Alone ( A real survival type show) (1 Viewer)

Fire it up! New season starts Thursday. Arctic circle

the cast
Hope for a revival for this show. I don't think any season will top Season 7 (I believe) with Roland. Though I did enjoy the earlier seasons with Larry ranting  It's been so long ago since it aired I don't even remember last season's Alone show/cast.

Their recent international spinoff versions have been downright bad. Alone Australia might been one of the worst shows I've ever sat through. Depressing even.

I've gotten into Naked & Afraid for the first time since Alone US version last aired. It's simply a better television show IMO and filmed more often.

I was watching Alone Australia via web browser where I couldn't cast to my TV. I got bored of it real quick when there was no food due to all of the hunting restrictions. I'd rather they repeat a same location with a decent mix of fish/hunt/gather instead of going to new locations where people are set up to just sit and starve.

Cubby 😢

What a way to go out
[ Worst/most dangerous injury on Alone that I can remember. How close was he to an artery and bleeding out?!]
Not very close.
I’m not a medical guy, but looking at a chart of the body and the femoral artery, it looks like that arrow head only had to go another inch or two and it was in the territory.
I mean, an arrow anywhere in a limb will almost always be a a couple inches away from an artery. But the rate of bleeding wasn’t arterial.

So to clarify, the arrow was close to blood vessels, including some arteries, but from what we saw, he wasn’t close to bleeding to death.

I definitely agree with you that he did not like in imminent danger. I was remarking that it was pretty close to being really bad or fatal.

Seems like there are more options on the table for acquiring fish/meat. should hopefully be a good season. After the season where one guy tapped out for losing his ferro rod, all other exits seem less embarrassing.

One of the blind spots for Youtube TV

Not having this channel

:kicksrock:
I'm in the same boat. Assuming that you have a smart TV or streaming device if you have YTTV, you can get the History channel app. They have ads peppered in there that you can't forward, but other than that, it's a good experience.

crap, I forgot that YoutubeTV does not have History channel... I have to figure out how to watch this one. Without using the website ;)

Wife and I are in for Alone, 1.11 tonight! Hoping there are some competitors that do more than just lay around and conserve energy.
i want to be in but it seems like that's all this show is after about 3-4 episodes.
Love this show, haven't missed an episode.. Saying that..
I'm afraid with it already at highs of 49 that the "hunker down and last starving longer than others" will start sooner than other seasons

we've watched a fair number of seasons but i think i've drifted away from it :(

might actually have been a season of Alone in Australia where they lived in some sort of Dagobah with no resources save rain. absolutely miserable.

Some thoughts after episode three.

Not sure about the guy digging out his shelter. Looks like it’s in a creek bed? Interested to see how that turns out.

Lots of fish at the moment. Will that keep up?

I get frustrated with contestants hunting for squirrels with their bow and arrow's. Even if they get it, they might get 100 calories and it’s far more likely to lose or break an arrow. Trying to trap them would be ok.

Speaking of risky shots, the dude trying to shoot flying ducks - wow!

I think it was the duck shooter that caught a fish and talked how he wasn’t planning on storing a lot of food, but eat it when he got it. I’ve thought that through the previous seasons. Unless you catch five giant fish in one day (like the guy that quit last night) or get a moose or deer, I’ve thought you should eat as much as you can when you get the opportunity.

Enjoying the season thus far.

Has anyone tried watching Alone Australia this season? Last season was so awful, we haven’t even tried this season yet.

Had the exact same thought about the creekbed shelter location. And he dug it down, so now he’ll be living in a waterfall?

I think moose guy eventually gets one.

I want to fish that spot. Those pike are beautiful

In survival situations when you only have a little bit of water the recommendation is to go ahead and drink what you have when you're thirsty and let your body do the rationing. People have been found dead of dehydration with a little bit of water left they had been rationing. Makes sense for food as well.

I’m going to miss Dusty! I enjoyed listening to him talk.

Hope he got that bug out of him! I got a bad case of the giardia from a wilderness trip when I was in college. After trying to deal with it from my dorm room for a few days, I ended up spending four days in the hospital. I know what he means about the burning in the belly.

He was in a ton of pain...

Ugh

That guy better have hit the Moose this time, or he might as well stay there as he will never live down missing twice when its within 100 yards.

For someone who bow hunts regularly, how hard is a shot like that?

Also, how likely would a single shot take down an ani Al that big? Seems unlikely.

Moose hunting with a bow is not uncommon and there are hunting seasons strictly for bow hunting moose. Moose aren't aggressive unless it's rutting season, late summer to early fall. Most bow hunters prefer to be under 50 yards. Your kill shot is in the heart or lungs.

Yeah, I figured lungs are the bigger target, but you still have to get between the ribs.

Being that precise with an arrow from a football field away seems reallly unlikely, to this non-hunter.

If Timber isn’t ill from bad meat, he’s only got to work at preserving the meat from predators and weather. Then it’s just battling the emotions for him. He’s got to stay busy so his mind and loneliness don’t get him.

I still wonder about the guy that dug out his shelter and the spot he chose. I hope he last long enough to see some kind of finished product.

Turning out to be an interesting season. Going into this week, I was wondering why no one did a food cache like William did to date (just put food at end of long branch up high). Seems like this week we're learning why this technique hasn't been used.

Looks like it's Timber's season to lose, but Dub and William aren't showing any signs of weakness yet either.

Solid season 👍

Timber is crushing it. Hope he takes this. Seems like he's still very fresh and could be out there awhile unless he comes down Ill
Haven't been able to keep up with it to current but Alone Australia has been a massive upgrade from the initial season. First session was so bad I questioned if would be back for another. The environment alone is a huuuuuuge upgrade. First season location was just depressing to look at

Good season. One of the better recent ones. Even thought Alone Australia was solid (had zero expectations going in with the disastrous Season 1)

Timber 😡

Both guys looked like they could have went quite a bit longer. I still think Timber just doubted he could outlast who was left.

Was hoping Timber would win, but William seemed to have found his survivor mode and I think he would have lasted another 20 days.

Now we wait for next year

For those of you who might find watching people going camping and sitting around interesting, Ive been fast forwarding through Alone Australia. Love that 7 days there makes the contestants act like they've been 40 days in arctic unforgiving Alone US... 3 people tap out after like 2 days in

I finished Alone- Australia.

The problems... Not having to battle predators or the elements (much- I'm not counting rain) makes for a lot of just sitting around. Don't even have to focus on the shelter.

The good bits- cast is great. I loved the final five and their attitudes towards everything. 2nd place was one of the better alone contestants I've seen.. non-stop and impressive solution solver. But SO unlucky. Winner was lucky, but also talented and I appreciated their approach to the game and to everything else.
