You may be correct and I was in your camp too, but...Maybe we should give some consideration to the fact that Jake was new and that it was going to take him longer to learn the plays. Maybe the coaches saw enough potential and realized that the learning curve was going to be short. Of course when the plays are hand the ball to Davis right, hand the ball to Davis left, hand the ball to Foster...the learning curve would be short for me too.The schedule doesn't get any easier with Indy, Tenn, TB, Wash, and Phil on the horizon. Even the pre-season gimmes of Houston, Dallas, and Arizona won't be a walk in the park since all are better then advertised.
You're right. But I guess I got to see some more out of Jake to truly believe.I'm still a little confused by some of our QB decisions in the past so I'm skeptical, but I want to believe.

Bumpidty-bump.Once again Rod Smart and Stephan Davis dominated. A clean sweep of the NFC South. Go Indy! We want an undefeated showdown next week!Is that champaign getting warm Dolphins. ;)

Nice win, and my first NFL game in person after all these years. Stephen Davis and the O-line are doing great, not to mention the weekly special teams contribution. I am still a bit nervous about the game that will come when Davis gets shutdown. I still am not sold on Delhomme. BUt for now I will be happy with a 4-0 record, and that game against Indy is looking really good next week.

Stuck with watching highlights only with the Panthers  Just checked the national TV schedule and it looks like I wait until Dec. 7th for a chance to watch this team play. They play Atl; maybe Vick will be back by then  It is difficult to imagine how Davis can be doing so well with a QB and receiving corp that is not going to scare any NFL team.Should have ordered Sunday Ticket :wall:

A one...and a two...and a half (since the south has been sweep).Yup, that's two and half games up on the rest of the NFC South. Maybe your last chance to hop on the band wagon before there's no space.Next stop...Indy!

Roll on Panthers and climb aboard Footballguys. It wasn't pretty and potentially losing Davis will hurt, but there's nothing as sweet as beating an unbeaten favorite at home to go 5-0.Who's next?

Luck? Questionable Calls? Whatever.

Bottom Line PANTHERS WIN

Bring on the Titans!!!
It would be nice to have a cream puff after a tough game like Indy. Indy winning Monday Nite was the best thing that could have happened. Monday winner's tend to underperform relative to Monday losers.

Bucs come to town in a few weeks...the party ends there. Enjoy it now...good, young team...but this isn't your year.

Bucs have no chance. They thrive on sacks and turnovers, and with the Panthers power running game, they will have neither.HOWEVER!!!!!Brad Johnson and the top 3 offense in the NFL may have something to say about that.

Just bring it Bucs.
In 1997, there was a team with a great young defense, a good running game and a nondescript QB. They started out 5-0, but faltered down the stretch to end up 10-6. That was the Bucs. That is the Panthers this year. The Bucs, like the Titans today, are going to be up in that ### in a few weeks. Hope you enjoyed the fast start, you're still the second-best team in the division.

You just concentrate on San Fran and those 75 rushing yards they've gotten in the first quarter.

Smack the Bucs in the chops and move to 7-2! The magic number is 4 with 7 to play. Probably the best game of the year in terms of excitement. Hopefully this is the last time we have to see the Bucs this year.

I have to give Jake some credit. I've been down on him and I'm still not completely sold but he took them down the field when the 6th best defense in the NFL knew he was going to throw and got the TD anyway. We may be seeing the maturing of a qb here. I just wonder how far he can go.

:Late Bump:

After a few bumps in the road, the Panther bandwagon is back on track !!! The Panthers beat the Bucs Sunday and have a three game lead in the NFC South. The Panthers are now tied with the Dallas Cowboys for the BEST RECORD IN THE NFC. (Big showdown coming up in two weeks!!) The Panthers are in the Cat-bird seat (pun intended) for the NFC South title and the playoffs. With a victory over the Cowpokes, the Panthers could be in a position for home field throughout the playoffs and the inside track to the SUPER BOWL.

A side note to the Delhomme doubters:

Jake Delhomme

FF QB =

NFL QB =

:P

Yeah Patsies  I hope Fox learned from this game and the Panthers can pull off the mild upset. I expect the Cowboys to be a 1 pt favorite at home.

PLAYOFF BOUND BABY!Yes, you heard it here first months ago.
:confused:this isn't the time to be bragging about it...you guys are limping in, fresh off a losing streak and going down to the wire against the pathetic Cardinals.you guys are making it in due to a few last-second victories, and in spite of your horrendous QB and bad secondary. i hope to GOD the bucs make it in so they can head back up to carolina and end this nonsense once and for all.sadly, they'll probably get squeezed (their fault, of course) but I hope you guys get Dallas so they can beat you again.carolina = chicago of a few years ago, just not as good.

Is now the time or do I have to wait until my playoff tickets arrive on my doorstep Christmas Eve?By the way, nice showing by your team this weekend.

hey, i'll admit it, panthers are the better team this year. i still don't think you guys are going anywhere in the playoffs, but enjoy it. you guys really aren't that good, but you're better than the bucs this year, if that makes you happy.bucs had an incredible year, with all the injuries and distractions. they'll be back.

Regardless of what happens from here, it's been a great season. Here's how I see the potential matchups...Dallas: We have a better offense and the defense at home will be on par with the Cowboys. This is difinately a good matchup for the Panthers.Green Bay: Go Minny. Green Bay may be the best team in the NFC and we don't matchup well.Seattle: Can't play on the road, but their offense scares the heck out of me. I hope they are travelling to the NFC North.Minny: Who knows which Minny will show up. Good luck handicapping this game.Philly: We've played them tough once and we've played well on the road (Indy, Tampa). We have a chance at an upset if we run the ball well.STL: The offense doesn't worry me, it's the defense. Bulger's weak arm won't get it done against the Panthers defense. We have the better coach. Sea/GB/Minny scare me more then the Rams.

Well the stars aligned perfectly. Dallas comes to Carolina. If the Cats can win the rematch it's off to STL. After today's performance by STL in Detriot, I like our chances. If someone can pull the upset in Philly, the Panthers may even have a shot at the championship game coming to Charlotte.GO PANTHERS!

;) I think the Panthers will beat the Cowboys. Someone on CBS said the Boys got their wish by going to Carolina instead of GB or Minn. Mistake. The Boys will lose in Carolina by a stiffling defense and a strong rushing performance by S. Davis. It would be hard to beat the Rams in the dome, but possible. I like their chances against the Eagles no matter where they play. Go Panthers!

How 'bout them Panthers!!Some comments on the first round win against Dallas1. Panthers are now 7-0 this season when scoring 21 points or more2. No penalites, no turnovers. Niiiice!3. Julius Peppers looked like nobody was going to stop him on the INT return. He was a runaway truck on the play. Unfortunately his angle was cut down.4. Did you catch both Steve Smith and Julius Peppers jumping into the stands? The Panther Pounce! What'dya think, will it stick?5. How about Mike Minter and several other players high-fiving the fans after the game, thanking them. How often do you see that?! Way to go!Carolina's record, the last four games against St. Louis: 2-22001 Week 15 in Carolina. STL favored by 12.5. Rams win 38-32, Panthers cover.2001 Week 9 in STL. STL favored by 19.5. Rams win 48-14 and cover.2000 Week 14 in CAR. STL favored by 8. Panthers win 16-32000 Week 10 in STL. STL favored by 13.5 Panthers win 27-24

Don't know if the panther pounce will stick, but I like it. Those boys have a lot of heart. Delhomme scares the crap out of me when he passes, but he is getting it done. I like their chances in StL. Anything can happen! The Eagles don't want any of the Panthers.. they'd rather have the Rams on grass. They don't want the Packers either for that matter. Go Panthers!

Congrats to the Panthers.I can't believe that team is going to the NFCCG, but hey, there they are.If you guys meet Philly, I'll be rooting for ya.

Said Terry Bradshaw: "I think it's time other teams start recognizing Carolina." Or something like that! The city is going crazy! Panther fans everywhere rejoicing! Three cheers for Delhomme to Smith for the game-winning TDX-Clown, Baby!!

I got them at 30-1 to win the NFC in the off-season.Wonder if I should just sell that betting stub now?
Note to self: the next time you get a brilliant pre-season hunch on a football wager, don't be a girl and go cheap on the bet.

I was about to get on this train, but noticed that Jake De La Homie was driving. I'll wait for the next engine coming down the line.
Yeah...he stinks, unfortunately we're running out of engines.

I'm glad they keep winning. I would love to see them make it all the way to the title game. Are they winning in spite of him, or because of him? I still perceive them as an underdog each week.I didn't see the game today or last week. Something else to ponder. Even if they win it all, doesn't Jake seem like the sort of player that will always be on a short leash? Will the home town crowd turn on him if they lose a couple in a row? Is he another Trent Dilfer? I just haven't seen enough of him to really judge.
