Ahman Green to be placed on IR? (1 Viewer)

Is Slaton worth picking up? What kind of numbers can be expected??

Ahman Green (ankle) will "definitely" not be active in Week 2, according to the Houston Chronicle.Green may have a high ankle sprain. He's currently in a boot that extends "from his toes almost up to his knee." Houston will likely sign Darius Walker this week from the practice squad, and may consider placing Green on I.R.Source: Houston Chronicle
Ahman Green (ankle) is currently in a protective boot. Steve Slaton is expected to be the Texans' starting running back in Week 2.If only they weren't facing Baltimore. Slaton, who got the ball 19 times in Houston's opener, could see 20 or more touches this time around, but couldn't be recommended as more than a flex in PPR leagues. Chris Taylor is a candidate for goal-line carries, as he'll be the biggest Texans back active.Source: Houston Chronicle

Texans RBs = Slaton and Taylor?

They GOTTA make a move of some kind if they want to be competitive. Trade for a RB or get one of the FAs still out there (Jesse Chatman???).

Jesse Chatman is still a member of the Jets - he's been suspended for 4 games for sterroid use.
I thought the Jets released him due to the suspension?>ETA: He's on the Jets roster. Guess you're correct! Strange

How about Davenport?

Certainly Slaton is worth picking up if he is starting. They played Pittsburgh week one, it only gets much easier from there.
Slaton is a nice pickup (or more likely several folks drafted him as RB4/5). Having said that, Houston has a brutal first month. Pitt as you mentioned. Next 3 Bal, @ Tenn, @ Jax.But I think Slaton will be given a chance to succeed. Heck, he had nearly 20 touches last week already.

All the local Texans media guys say Benson and Alexander were not part of any of the tryouts this week for RB. They do not see any of those 2 on the Texans in the forseeable future.

I did hear that Davenport was in Houston yesterday though. No word has been said who, when, and if anyone is going to be signed.

As of right now from what Ive heard and read, its going to be Slaton, Taylor, and Walker.

From John McClain's blog

By the way, for those who want to know who the Texans brought in Tuesday to work out: LaBrandon Toefield, Najeh Davenport, Tyson Thompson, Noah Herring and Dwayne Wright. They didn't sign any of them, which means they're going with Steve Slaton, Chris Taylor and Darius Walker, who's on the practice squad, if Ahman Green isn't healthy enough.

Where's Rashard Lee? Surely he's available :lmao: Edited to add: WTF did Ron Dayne do to the Texans that they haven't even called him back in for a try-out. He certainly didn't look bad when he played last year.

Is anyone here really surprised in the least bit to see that Brown and Green aren't playing?

This is precisely why I felt all along that Slaton was the sleeper RB going into this season. Not saying he is going to be good, but the fact that these two bums were being thought of as ahead of him was a joke. So, Slaton was the only 2nd/3rd string RB that was likely to be his team's #1RB right away.

Musa Smith would be a good temporary pickup for the Texans... a guy that can catch and run some.... I'd start Slaton this week as a flex, but not against the Ravens.

Isn't he too busy running for president to pay attention to the Houston RB situation?

Houston's matchups doesn't really lend itself to let any of these RBs stand out to take the job. Baltimore, @Tenn, @Jax, Indy, all in a row (after starting with Pitt) Whoever is RB1 there might not even be worth a start anyway.

No, he's too busy saving the world from terrorists.

I think there could be some value here. Obviously week one wasn't impressive, but the Steelers are a good team, and very tough in Pittsburgh.

Slaton didn't look horrible, it just looked like he didn't have much room.

I keep thinking that last year, the Texans made Ron Dayne look reasonably good (and produced some solid RB fantasy numbers). They can't be THAT bad.
