Alone ( A real survival type show) (1 Viewer)

Alone Australia S3
I'm only 3 episodes in (8 out thus far)
Episodes 1/2 were released at the same time to get all the participants in.

The Good: Unlike most years, nobody tapped out in the first day or 2. Day 16 before the first tap out.
The eldest guy (Muzza) got 5 fish and 3 eels in 13 days - doing well with eel guts as bait.
Another guy (Matt) caught a couple eels before he might have tapped out - was the first to go - missing his 1 and 3 year olds.
Another dude is a trapper and made a decent funnel style trap for use on land and in the water.
Karla has built 2 shelters (initial day 1 basic build and one in a better spot on day 5 is a cabin style and the ground downslopes on 3 sides for rain run-off). She also caught an eel.
One female made a pulley system for a fish net - nothing caught though. Funny moments as she has - a lot - of trouble casting her normal line out. Was spearfishing for a bit. Built a rock wall in a creek where trout are trying to swim, made a gap in the wall to put her funnel trap - success!

The bad: With so many still going, nobody has distinguished themselves as memorable personality-wise just yet.
They stayed on a person for a bit instead of chronologically, so going back in time is a tad unsatisfying.

Previews in the intro show one shelter getting swallowed up / submerged by a lake (after a storm I assume).
Nowhere as depressing as Alone AU usually is.

Usually a pretty depressing version compared to the US series, but hoping for better outcomes:
Season 3 started up.

ALONE AUSTRALIA

Season 3 pretty good so far. Some of those traps they make are MacGyverish.
2 of my favs doing well:
The oldest competitor thus far at 63? He's definitely not a PC speaker and seems to be the best fisherman. But the gout...
And the brunette female has a positive attitude. Changed up from foraging to hunter as needed. Funny 'pet' and umm, period.

Anyone watching season 12 in South Africa? I missed the first three episodes when they came out and binged them over the weekend. Not sure I’m going to like the location as well as the traditional locations but it looks tough!

First 2 went out on day 4.
Depression is real and they showed it play out a little. Glad the dude recognized how heavy it can be on the brain/heart/soul and the hopelessness - even though he never thought he would feel that way normally. Hit him fast and hard.

Another tap out as just staying hydrated was a full time job of getting, filtering, transporting, and boiling water instead of doing much else.

They had a medical evac - no sat phone call for tapping. Pretty rare.

One girl is 'killing it' - got a warthog early on. Large enough (was it 450lbs?) , but small enough to transport and prep for storage + eating as the day's heat expedites the decay.

Did she say it was 450lbs or are you guessing? I think it looked pretty small. Just googled and it says that average weight for a female is 100 - 170lbs and I’m pretty sure she referred to her as a female.

She is doing very well!!

Gonna try to binge watch later today. Personally looking forward to a warmer weather climate change.

I think it'll make it a better TV show overall.

Could have been the quick whoosh of info they pop on screen = maybe 'as big as..'. Dunno. Could be mis-remembering entirely.
Agree that it seemed small, but heavy for her to get back to camp.
