Ill play with y'all anytime.Dante, you have my first or second favorite draft thus far. I dont dig on the Winslow pick in a redraft format but its a small detail.
I kinda like it. Remember SHockey his Fresh year? Unless he does a Todd Heap and go a team that has a Shapre, I think it is a great move. Good value and I think I will look for this in my redrafts late 6th round if no better value is there.

A page or two ago, somebody said I'd proved their point by not wanting to make this a $$$ team for myself by virtue of my "bad" Stephen Jackson pick. My response is: "Sort of"In participating here, I'm trying to approximate where I would draft a player in a redraft league - which traditionally drafts much closer to the season. I'm less hesitant about making this a $$$ team because of the Jackson pick then because of the fact that Jake Plummer could blow a knee playing catch in the backyard with Rod Smith during a birthday party. If we want to make this a league, I won't stand in the way, but I'm not about to put money on a team - any team - that has 4 and a half months to injure itself.HERD

7.14 Justin Fargas8.1 Shannon SharpeIm happy with Huggy Bear at this point in the draft. He averaged 5 yards a carry in limited time before he was injured last year. Yeh, he's an injury risk, but this kid is one of those character guys you just got to give a shot to. He's spent his life proving people wrong.Sharpe had the most value on my board. I feel I can get WR depth later. Any likely impact player at this point is money. I feel fairly confident Sharpe will be back this season considering the high level he's playing at. Who can say no to Rod Smith?

Ok. He had 1600/6. But don't forget Moe Williams had 11 TDs that year. With MBennett shelved with the bad wheel, Moe Williams actually DROPPED to 5 TDs.
It's not Bennett's job outright. Last year:Bennett - 5.0 YPC on 90 carriesO. Smith - 5.4 YPC on 107 carriesMoe Williams is NOT just going to go away
Don't forget that Bennett averaged 5 YPC for the entire season the year before.I just don't see why they would feel compelled to make this a RBBC. OSmith is just a 4th round pick. The only way this could be RBBC is if OSmith stepped up and took the job away from Moe Williams last year. He couldn't even do that. Why should he get the opportunity to take away Bennett's job? He sits on the bench as insurance, nothing more, imho.

He may sit on the bench as insuarance, but the burden of taking Bennett out is not a big one. IIRC, in the second to last game of the year, Bennett slightly tweaked his ankle, left the game, and watched as O-Smith had a big day (3 TDs). As much as it pains me to say it, especially after being big on the Bennett wagon most of the year, I think that each guy of the 3 will have SOME value, but none of them will have enough value to be much more then FF depth. That may sound harsh, but I could EASILLY see a situation where Moe gets some catches, hard yards, and TDs, Bennett gets yards and not too many TDs, and Onterrio "spells" both enough to end up with similar FF #s to the other two. HERD

I'm at work on Flippin' Good Friday, and feel obligated to waste some of my employers' time. My analysis of the teams so far:

Water Bottles:

Steve McNair

LaDainian Tomlinson

Lee Suggs

Chad Johnson

Plaxico Burress

Jerry Porter

Kellen Winslow

This team looks strong, but certainly has weaknesses. If Pittsburgh finds its passing game again, Plax could finally live up to his potential. While others disagree, I think Winslow was an excellent pick. I would not have taken McNair w/ Vick and Hasselb. available, but that is just personal preference. Early 5th, the way things have fallen, was probably too early to take a QB. A third RB would have been a much better pick. Strong team, but lack of depth at RB can kill you in a survivor format.

Red Rum

Tom Brady

Priest Holmes

Charlie Garner

Chris Brown

Terrell Owens

Keenan McCardell

Amani Toomer

If I were the owner of Red Rum, my team would look very similar to this. I don't think he has really made a mistake to this point. Both Garner and Brown have huge upside, and are in systems that could provide excellent RB2 numbers, giving RR the potential of 3 good RB's. I would not have taken McCardell in the sixth, with Lelie & Porter available. In Survivor, I look for players w/ the largest upside, once I have spots filled. This pick could have also landed either Winslow or Sharpe, giving some points from the TE spot, that probably won't be found later in the draft.

Juice's Core

Donovan McNabb

Deuce McAllister

Warrick Dunn

Michael Bennett

Koren Robinson

Donte Stallworth

Ashley Lelie

I really like JC's WR's, esp. where they were picked, but believe he could be much stronger at RB. Unless Bennett finds a way to get out of RBBC, there were too many better options available, when he was picked. Between K-Rob, Stallw, and Lelie, good points at WR will be found, w/o any of them being picked prior to the 5th round. With that said, the RB position should be stronger. McNafro could be a good pick, I just don't like taking a QB that early (my preference). W/ Owens, he may be a true, consistent stud. Time will tell.

Brit's Brutes

Daunte Culpepper

Byron Leftwich

Ahman Green

Tiki Barber

Andre Johnson

Rod Smith

Charles Rogers

This team could be much stronger, had they not taken Leftwich in the 7th. QB's are a dime a dozen at this point (of Lefty's caliber), and you do not yet have a RB3, or a TE. When you use a 2nd round pick for a QB, there should be no reason to pick another until the 9th or 10th round. Green is a stud, and Barber may be a steal this year. He is a featured back, on a team that has secured its offensive line, and might add Gallery to it. WR's are iffy, but you have 3 that could put up numbers.

Psycho

Peyton Manning

Clinton Portis

Troy Hambrick

Marcel Shipp

Quentin Griffin

Chris Chambers

Javon Walker

This could be an excellent Survivor Team. I really don't believe there has been a mistake made by the owner yet. If Griffin can secure the starting position, this team could be very difficult to knock out. Either Shipp or Griffin can put up numbers on given weeks, and WR1 and two are solid. A key to this team will be finding a third WR to produce, as neither Chambers or Walker are guaranteed their numbers.

Red Sox Fan

Michael Vick

Shaun Alexander

Correll Buckhalter

Corey Dillon

Darrell Jackson

Keyshawn Johnson

Justin McCareins

I personally do not like this team. I don't think Vick is worth a third round pick, and Dillon was quite a reach in round two. The dreaded 6th spot = you don't get one of the top 5 RB's which I believe are Tier 1 & 2 (LT and Priest = Tier 1). You are decent at WR, but with weakness at RB, this is not a good mix. Keysh. is a reach when guys w/ more upside (IMHO) like Gardner, Driver and Warrick were on the board. Unfortunately, I don't see future picks helping this team. Needing WR's and RB's going into the 8th round is not a good sign.

Mike Vick Show

Matt Hasselbeck

Jamal Lewis

Travis Henry

Curtis Martin

Eddie George

Marty Booker

Rod Gardner

This team is strong at QB, decent at RB, but problematic at WR. I love the Henry pick in the second, esp. for the Survivor format. The problem is that three of your four RB's might not be starters after mid-season. Not getting McGahee or Brown was a mistake. Hasselb. is a good QB, but you put your team in jeopardy by taking a QB in the fifth (I think Hass is a great 5th rd. pick, just not what you needed at the time). You would have been better served to take McG or Boston/Price. The value of QB would have been available later.

I'll finish the second half later.

Made my first pick which might not be a 'popular' pick, but a pick I believe will pay dividends Josh McCown.

As a long time Viking fan I have seen first hand how quarterback friendly Dennis Green's system is. I have seen an aging Randall Cunningham, Warren Moon and Jim McMahon look good and put up good numbers. I have Sean Salisbury look good. I have seen Jay Fiedler and Brad Johnson come in and look very good. Of those 10 years in Minnesota, Green rolled out a different quarterback every year and not once did one of them not produce.

If Green says McCown can play and will play (which he has), and he is throwing to Boldin and Fitzgerald and Green brings his pass-happy quarterback-friendly offense to Arizona...McCown is good for 3,000 yards and 20 touchdowns (minimum). But nothing is in stone, so we'll see where the rocks fall come this fall. I opted to roll the dice.

GarciaWell, I got a starting QB, lucky me. There were some other players I would have liked to take, but my Kitna debacle stopped that. It was between GArcia and Bled. I think they both have something to prove, I feel with Garica's run abaility and CLEs need to win will elevate him above Bled.JAAPS I do really like Garcia and Bled this year as value QB2s who will perform over draft position.

I agree about Garcia and Bledsoe. People forget that both of them are capable of the 4 TD/300 yard game, but guys like Carr and Leftwich will get drafted ahead of both for "upside" despite fewer results.I drafted Anthony Thomas, and I think my last 2 picks (Plummer and THomas) go a long way towards "righting the ship." I think of my 4 current RBs, I should be able to scrape together 2 useful starters on a weekly basis. They aren't going to set the world on fire, but they may not have to. At worst, I have the top-rated Rookie RB who should find a job as a bell-cow, and the Bears starting Runner, whoever it may end up being. I think I'm pretty deep at QB now with Brooks and PLummer and my WRs are good enough that I can snag a little more RB depth instead of trolling for a starting WR. HERD

I agree your team is looking stronger Herd. The Thomas pick was critical. Either him or Jones is going to be putting up good numbers behind a revamped Bears O-line with a real honest to god passing game. I dont know that they are studs, but one or the other will be productive. Personally i think its gonna be Thomas at the end of the day (I was hoping to get Jones and Thomas myself, but I didnt want one without the other). I got a player in my head that would really solidify your team, but Im not telling

Goat -I actually like your rookie running back selections. They are boom or bust picks; which is a great for fantasy football coaches. Going into games coaches are pretty open (with the exception Shanahan and ShanaTice) about who is going to get the most carries. I would rather start a rookie than try to analyze a matchup involving the likes a Curtis Martin and wonder "Will Curtis get 55 yards and 0 touchdowns or 61 yards and 1 touchdown). If rookies catch fire, it is a good bet it will be in games 9-16 instead of 1-8 (NFL Schedule), and that equates to production in FF playoffs.

I'm comfy with my base starters, so I decided to roll the dice on a player with some big upside in Brandon Loyld. If he emeges as the WR1 in SF (as expected), he'll make an excellent addition.

I thought Team Name II requested A-Train? His message is posted on the message board, though it looks like he got Pinner instead? Anyone, anyone....

I didnt like that pick until I started thinkin about it, its actually a pretty solid choice. He'll produce, at worst, respectably, but he also has a lot of upside.

Any comments on my McCown pick? I originally anticipated ridicule for the pick because Garcia, Bledsoe and Carr were on the board. But maybe the lack of comments is an indication the pick was not great but was not bad either.

I think you could have gotten him later.
Maybe, but I was hoping Plummer or Tom Brady would slip too me at 8.02 as well. It was the 8th round and I think I had held out long enough on my quarterback position. If just 1 other person saw any upside in McCown over the next 20 picks, I was probably looking at drafting Carr with pick 9.11.Carr had 9 and 9 touchdown passes in 2002 and 2003. Even though I like Carr, I feel strongly that McCown will put up at least 3,000 yards and 20 touchdowns if Green lets him start 16 games with Boldin and Fitz.As I said, I did roll the dice. Thanks for the comment.

I think it was a good pick. He certainly has upside as he should have weapons galore, and he has an offensive friendly coach. A key for you will be to get another good QB, to offset the off-weeks that he is almost certain to have. The same can be said of all the QB's on the board when you picked him, so I would not call it a bad pick. I'd have taken Garcia or Carr first, but to me; ALL of these qb's are almost interchangeable, as none have a significant amount of value over any others = They are all the same to me!

HERD: I'm curious to find out why you are down on Brooks? I believe you got good value for him, when he was picked. Plummer is a great #2; but I would have no Problem placing the burden on Brooks; and passing on a qb2 for at least one more round.

Oh, I'm a big Brooks fan. He's my QB in a 16 team dynasty and I had him for a redraft title run in '02. I was simply saying that his NFL status and FF status are very different. He's a great FF QB, throwing for yards and scores and not tossing many interceptions. HERD

I as well...and I am having trouble figuring out the pre-daft option. It did not kick in last night.

You have to predraft for each round seperately. If your predraft list empties, you go back to normal mode. You can set up a cheatsheet which will be used for the whole draft.I've no objection to suspending until Monday, but I can also try to pick if you want the press on. It's major holidays for 2 religions and alot of folks will be tied up.

Crusaders are stocking up on the Jones's.
The way I figure it, I took a chance making a rookie my #2 back so I might as well run with it and take another top rookie as my #3 back. With Denver making the trade with Cincy to move up to 17, I think they were doing that to get in on the top RB's. Best case scenario for me now is Detriot taking Jackson with the sixth pick, or later on if they trade down, and the Joneses ending up at New England/Dallas/Denver. If this happens, one of the two will hit it big.

Guys, I am not at work today due to a family emergency. I'm sorry my last pick took so long.I pre-drafted my next two picks and I hope I will be able to get back to a computer by my third pick to see where we are at.Thanks all for your patience.

9.14 Charles Lee10.1 Lemont JordanI really, really hoped Chris Perry would have slid to me. Imo he has as much chance of becoming a starting RB next year as any of the others, possibly slightl more as he's played in an NFL style offense. Thats a great pickup.Charles Lee was the guy I had targetted for my #3 WR. Just a gut feeling, but this guy is going to be a major sleeper. He's big, he's physical, and he's finally learned the nuances of the game. I think he may be in the Isaac Bruce mold and be ready to break out a bit later than usual.Lemont Jordan is just a solid prospect, like he is every year. Someday C-Mart has to close, and for a 10th round pick, well what the heck. Plus he seems to be their goalline back so in an emergency I could plug him in if i had to even with Martin healthy.

HOnion will prolly take a TE but I will wtill get a 2nd tier TE and in the 9th none the less.Outside of my Kitna debacle (which in reality really did cost me) I still like my team a whole lot.

I think you should have gone DT with this pick (or other RB). CLee is a huge reach at this point even if he pulls a 2003McCard in 2004.

A huge reach at the end of the 9th round? This from the guy that took a defense? ;)
:P Ravens DE won me $500 in one league last season. Yes, single handedly in the Superbowl. 35points IIRC

Ask everyone that took the Bucs D last year up high how it worked out for them.
