Adrian Peterson Status Updates (1 Viewer)

Any real updates?
Adrian Peterson admitted Tuesday night that it "would be nice" to play for the Cowboys.

"I've got family here, my dad's here," Peterson said to a Dallas TV station. "But I'm under contract, so we'll see." Peterson has requested multiple times that the Vikings trade him, but seems to acknowledge he's not going anywhere after Minnesota GM Rick Spielman has continued to say he wants A.P. back with the team. Playing for Dallas is just a dream at the moment for Peterson, not reality
Groundbreaking stuff.

Vikings GM Rick Spielman says he has "no interest" in trading Adrian Peterson.
If the Vikings are bluffing on their Peterson stance, it's as hard as hardball gets. "We can just end the Adrian Peterson stuff," Spielman said emphatically. "Our position has not changed. ... We have no interest in trading Adrian Peterson." It's a bit strange the Vikes are so adamant about keeping a 30-year-old running back due $12.75 million and coming off a season lost to suspension, but they must still really believe in his talent. What remains to be seen is how Peterson responds to the Vikings completely ignoring his request

Not sure why anyone thinks it's strange not wanting to keep possibly the greatest RB who ever played the game when he should have plenty left in the tank compared to what his trade value is. This team can afford it capwise at least this year as they don't have any other superstars.

Viking message board at KFAN.com has "rumors" of the Bucs offering a) a 2nd, 3rd and CB Banks or B) a 2nd and CB Verner for AP. I haven't found anything to indicate that those offers are real. But I also haven't looked very hard. I think AP gets traded. Just a guess.

Normally I would agree but Peterson has pushed so hard to leave that I can't see it working here anymore. Kevin Love barely pushed this hard to leave.

Keep him and than suspend him for detriment to the team. You take a cap hit I think but he gets no pay and you can screw right back with him. His mouth is out of control

IF Tampa offers that, they have rocks in the management role. He is not worth that. Damn a younger Marshall Faulk went for 2nd and 5th and Id ont think was as highly paid in comparison.

His contract is too expensive and his image has been tarnished. If I was a GM, I would want to keep him but at a lower cost. Even if he never had the legal issues, he's going to wear out in the not-too-distant future just like Emmitt, LT, Faulk and all the other great HOF RB's before him. He's a lot closer to Dancing with the Stars than another 2000 yd season even though he's one of my favorite RBs of all time.

If he went to the Boys, I'd just about guarantee a 2000 yard season based on his year of rest, their offensive line, and the Cowboys offensive philosophy of "NEVER EVER EVER ABANDON THE RUN". However, I agree with you ... he is going to hit the wall at some point soon.

You're just about ready to guarantee something that's happened seven times in the 90ish year history of the NFL.

In the last 18 years we've had 5 2000 yard rushers. Seems we're about due for another one since the last time was 2012

I do as well, in fact I tend to think he's going to get traded Friday. I feel the same way about this as I did months ago, he'll never play for the Vikings again. If he's not dealt by this weekend I think this just gets uglier but I fully expect he'll be dealt way before camps open.

If by "Smoke screen" you mean the latest comments that they are not interested in trading AP... then I could see that they haven't received any worthwhile trade offers so have decided to go "all in".. If someone really wants AP then give us an offer we can't refuse, otherwise we are happy to keep him.

That's not really a smokescreen though right? That's more of a decision to abandon trade scenarios.

I laugh because Minnesota has said "we aren't trading him" and Dallas has said "we aren't trading picks for vets." But people and media are like "imagine Adrian behind that line!"

Nothing that has actually happened since last year has indicated trade. Sometimes a duck is a duck.

 My thinking is that someone did already offer something for AP and they are playing chicken with them to see if they up the offer or not..

At the same time they are saying the right things as far as to the media so they don't have to deal with "So you are stuck with AP" type reports after the draft if they don't trade him..

Adrian Peterson - RB - Vikings

Former Vikings WR turned ESPN analyst Cris Carter hinted at an Adrian Peterson trade Thursday morning.

Carter presumably still has relationships with people inside the Vikings' organization. "Im under gag order on the Adrian Peterson situation, but I believe somethings gonna happen," Carter said. "But I cant talk about it." Adam Schefter also said Thursday that the door is not shut on an A-Pete trade.

I don't think this means what he thinks it means.

Adrian Peterson - RB - Vikings

ESPN's John Clayton reported Thursday that Jacksonville is "out" of the running for Adrian Peterson.

Clayton confirmed a Yahoo report that Dallas is "out," as well. He added that the Cardinals are "not willing to give up a No. 1 (pick)." Vikings GM Rick Spielman is known to be holding out for a first-round pick in exchange for Peterson. Peterson is only going to get dealt if Spielman's asking price drops.

I suspect the price will drop after the 1st round tonight. Teams that didn't get Gurley or Gordon will think about offering a 2nd for him and the Vikings will have a better idea who might be there.

That's a good call. I can see that happening...

Good thought.. As I posted before some believe that if AP is still with the team on Saturday morning he will be playing with the Vikings in 2015..

The reason being "Saturday Morning" is that if they can't wheel and deal for a 1st round.. They'd look for a high 2nd round and a player..

Wouldn't Ajayi and maybe Abdullah or another RB that fits need to come off the board for that to kick in? Peterson is Peterson, but price-wise and cap wise, if I were, say, the Falcons, I'd rather draft Ajayi with a 2 than give it to Minny for the rights to Peterson.

Adrian Peterson's agent wants the Vikings to commit to his client so he can "retire as a Viking."
Agent Ben Dogra "appreciates" Minnesota's decision to not trade Peterson, but feels "actions speak louder than words." Dogra wants the Vikings to guarantee some portion of Peterson's contract, which totals $46 million over the next three years.
eat it, faust

Anyone have a small violin to play for the agent of an NFL player who already has a $46 mil contract, but the agent gets no cut? Oh wait, here it is...

:violin:

I agree but apparently we aren't using that lump 3 feet above our ###s.

This agent has balls of steel man...it takes someone to see this as a moneymaking opportunity

The guy is either brilliant or insane

Who is he? Does he do a lot of people? Or is he a childhood friend or something?
I couldn't tell you how many ppl he's doing, but he's a legit agent --- not some uncle, or w/e.

think he worked for that one big firm, then went off on his own and had a pretty good client list, although he lost a bunch of those guys the last year, or so.

From the interwebs:

Dogra was once named by Forbes as one of the country’s most powerful agents. Other notable clients included DeMeco Ryans, Patrick Willis and Mario Williams, who in 2012 signed the richest contract ever given to a defensive lineman.

He laso has RGIII and Richard Sherman.

It's asinine is what it is.

Sooo, your client got himself in a bunch of trouble, has been acting like a victim, has been trashing the team and demanding a trade... and now you'd like that team to guarantee him more money. Unreal.

He's was also let go from his last agency

this is from another source

Dogra has his own problems. He was fired for cause by Creative Artists Agency in November, and the NFL Players Association wants him to appear Monday and answer for a variety of allegations, including a public confrontation with Vikings executive Rob Brzezinski in February.

I tend to agree

unless it works, then it is brilliant!

I disagree. Losing respect in your profession (when you already have money and success) isn't worth it IMO. You can be highly successful and not be a moron.

I hope Spielman replies something to the effect of "Let's just call that $10 mill we could have docked AP last year while he was sitting on a couch the new money you're seeking."

Squeaky wheel gets the grease.

This will all be forgotten about once he's rushing for 100 yards every week.

Adrian Peterson - RB - Vikings

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune now considers it "unanimous" that Adrian Peterson will stay with the Vikings.

Agent Ben Dogra opened the offseason insistent A.D. would never play another down for the Vikings. In a recent interview with USA Today, Dogra essentially praised the franchise and confirmed Peterson would stay put. "One of the things I appreciate with the Vikings is their resolve to say ‘we’re not trading him,'" said Dogra. "That tells me they value him not only as a football player but what he has done for the organization." Peterson's agent still hopes the Vikings either boost his client's salary or guarantee a portion of his currently non-guaranteed deal.
