Alice's Restaurant (1 Viewer)

That didn't seem like much of a contest when I thought Louie Anderson was dead. Why did I think Louie Anderson was dead? And why do you seem to be suggesting the two are mutually exclusive options? Variety in entertainment is important.
You confused him with John Pinette, who is dead.
I would never confuse John Pinette with anybody else. I love John Pinette and knew very well that he was dead. Also thought Louie Anderson was dead.

Reminds me of driving between mom and dad's as the car is the only place I ever heard it and it's constant on tgiving. Nice little tradition I guess. But as far as tgiving entertainment traditions go:

Last Waltz > West wing shibboleth ep > Alice's Restaurant

The song isn't good and I would never listen to it on any other day but as a tradition you could do a lot worse. As AJ indicates above, The Last Waltz is a much better Thanksgiving tradition even if Marty did #### up the film.

I guess you have to hearken back to the sixties to be able to really appreciate a genuine draft protest folk song.

With a paragraph on the back.

I've turned all you pot-smoking hippie deadbeats names in to your local draft boards. I hope you enjoy your SE Asia vacation.

Ugh, I was subjected to 20 minutes of this at a friend's house on Thanksgiving. Served the food, turned on the music, and we sat like idiots with the hosts staring at us trying to will us to laugh at something they thought was funny when they were 8 years old.

I hope that was the first and last time I hear that song.

You sound like a really fun guy.
The rest of the week was great, just that 20 minutes stunk. I thought it was really weird to shut down all conversation as the meal was served and make us listen to that awful song.

If you want to throw it on while food prep is happening and people are milling around, fine - people can listen if they want to. But having everyone sit down and get stared at expectantly stinks as much as the song does.

Yeah, I really like the song, and would still find the forced listening to be weird.

I have a friend that had an extra ticket to Arlo's show last night. It was an entertaining evening.

He could just sit on stage and tell stories and it would be entertaining.

Is anyone else listening to Alice's Restaurant while cooking Tofurky and drinking bourbon right now?
