFL Network. Jamaal Charles and Orleans Darkwa were in today.

Man, I thought AP looked decent last year....this clearly puts him in the draftable category IMHO.

I don’t think he would be a good fit in Washington. Alex Smith is going to love his checkdowns, and Peterson was never the blocking type.

Rotoworld take:

Redskins signed RB Adrian Peterson, formerly of the Cardinals, to a one-year contract.

The Skins also worked out Jamaal Charles and Orleans Darkwa but Peterson impressed them the most. The 33-year-old is a shell of the player who once rushed for over 2,000 yards in a season, but obviously the Redskins feel he still has something left. Not that they had much of a choice—Washington's backfield is a mess right now with Derrius Guice (ACL), Samaje Perine (ankle) and Byron Marshall (ankle) all injured. Look for AD to mix in with Rob Kelley on early downs with Chris Thompson playing his usual role on passing downs.

He was above average in juke rate, evaded tackles and yards created. Not a stud and the 5th gear is gone but his stats outside of ypc look more than serviceable.

The Skins should have signed A Peterson AND Darkwa AND Jamaal Charles.  Pair those 3 up with Chris Thompson.  And maybe 1 of the 4 can last a season.  They're all better than the crap the Skins have now that Guice is out.

In the 12th round to fill your bench, I'd take a swing at him over the likes of White, Nimes, Powell and other guys who we are stashing on our bench waiting for an injury to the starter.  With Peterson, we should find out sooner than later how he will be used and then we can move on or reap the benefits.

I think he still has a skill set and level to be RB2 for your team.  I think it is foolish to be against his fitness level so the only thing missing from his game is the top end speed he once had.  He seems to still have the vision and the cuts.  Only question is how much Gruden will commit to giving him the ball.  In the 12th round, it seems a worthy gamble to find out.
