Lots of discussion about picking from the dreaded #8 spot in 12 team PPR Leagues this year. If we get lucky,(even though 4pts/passing TD) it wouldn't be shocking to see Brees & Rogers go before we pick. I personally think it’s a bad move taking a QB in the 1st round. Assuming the "big 4" go as planned, & someone snags Andre Johnson, we are probably looking at Gore, Jackson, or Moss as having the best value at #8 (imo).

So, what about trying to trade down? If you could get the guy picking 7th (player A) or the guy picking 12th (player B) to give their 3rd & 4th round picks for your 1st & 12th, you’d end up trading overall picks #8 & #137 for either #36 & 37 or #31 & 42. Your first 6 picks if you trade with Player A then would be #17, 31, 32, 41, 42, & 56....with Player B they would be #17, 32, 36, 37, 41, &56. According to the ADP's I've been seeing, I am confident we could get a WR1 at #17. Then with 4 picks to burn between #31 & 42 you could likely end up with 3 or 4 of the following: McCoy, Best, Welker, S.Smith(s), Forte...In PPR you could justify one of those 4 picks being spent on a top-tier TE too. Then at #56, you could fill your Flex spot with Foster, Bradshaw, R.Bush, or whatever other RB/WR happens to fall there. I think you can still get a serviceable QB in round 6 or 7...then maybe Stafford in the 9th or 10th.

Starting lineup then might look something akin to:

QB: E.Manning (6th rd)/M.Stafford (10th rd)

RB: McCoy (3rd rd)

RB: Best (4th rd)

FL: Foster (5th rd)

WR: R.White or Marshall or Jennings (2nd rd)

WR: Welker or one of the Smiths (3rd rd)

TE: Finley (4th rd)

I'm interested in hearing what some of you veterans think of this. The main advantage I see would be not having to sacrifice at WR2 or RB2 to land a top TE - which I a committed to doing this year. Maybe I am overthinking this & we should go with Gore, Jackson, or Moss & just bite the bullet if we want a TE with 4th round pick. Thoughts?
