American Horror Story: Hotel (Season 5) (1 Viewer)

what the hell was up with that song and dance number? I get that she was imagining it but it really went on way too long. Still enjoying the show but yeah, it's all over the place.
Almost every show devolves into this type of drivel. It's like everyone on board has to prove they have these singing and dancing chops in order to fulfill some requirement. I hate these type of episodes.
I take it this is done in one take, not spread out throughout the whole episode? I have it dvr'd so just need to know that when the singing starts I can skip forward without missing anything.. TIA
it was about 5min long but felt like an eternity. i wish i FF'd through it. You wont miss anything

Yeah last episode bored me to tears. I still cotend way too much going on between the devil, aliens, ands a serial killer. The serial killer story is the only that interests me right now.
i read somewhere that there was supposed to be a hint during the episode of where the next season will take place, anybody catch anything?
It was something to do with the dance number. Show creator said he wants next season to be in a more glamorous type setting

yeah, my finger was on the button the whole time but I didn't do it because I thought it might pop into something sudden. Couldn't believe how long it went on.

Surprisingly, I loved that musical number. Perfect for a room full of insane people.

Hmmm, starting to think I should just delete all the unwatched episodes. I think I got through the first 3 or 4 and it isn't holding my interest at all. It is way too all over the place and I honestly have no desire to continue and hearing about a song and dance number makes me think I should just wait for season 3 and see if they get it back together. I loved the first season, but it was a single story line around one theme, not a shotgun approach.

It's not very focused but I'm still enjoying it.

Its still interesting due to the great acting by Lange, Paulson, & Cromwell

:goodposting: Better than the first season's EVERYONE IS A GHOST!!1! nonsense.

Dance scene fit right in to me, it goes along with the crazy flow. I also think Lange might have wanted to doll up after having to look so horrible for most of the season. Maybe Pepper can do a number next week?

Show is as crazy as some of the patients....I love it.

 IMO.. If this was season one, there wouldn't have been a season two.I keep watching cause it is different then anything else on and I'm hoping it comes together soon.

Then I would have rather seen them break into a dance scene as they are, not fake, normal people in a dream sequence. That would have been fun.

:lmao: I agree with this totally.

:goodposting: Everyone wasn't a ghost, until they died. I think I was pretty on when I thought about who was a ghost and who wasn't. I enjoyed season 1 far more than this season. This season if it was just about a serial killer could have been just as good as the last one. The alien/demonic possession/nazi experiments really made me disinterested. The bloody face story line was pretty solid and I thought the modern day Maroon 5 killer spliced with the asylum to show us how he started was great. I even liked the finish of Maroon 5 with the two goofball criminals who got whacked.Even though people have "enjoyed" it, I still can't get into watching the rest of the shows.

It's gone off the rails, but I still tune in to see what kind of insanity will ensue. The possessed nun was great this season and "The Name Game" last episode was fun.

I'm glad this is wrapping up soon, because now that Arden and Sister Satan are done, I don't have much interest in the remaining characters.

The last episode was truly bizarre (we enjoyed the musical number though it was totally twisted and unexpected) and the show has lost a lot of steam the last few episodes. We loved season one and think season two is decent. It started so strong.

The Americans looks great.

I hope season 3 of American Horror Story returns more to form (season one was brilliant).

Both seasons lost me as they went along. I think both would have been better as an 8-10 episode long season. I think it's cause I don't really care about any of the characters.

show is great. I love the "all over the place" approach. nothing quite like it...perfectly fitting for the Asylum setting

We're desperately thin on antagonists now. The monsignor isn't enough of a heavy to feel like this isn't limping to a weak finish (I didn't see S1, so maybe that's to be expected). The two babies feels like they're riffing off 'Child of Darkness, Child of Light', which wasn't strong enough to give a nod to, and I'm ashamed that I remember that piece of crap.

Season 1 was intriguing and kept my interest week to week, but season 2 jumped the shark within the first 5 episodes. There are 4 episodes on my DVR that I have no desire to watch.

I thought it was getting good when her and bloody face were both out and then she killed him  Looks like last two weeks are about jude and bloody face jr's relationship with mom

I agreeI love this season and it's crazy "throw stuff all over the place" approachI think it captures an essence of horror of grotesquely maginifying human frailties at a character levl and socity level. I love the camp and kitshy things, as well as the nice performances and psycho-sexual aspects that really peck away at the core of who we are.there has never been a television season like this and I think the creators' vision and coordination of this thing is brilliant.

This is kind of where I am, too. 4 or 5 episodes into this season, I said "eff it - let's see how bat #### crazy they can get". I think they could've maybe trimmed the amount of crazy a little and I understand those that think it's too much. You can tell the writers and actors are having a blast, and they've done a fairly good job of keeping things balanced but it's wobbled dangerously a few times. This season had more truly unsettling moments than last.I was trying to think of a social topic they haven't covered and am coming up empty.Homosexuality - checkAbortion - checkMisogeny - checkReligion - checkRace - checkMental Illness - check (duh)Genetic Engineering - checkNazis - checkMama Issues - double check (the "present" scenes in this last ep were the creepiest ever for a TV show}

:goodposting:I watched Season I for the entertainment value. I know it sounds strange to say - and I don't expect everyone to agree with me - but I find myself coming back to Season II for the art.

I had the same reaction for a season of Mad Men, not sure now if it was 3 or 4. It felt more like a work of art than a show. Does sound crazy though.

This season of "American Horror Story" is buckling down, and with only two episodes remaining -- "Continuum" and "Madness Ends" -- the vision is becoming evermore clear. And it's finally becoming evident what the real villain is. It's not the aliens or Zachary Quinto's Dr. Thresdon or the Devil or even present-day Bloody Face. It's just Briarcliff. You could be saying, "Well, duh. We all knew that," but it didn't hit me until just now when I starting writing this, so hold back on the condescension for a quick second. But Briarcliff is not like the Murder House in Season 1. Evil isn't rooted in its foundation. Evil just found its way through the doors. I mean, it's an insane asylum, after all; it wasn't going to be rainbows and butterflies anyways. And shutting down Briarcliff wouldn't even necessarily mean the end of the evil. It's like if Briarcliff is a stone thrown into a calm lake. The evilness that has walked the halls finds its way through space and time. Almost 50 years after Briarcliff's shutdown, the turmoil and suffering is still affecting Johnny Thresdon, a product of Briarcliff since Lana wouldn't have ever been raped if she wasn't committed."Spilt Milk" isn't a perfect hour by any means. It was slow and tedious at times. I still find Kit and Grace pointless, although they did bring a fine cliffhanger (I'll get to that later). However, the showdown between Lana and Thresdon was remarkably shot and definitely cringe-worthy, and the whole noir feel gave the episode an artistic boost. I also found the episode particularly well-written and entertaining while still having a great deal of substance, and I commend Brad Falchuk for that. (Note: The other episode he wrote this season, "I Am Anne Frank Part 2," is one of my favorites). The transitions between Lana and Thresdon and Johnny and his prostitute were really cool. It was just fun to watch without losing plot value. I could have done without the flashbacks to Thresdon having sex with Wendy's dead body. They were a little extreme. We already know Thresdon is a psychotic madman. We don't need anymore convincing. And then just like that, Lana kills him with one shot. His death was obviously justified, but it was a little underwhelming. Arden and Mary got proper sendoffs, in my opinion. It was just *bam* and he's dead. He didn't even suffer. I'm not a sadist or anything, but I feel like he deserved a little more misery. I guess in that moment, all I was thinking was, "Kill him! Kill him already! SHOOT THE *******!" And then she did, and I was like, "Oh, OK." Also, she didn't go through with the abortion which struck me as odd. I know she didn't want anymore death, but I'm pretty sure most people in her shoes would have gotten that thing removed ASAP. Of course, we all see what it becomes, but still. Bad genes, man. Bad. Genes."Spilt Milk" was significantly less over-the-top than your typical "American Horror Story" episode (I'm leaving out the whole Grace-in-Alien-Land flashback because I don't even know what that was), but I'm kind of OK with that. I liked the laid back feel. It had great moments and not-so-great moments and that's all I can really ask for from this show.

Losing my will to continue. Dylan McDermott's scenes are hilariously stupid.
What's up NigeDon't like the grown man drinking breast milk fetishI wish I would have just deleted all of them. But I started watching and then just felt to invested to not finish it out.

One thing that did bother me (not just one but....) is that Tate (forget his name in this one), clocks a cop on the head to get out of the station and they just let him go with no issues when it comes out he is not bloodyface

Thank god they reboot this show every year cuz this season is crawling. That being said jessica lange is a great actress

I thought the last couple episodes have been good, and I like how they are setting up the finale. Jessica Lange has been spectacular.

Season 3 Info

Jessica Lange isn't the only member of American Horror Story returning for season three.

During a Thursday press screening of Wednesday's second-season finale of Asylum, co-creator Ryan Murphy confirmed to reporters that both Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters would be coming back for next season.

"I'm just now meeting with a lot of actors, so I don't want to say too much, but they're actors Jessica wants to work with -- so she's sort of become a non-credited producer on season three, because she loves doing the show," Murphy said.

While details about next season -- including its likely subtitle -- are again being kept under wraps, Murphy confirmed that it would be a modern-day story revolving around Lange. "We do have a great icon, and it's a woman," he said, noting that the show would again be inspired by things that he's personally interested in.

"I always start off with things that I've always been obsessed with," Murphy said. "The season that we're just about to do is another thing like that asylum thing that I was always really interested in as a kid. I come up with the story, and it's obviously always now crafted around Jessica, for the most part. Before I talk to anybody, I go to her and tell her what the story is and tell her what the character is and she has input. This year, she said, 'I would like to work with X, Y, Z,' people she's always wanted to work with."

While details of Lange's exact role -- like everything else -- are scarce, Murphy said she would play a "really glamor-cat sort of lady."

Paulson and Peters would join Lange as having been in all three seasons of the FX anthology series -- with the former having a minor role in the first year as a psychic named Billie who coincidentally provided the clue to what Asylum would ultimately be about. Murphy also noted that the duo may not be the only season-one cast members coming back for AHS' third year.

"I will say that for season three, we are going to have some actors from season one who will return. I like that idea. I know that those actors are interested in that," he noted.

After two seasons of death and (literal) insanity, the Glee and New Normal co-creator also said AHS would explore familiar themes. "What season three is about is more historical in nature," he teased. "I'm also interested in getting into a horror romance. That's certainly something that's going to be in the water for season three."

"You're going to see a very different tone in season three, but that's the joy of the show," he added. "I think as a person right now I do feel lighter and wanting to embrace something a little bit more fun."

Like season two, Murphy told reporters that next year would again jump between time periods -- and cities -- and again remain a self-contained 13-episode season.

"I hope the show goes for 10 years, because I have so many different kinds of horror that I would like to write about," he said. "I love that you can jump periods, you can play with different actors. I know the actors love playing different characters, so it's something that we'll always stay with."

Peters, for his part, played a former serial killer named Tate confined to the house the Harmons bought in season one. This season, he plays Kit, a beleaguered good guy who was recently freed from Briarcliff, the institution for the insane at the heart of the sophomore edition.

Paulson is repped by UTA and Kipperman Management; Peters is with CAA and Luber Roklin. Season two of AHS concludes Wednesday at 10 p.m. on FX. Hit the comments with your theories on what season three is about.
