Yeah, who would've thought before the season that people would be benching LT2 for Slaton and not really questioning it....I realised how much I liked Steve Slaton these days when I found myself benching LT2 for him. I think he's for real and he will be a top producer the rest of the season and beyond.
They do not have much other choice really. He is the best goalline option they have as weird as that sounds. What surprises me is that he is on the goalline offense.
Although I'm a big Slaton fan, this is incorrect. Both Daniels and Walker are legitimate red zone threats. They do not have much other choice really. He is the best goalline option they have as weird as that sounds. What surprises me is that he is on the goalline offense.
I like Slaton alot too, but he has some things working against him:1. his size (5' 9", 200 lbs)...to keep him from getting hurt, HOU needs to rotate some others in, possibly using him on 3rd downs (this includes goalline work). He could see his carries reduced.2. he's a rookie...risk of hitting the rookie wall after week 10 or so, risk of people 'figuring out his game' after getting some gametape on him3. Kubiak...and Chris Taylor, Ahman Green, Darius Walker, and the fact they were still shopping for an RB as recently as week 3.4. HOU is 0-4. There is a good chance things could get shaken up; although he may be one of the few things going right for the team, so probably remains highly involved.I agree he's great now, but it's only week 5, and I think he may carry more risk than alot of other RB2. I might trade him if you could get very good value for him. Or just ride him til the wheels come off...he's got a great schedule coming up.Although I'm a big Slaton fan, this is incorrect. The thing about rookies 4 games into their career is I'd need to be right by selling high on the Robert Edwards' of the world 9 times in a row to cancel out that one time that I end up "selling high" on Terrell Davis. The jury is still out on Slaton, but I don't think you want to make a living off of dealing the Slaton's of the world at the first sign of great production.salmonstud said:Where would you guys rank Slaton in keeper/dynasty formats? RB #15....or higher/lower? I have an opportunity to move him right now & I'm seriously considering doing so while his stock is high.
How in the world did you manage that trade? Top 3 quarterback if not the top quarterback for a guy with 265 total yards, 53.0 ypg, 2 fumbles, and no touchdowns? Am i reading this wrong?AcerFC said:I would like to see this continue. I was excited that I got him late in my draft and he has done some great things but something in me is a little leery to annoint him the next great one.
I traded R Grant for D brees on the hope that Slaton keeps it up. Sounds like a lot on here expect this to continue.
Well, you called it on the rookie wall.I like Slaton alot too, but he has some things working against him:1. his size (5' 9", 200 lbs)...to keep him from getting hurt, HOU needs to rotate some others in, possibly using him on 3rd downs (this includes goalline work). Because he was put under wraps by the #1 Ravens rush D that's allowing 65 yds a game rushing?Forgive me, but I think we need a bigger body of work than that to assume Slaton has now hit the rookie wall.Well, you called it on the rookie wall.I like Slaton alot too, but he has some things working against him:1. his size (5' 9", 200 lbs)...to keep him from getting hurt, HOU needs to rotate some others in, possibly using him on 3rd downs (this includes goalline work). Probably because his coach said he's "worn out".Because he was put under wraps by the #1 Ravens rush D that's allowing 65 yds a game rushing?Forgive me, but I think we need a bigger body of work than that to assume Slaton has now hit the rookie wall.Well, you called it on the rookie wall.I like Slaton alot too, but he has some things working against him:1. his size (5' 9", 200 lbs)...to keep him from getting hurt, HOU needs to rotate some others in, possibly using him on 3rd downs (this includes goalline work). Still not gonna cut it. I need to see him get owned by a borderline defense first.Probably because his coach said he's "worn out".Because he was put under wraps by the #1 Ravens rush D that's allowing 65 yds a game rushing?Forgive me, but I think we need a bigger body of work than that to assume Slaton has now hit the rookie wall.Well, you called it on the rookie wall.I like Slaton alot too, but he has some things working against him:1. his size (5' 9", 200 lbs)...to keep him from getting hurt, HOU needs to rotate some others in, possibly using him on 3rd downs (this includes goalline work). True on that...he should be good to go next week. Coach just said he was worn out...but I think he meant for that game? He had a 58 yard TD called back (I think), so maybe he was gassed?MIGHT be a nice target for an RB2 if you can grab him this week, since AGreen and RMoats also got carries this week and his owner might be worried.Probably because his coach said he's "worn out".
Probably so as far as this coming week, but I think when Kubiak said "worn out" he meant that Slaton is hitting the wall, so to speak. The quote: “I would hope that him not playing as many reps this week gets him back to full speed, but the kid needed a break,” Kubiak said. “He’s played a lot of football in a short period of time. I expect him to bounce right back.”As the article states, he played a lot at WVA, then had to prep for the draft, then went right into working for the Texans. Then carrying a heavy load against some tough D's.True on that...he should be good to go next week. Coach just said he was worn out...but I think he meant for that game?
