No doubt. They changed the way a bunch of crap works and I've been off contract for 5 months now and never looked into lowering. I almost walked away. I also need to not get inusrance as that's costing me 36 dollars in that 191/159Sounds like you are getting worked on your current plan

So I just upgraded from an S5 to an S6 and I can't get my Google Now page when I swipe right using Google Now launcher. Thoughts?

Texting is the big one.
Of that bill 27 is insurance that I need to cancel and go third party
My current bill with insurance is 159.

6.9 GB, 528 minutes, 1400 Texts
We use approximately 6-8 GBS of data a month
I also need 4 phones. 3 smart. 1 basic

So it is just $132? Thats not terrible for 4 lines. If that works, stick with it I guess.
T-mobile could get you down to $100 for 4 lines, unlimited calls/texts, and 8 GB, but it would require different phones as few can hop between the different technologies of Verizon and T-Mobile. Maybe consider if you're getting new phones anyways.
Also, if you MUST have the high end new phone like the Galaxy 7, then a contract is less bad. But, you're paying a ridiculous price for a phone that really isn't much better than say a Moto X Pure (retail $399, you can probably find it cheaper). The savings from prepaid really kick into high gear if you realize that you're overpaying highly for the latest Samsung or Apple phone.

What is the limit you're not hitting, or the amount you're actually using. Data usage is pretty much the biggest variable in pricing.

Yes. 132 without inusrance - I think. Yes I know older phones are better. My wife is 3 versions behind and we have never bought a new phone out right. usually 1 generation behind. So this is would be our first new one. I want to try the moto6 but don't thik I get get it for Verizon

What is your current cost?
Off hand I'd say look at Consumer Cellular (uses AT&T's network), or Net10, or T-Mobile.
Between those 3, one of them should suit you well and be cheaper.

T Mobile is out....no one who's ever had a T Mobile phone in my house can get a signal. My current cost for us is about $120 including the taxes.

My wife's 2 year old Nexus 5 is starting to hit the end of the road due to a sticky power button. I'm guessing that it makes more sense to buy a new unlocked phone (250-350) vs getting that one fixed (estimating 80 to 100 for the repair). What's the best value in unlocked phones nowadays? I'm on Ting. Nexus 5X, Moto X, OnePlus X? Leaning OnePlus since I have a OPO and been happy with it once I got it setup the way I wanted.

I have had the 6P since Oct (or so) and I absolutely love it. The camera is fantastic, battery life is great, finger print scanner is flawless etc etc. The only thing I do not care for is the gmail notification bug that seems to come and go. I keep hearing they are working on it but nothing as of yet. I have countered that by using INBOX which does not seem to have the same issue.

Yes, Verizon will give you a nano SIM free of charge. I recently switched to a Nexus 5X and did the same thing. Was in and out of the store in 5 minutes.

It might be time for a new phone for me. My Nexus 5 touch screen started to spaz out today. The screen is "sensing" taps that didn't happen so it opens apps and clicks links that I don't want to open. And of course that screws up any sort of games I may hope to play.
Do you guys have recommendations in the $300-$350 range? I'm going to opt for less storage since I only used 12.8 out of 32 gigs.

Sign up for Project Fi for a month and order the Nexus 5X... they give you $150 off for trying Fi, so a 16gb 5X is $199 and 32gb 5X is $249. Plus you add on the ~$30 cost of 1 month of Fi and you've got a 5X for $280.
If you don't like Fi just take the Fi sim card out and put in your T-Mobile one.

I have a Nexus 5, it upgrades the OS on it's own. (Sends it to me so I can upgrade and am up to 6.0.1 which I think is Marshmallow? My wife has a Galaxy S5 and she's still on 5.0.1, Lollipop if I'm correct.
How do I force her phone to upgrade? Can I? I'm not sure why her phone hasn't been sent an upgrade for a long time.

Samsung takes FOREVER to upgrade the OS. Most brands do (but it seems to be improving a bit).
The exact point of a Nexus phone is to get updates immediately.. We're basically "beta testers" ... some devices get updates a year or more later than nexus users

On the other hand, the Galaxy S7 comes factory installed with Marshmellow. So you can just get her a newer phone. At some point they stop updating the OS on an old phone so you have to buy a newer one to get the new OS version. Forced obsolescence.
