Is he still a top 15-18 LB in dynasty? He has lost alot of stats because of D. Jackson & L. Williams. How do you think he will do over the next few years?
DQJax didn't hurt him too much -- his stats weren't any more impressive than Ben Taylor's the season before -- but Jackson does have the talent to make more of a dent than the typical RILB. Leon Williams definitely stole stats and is the guy to watch here. It appears that the Browns would move Davis to RILB if Williams wins an ILB job. That makes Williams the high LB2 value and Davis the inconsistent LB3-4. There was some discussion of moving Williams outside earlier in the off-season. The Antwan Peek signing (along with the continued presence of Willie McGinest) may make that less likely, although it's possible you could see Williams outside on running downs and Peek when a pass rush is needed.
So if I read you right. if you do have A. Davis, it might be a good idea to handcuff L. Williams to him. That way you are getting high LB2 stats out of one of them.
You'll have to make that decision based on your style of roster management. Williams isn't a Barrett Ruud, Ahmad Brooks type player who the coaching staff clearly has pegged to work into an impact position at some point. He's a guy that was drafted later than DQJax on a team that recently signed it's primary ILB (Davis) to a long-term deal and was possibly going to be moved from inside to outside. There's a chance he'll push Jackson to a reserve role and shuffle the ILB situation, but it's probably an uphill battle -- otherwise he'd have already been talked up as a competitor inside this off-season.If you routinely handcuff your IDPs with maybes or have very deep rosters to hide some projects and wait-and-see rainy day types, I'd definitely have him on that short list. For now, I'd be much higher on guys like Gaither, Keiaho, Anderson, Cooper, Wilkinson and the like but have guys like Williams, Jamar Williams, Tyjuan Hagler and Jordan Beck on the backburner to pull the trigger on if/when the depth chart changes in their favor.
