Alex Smith? Ranked low & "Tough Matchup"? (1 Viewer)

A WHOPPING 47 points!!!

Yeah, Detroit is favored by 6 1/2, but that still leaves PLENTY of points for the Niners!

And when it comes to Fantasy Football, about the only resource that outranks FBGs are the Vegas Odds.

The Odds Makers are incredible...We all know that...And this game could easily be an Over...Or at least the odds tell us is is equally likely that it will be an Over rather than an Under.

What's your problem, Football Guys? (And you don't need to be telling me that Detroit is playing tough D of late...That's already in your Passing Matchups). If nothing else, Alex Smith is looking at some GREAT garbage point opportunities.

FORTY SEVEN FREAKING POINTS!!! If it goes over, that's 25 points per...I'll take 3 TDs from San Fran!!

Care to argue? :boxing:

This equates to a 27-20 victory for the Lions. Two TDs and two FG for the 'Niners. Assuming Frank Gore breaks his leg on the games opening drive, you may be on to something.[borat] NOT!!! [/borat]

McNabb is ranked number one overall and the Over/Under is 43...With Philadelphia favored by 5 1/2...I guess you and the FBGs think Westbrook is going to break his leg too? :loco:

Detroit 34 Sf 13

There is your score.....The td goes to frank gore.

What in the last couple of weeks makes you believe that alex smith is going to have a big game. Minus a couple of average games when he picked up 90% of his yards in garbage time, he hasn't done anything all year long. He can't even picked up points in garbage time anymore.

At least a couple of TDs...You guys have Bryant ranked fairly high.

So you're betting against the Odds Makers.Tell you what...I'll bet you any amount of money that you want too that the score will be closer to what the Odds Makers have listed than what you have listed.Name your amount.

I do sometimes look at the vegas odds to sanity check my lineup decisions.

In this case I don't think FBG is too far off.

Bear in mind that the "matchup" column isn't written by the guy who does the official projections (Dodds).

The vegas line has Detroit winning 26 - 20. Dodds' game predictor has Detroit winning 27.3 to 17.8 -- yes he is bigger on Detroit but not by a huge margin.

That same game predictor (and the projections) have Smith passing for 199 yards, 1.2 TD and 1.2 INT. On the road vs. a team that just beat ATL pretty soundly, is that such a bad projection? Remember Smith just stunk it up vs. a bad pass defense.

Also note that Smith is averaging 192 yards and 1.1 TD so this would actually be an improvement.

The odds makers have 47 pts, and I have 47 points so I'm a little confused...
You can't read? The odds makers only have Detroit winning by 6.5 points...You have Detroit winning by 21.Again...My offer stands...Any amount you want to name...The games ends closer to the Odds Makers prediction than yours.

#1 what would be the point because I don't know you, I have no way of collecting from you...this is a webboard you could be an 8 year old kid or an 80 year old fat guy pretending to be an 8 year old kid.

#2 the point of your thread was the oddsmakers saying that the over/under is 47 pts and you claiming that Alex Smith will have a good portion of those points. So by you claiming that "i can't read" you have managed to totally switch the topic from your initial pt. I feel pretty good that the score will be that high, just not on the 49ers side of the ball.

#3 when you bet on the odds, you bet the team will either be over or under the 6.5 You don't bet to see who will be closest. The lions will beat the 49ers by much more than 6.5

I'll see you here tomorrow, that will be enough.

1) Supply a Yahoo messenger username and we'll exchange telephone numbers, and you can then run that telephone number though Google to get my address and name...Bet is set!2) The point of the thread is that the Odd Makers are CRAZY correct...Again, better than even FBGs. That is a simple fact.3) When you bet the odds, you can bet both the Over/Under AND the point spread...And again, you set a different point spread than the Odds Makers...BIG mistake! And I'm betting ANY amount that you are wrong.

Yeah...That's what I thought.

I don't think anyone doubts the oddsmakers abilities to predict scores, or at least to come up with numbers that move money. These big casinos aren't built for free. Luckily for us (FBG), they are not in the business of projecting fantasy stats.

No, but when it comes down to making a decision between player 1 and player 2, I go to the Odds Makers and pick the player with the highest point spread.VERY valuable Fantasy info...Right behind FBGs. Nothing else even close.

Alex could very well throw 3 TDs, but he also could pull another 0 TD 100 yard game. FBG puts out what they think is the average between the high and low side of Smith's stats. When it comes to a guy that is so inconsistent, I think they put out the right ranking. In other words, if you have your season on the line you're probably better off going with another QB.
