Holy crap, episode 6 was pure chaos and I'm loving it. I need to know Kirsh's motivation for, well, just about everything.

I think his motivation is purely curiosity from a more scientific view; he's the Spock of Neverland, imo. And his loyalty is to Boy Wonder by what I assume is programming.

He’s also clearly “playing chess” to everyone else’s “checkers”. How he long played the encounter at the end of the episode (trying not to play spoiler) is epic.

As an 80's kid and huge Alien franchise fan, was pretty excited by this. 1st episode was kinda rough. Took me a few watches to get through it. 4 episodes in and it's pretty good. I have some questions that hopefully get answered. Major one is I'm kinda confused at the timeline here. I think it's two years before Alien, right? Not understanding that there are xenomorphs on Earth two years before the Alien movie. Unless I missed something in all the Alien movies or not understanding what is going in in this one. Could've sworn Ripley's entire mission was to prevent the xenomorphs from ever reaching Earth, even offing herself in 3 to prevent it. I'm sure this will get explained cuz it's a pretty huge plot hole IMO.

Not a huge fan of the Lost Boys Synth thing so far, but it is nice to have a new storyline. Good effects, good looking and fun nostalgia. Also pretty great to have Metallica, Dio/Sabbath, Tool and Jane's tunes. Definitely made for GenX'ers.

That was Ripley's decision to not bring them to Earth. The "Company" wanted them all along for bioweapons research.

There are certain things we know cant happen like the aliens getting off the island, otherwise you're right. The movies wouldn't make sense.

But it makes sense now for the Nostromo to have the mission to bring back the alien cargo with crew expendable. They knew about the existence of these aliens and wanted the second chance to get them.

I guess I was more referring to the entire crew on the Nostromo in Alien, including Ripley, knew nothing about the xenomorphs, yet they apparently were captured and brought to Earth 2 years earlier. To your point, I guess we know they aren't getting off the island and I'm assuming Weyland-Yutani and Kavalier somehow put a lid on their existence. So I guess it would make sense that the company could've known about them in Alien and sent the Nostromo in there on a suicide mission.

You're right. He definitely had knowledge that none of the rest of the crew had of what they were getting into. It just surprised me that on Alien Earth, the crash and the aliens running amok in the building could be covered up to the masses after that carnage. But, it is kinda looks like a police state and pretty much anyone who came in contact with the aliens are either dead, or work for Kavalier or Yutani. Have to guess that means bad things for Kavalier since I've only heard of Yutani before, lol.

Opening of episode 1 has the 3 types of non-human technologies competing for galaxy dominance. We've only seen 2 companies taking aim at each other so far. Guessing the 3rd comes into play in season 2.

I like the world they've built, pretty immersive if you want to shut off devices while watching.

Billion dollar ventilation in the ship for all the smokers - and the amount of cigarette's that needed to be on board for a 65 year mission for the chain smokers. Quite the budget and space needed.

I'm having a hard time remembering what the 5th specimen was: face-hugger, eyetopus, flies, necksuckers, and ___?
They can't get off the island or there would be lore about them existing in the movies, or they can just break the lore, whatever. LOL but dumb, if the final of the show has a predator take down the loose xenomorph to tie in predator 2's Los Angeles space ship.

Brother should have died lots of times already. Not a fan of the xeno's always hesitating on 1 person only. Or that someone behind them can say 'hey' and they forget about him. One tail whip and it's done. Dumb.

Not a fan of too many kiddo brains and that the security teams can just get to an island undiscovered. I get it that the children have to be enough to move the story along. Security that was supposedly beefed up seems to be pretty thin in all regards. A dock full of the space marines from Prodigy's search and rescue seems excessive.

Thousands dying in the city spacecraft crash and it's just a footnote in the plot. The search and rescue team would still be there looking for bodies. And only 1 medic for thousands - and he leaves? It's Prodigy's city not some other random location. Nope.

But... enjoying it for the creatures and would watch a second season.

My final verdict is it's good, not great. My main issue was I did not connect at all with any of the "children" synths outside of Wendy. Maybe it's due to having adult actors act like children, but I just didnt like any of them, even in a "love to hate" kind of way. I liked them much better in the first episode when they actually were kids.

Morrow was awesome. Olyphant was awesome. Would've liked more of him. Really disappointed we have to wait longer to hear the eye speak.

Also, not sure I liked how Wendy was suddenly able to use the force. Maybe I missed the scene where they explained that.

ETA: Also, that felt like a penultimate episode, not a finale. In this age of every good show getting cancelled, or at the least waiting 2-3 years for another season, cliffhanger ending really shouldnt be done anymore. Starting to greatly prefer seasons that are semi-self contained.

Pretty sure the explanation was she tapped into her synth side which allowed for a connection to the IT network and was able to manipulate through that. More a Bluetooth Google 3D Visor type of thing only with practical application. Wendy mentioned it near the end of the episode. The waving and stuff was a manifestation of what she wanted to accomplish and more for show.

I remember those octopus toys from the 70s/80s that were sticky and you'd throw them on the window to watch them slowly slide down. That would be cool to do with the eye.

Waited until now to start watching this. I'm one episode in. I've avoided this thread and don't know the overall board opinion on it, but here's mine after just one episode:.

Boom. First episode hit very well with me. Definitely put some money behind it. Doable cast. Just a great story. This isn't a put on the television show and pay attention to your phone. Pretty complex out of the gate. Lots of moving parts to digest. I really enjoyed it. Hope first season finishes well.

Yep, how I took it as well. They showed bits of her in each episode messing with the video feeds, flipping cameras, etc by basically bypassing the network security.

Okay. Just finished this up. Well made. Spent a lot of money on the production effect of it. Translated well on screen. Cast was solid. Storyline was elite. I just love the Alien storyline, so that was always gonna play with me. My favorite part of the show was no matter how the episode played the final moments blasting music was just a great touch. Definitely helped all the music was my era. Final episode was good. Those closing moments and her final words before Pearl Jam blasted guaranteed I'll look forward to season 2. Great overall watch for me. Do we know for sure if season 2 has been approved and cued up? Lots of interesting way the next season could play out.

To my knowledge season two hasn't been officially renewed, but since the show was pretty successful i can't imagine them not.

Not sure I can get all the way there as there have been some incredible season 1’s since Fargo (the penguin, stranger things, true detective, Chernobyl, etc) but it is absolutely awesome.
