Alfred Morris, Redskins RB - Value (1 Viewer)

Couple of tough weeks coming up for him, thinking of benching him for T Smith vs KC. My fear is Wash falls behind early and Morris is taken out.
Atlanta I would not consider a tough matchup at all... they're currently next to last in the league in yards per carries allowed. I'm surprised alot of pundits haven't noticed this, but Atlanta can be run on very easily.
The Redskins have a pretty miserable defense and will have a lot of trouble covering White and Jones. One way to limit opponents with high-powered offenses is to run the ball a lot, which I expect Washington to do.

This is an important point. But as much as it helps AlMo, I think it moreso benefits RGIII from a fantasy perspective. Without Brent Grimes, option play action seems like a devastating strategy with someone of RGIII's speed.

If you believed in Alfred Morris's value from the jump, it seems to be fifteen points averaged per game, non-PPR.

non-PPR. :P

Unfortunately that only works until you are behind by 17 or so, which may happen by the end of the first with the skins D.

are you forgetting the skins are the number 1 offense in football? alf will get his touches.

I think most people are forgetting the fact that Washington is 3rd in total offense in yards and 4th overall in scoring offense, and a large part of that has to do with Morris running the ball. For all lowly drafted fantasy sleepers there is a tipping point when they are no longer viewed as being the beneficiaries of landing in a good situation, but rather they are the direct cause of that situation being good in the first place. Morris putting up a hundo on the #1 ranked run D in 2012 last week was that tipping point.

RG3 and Morris are 2 of the best values in drafts this year. Pretty amazing the effect both have had on the offense, which was AWFUL last year. I mean, last decade. or two. :bag:

Traded Martin and Julio for Alf and Demaryius yesterday. People don't want to believe in Alf but as long as he's putting up the numbers, I'm buying wherever I can.

Beat reporter John Keim.

He also gained 70 yards after contact. In fact, he gained positive yards after contact on 18 of his 21 carries (two others resulted in negative yards after contact). I won’t bore you today with talk about body lean, etc. I did like how he ran with great urgency on the fourth and 1 in the second quarter, starting to his left then cutting back hard the other way (safety Ronde Barber got sucked inside, leaving a gap on the edge). It helped that left end Michael Bennett barely moved after the snap (there was an offsides penalty) and created an opening. But still… Meanwhile Morris pressed the hole well enough to help on several excellent runs. On his 39-yard touchdown run, for example, Morris starts to the right and about a yard from his line, he cuts back to the left. Here’s the effect of his pressing the hole this way: the backside safety got caught inside as did the strongside linebacker, enabling Logan Paulsen and Joshua Morgan to seal that side. Morris made a hard cut inside corner Eric Wright – who had little interest in tackling in this game – and was gone. If Morris is impatient or cuts too soon, this hole isn’t created. One more example: On the Redskins’ first play in the third quarter, Morris takes a pitch to the right, with Paulsen and right tackle Tyler Polumbus leading the way. Morris takes care of linebacker Lavonte David with a slight dip to the inside. Davis bites on the dip slightly and changes his angle; Morris continues around the end for 13 yards. Morris wasn’t perfect and his protection still needs work. The Bucs blitzed two linebackers through the Redskins’ right and Morris failed to get the inside guy and both made their way to Griffin for a sack and near-safety. On the next play he helped pick up the end.

Andy Behrens is recommending to sell high on Alf and RG3 because of their upcoming schedule and divisional match-ups.

Just traded Alf for Torrey Smith. I enjoyed watching him but really needed the wr help.

Is this guy the real deal in dynasty or a mike anderson type one season fluke?
from rotoworld:Coach Mike Shanahan believes rookie RB Alfred Morris has a "big-time future" ahead of him.Shanahan also hinted at the Terrell Davis comparison that his son made a couple weeks back. Both Shanahans credit Morris' practice preparation for his early-season improvement. "He only goes one speed, even in practice and walkthrough," said Kyle Shanahan, noting that Morris has already "come a long way" in pass protection and pass catching. Morris' Dynasty value continues a steady uphill climb.

The only thing that matters is Griffin's health. As long as he is healthy, defenses will focus on his running ability to leave room for Morris, and the team will score enough to keep running. The Giants (twice), Cowboys (twice), Eagles (twice), Falcons, Panthers, Browns can all be run on. The Vikings and Ravens are tough, that's about it. AT Pittsburgh can be tough, but they have clearly declined and aged since the start of last year. Maybe the thought is that most of those teams can score a lot, but the Bengals and Saints can/did score a lot and the Redskins still were able to run vs them. Morris to me looks like one of the more solid bets around. And if someone is scared of what Andy Behrens has to say, then it's time to go take Morris from that person.

man i just read that before i came to FBG tonight. i really didn't want to see it. i fully expect 4 carries for 7 yards this week now, with Evan Royster getting 20 carries.

I admit it, I am ALL IN and think we have something special here. Shanny's latest praise of Morris kinda sealed the deal for me. When is the last time Shanny made such gushing comments about a RB? I don't remember him doing this with even Portis! I think the "risks" of Shananigans is all but gone now. As a result, I've made the following trades in my PPR dynasty leagues for him this week. I know many look to be overpaying, but I truly believe we are looking at a top 10 back for his floor, with top 5 potential if he continues to get the work he has thus far.

League A

Gave: S-Jax, Steve Smith Panthers

Got: Morris, Royster, 2013 1st rounder

League B

Gave: Stafford, J. Rodgers, LaMike James, 2nd in 2013

Got: Freeman, Morris

League C

Gave: MJD, R.Jennings, Little

Got: Morris, Sproles, Mike Williams

League D

Gave: Stewart, 1st in 2013 (will be late)

Got: Morris, 2nd in 2013

Just sold Alf and Stafford for R.Bush and RG3 in a standard redraft. I really like Alf and have him in my keeper league, but this deal I could not pass up.

The market for Alf is heating up. I've received several offers for him as he now has a track record. In one league I needed a starting WR and was using Alf in a rotation with ADP, Mathews, and Martin. I accepted Dez for Alf.

Probably could've done better than Dez. Alf is looking like a top 5 RB right now. Whoever you traded with made out IMO.

I think at worst, if you are in dynasty, he's a hold until the right deal come along. no such thing as a pure hold asset only in my view. everyone can be sold for the right price.

I offered up a trade for him on September 22nd

I give:

- Ahmad Bradshaw

- David Wilson

- 2013 1st round pick

- 2013 4th round pick (1st round vet draft)

I get:

- Mark Ingram

- Alfred Morris

- Rod Streater

- 2013 5th round pick

- 2013 6th round pick

The trade was accepted on Sep 22nd. I didn't play Morris last week as I went with Arian Foster and Green-Ellis. Did I overpay? Not sure. I did not like Bradshaw's condition and Wilson's value has dropped short term. My 1st round pick could be high as of right now but it's a gamble. I also have Nicks and did not like having to start Bradshaw and Nicks most weeks. So, either get rid of Nicks or the two RB's.

Glad to see all the people who think Shanahan kills RB value in FF are in hiding right now. Maybe they've learned their lesson.

Picked up Morris week 1 for $13 FAAB.Not trusting Shanny, traded him for Chris Johnson straight up. I can afford to let CJ sit to see if he rounds back into form, if not my bad. I'm totally on the fence as to whether CJ can return to semblance of his former self, but felt it was worth the gamble. As they say...Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained.
:(

Actually, I think they died of old age. To be fair, they are right. Terrell Davis and Clinton Portis were a LONG time ago (much longer ago than the average fantansy football owner's patience). This thing with Morris is nice and might be going somewhere but you can hardly say they ahve "learned a lesson" when they have been right for about 7 years now. The blind dog finds the bone every once in a while.

Watch out if this guy starts catching passes.
Was a good sign this weekend for Morris owners that he caught a pass. What's even better is that right before the 2 min warning when Cousins was in strict pass mode, Morris was the RB and was the outlet route. I believe that was first time Morris was used in obvious passing situations this year.

They have always been wrong. Always. He doesn't kill RBs value. He hasn't had good RBs lately that fit his style. Now he has one and he's getting fed the rock consistently. And along with Terrell Davis there was Olandis Gary, Mike Anderson and Reuben ####### Droughns. Even Tatum Bell produced when he could carry the load. He isn't necessarily going to make a multi-year dynasty star, but if he gets a guy who can handle getting the ball up to 30x a game if necessary, he will net a fantasy star.
