Lot of Bruce Arians hate, please tone it down. He drafts a gem in the 6th round yet is an idiot?

That doesn't make any sense. Considering the majority of you probably didn't know who Ellington was until a few weeks into this season.

Let's leave the Arians hate out of this, it doesn't add much to the conversation and serves to make you look foolish.

Arizona's o-line is trash and I'm willing to bet we won't see Ellington on the field on traditional running formations.
I'm not talking about his drafting ability. I'm talking about his asinine reasoning for not giving a guy more carries. If he said something like "We don't feel he's quite ready for that load" or "We like him as strictly a change of pace guy based on what we've seen in practice" I could buy that. This nonsense that he is too small for a big role is ridiculous when we've seen numerous backs in this league have great success with almost the same body type.

What are your expectations for today?

I'd be happy if he has 15 rushes for 70 yards 5 receptions for 50 with a TD.

Hopefully I'm not being delusional.

You are definitely delusional if it would take that much to make you happy.

You wouldnt be happy with 60 yards rushing with like 4 catches for 40 yards, no TDs??

I am playing him over Sjax. Anything in double digits and I am fine with it.

The one who looks foolish is Arians who stated that Ellington could be a 3 down back and then totally recants that and states we have to watch how we use him because of his size?? Which is it? Besides if they are so concerned about his small size, use him in a Sproles type scheme more and he would perform to his skillset. Between the tackles he is not. So use him to his strengths and maybe keep Palmer off his back.

Perhaps this thread will look foolish in a few weeks. How many times over the years has a coach said one thing about a running back's usage, then reality turned out completely different? And when will we learn not to take everything they say literally?

so your happy if he is a top 5 running back, i would be too. nonetheless, i would be happy if he can get 15-20 touches. if he can do that, he should impress...

Updating a previous report, Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington is expected to draw the start in Week 8 against the Atlanta Falcons with RB Rashard Mendenhall (toe) doubtful. Still, head coach Bruce Arians, offensive coordinator Harold Goodwin and general manager Steve Keim each want to be careful not to overuse the rookie because of his slight build. "I look at him the same way," Arians said Friday, Oct. 25. "It's still a situational...I don't use the word 'committee', but we'll monitor how many times he carries."

Arians is a total tool.
Yes guys that small should just not play in the league. Players like Barry Sanders, Brian Westbrook, Warrick Dunn, and Ray Rice had no business being in the league. They could never make an impact at their respective sizes.
Arians turns around a 1-12 team around last year and takes them to the playoffs as the interim headboard, and now you guys think he's an idiot because he's not force feeding the smaller rookie rb on the roster? The delusion in this place sometimes...

agreed, esp since they said his role won't change.... someone will be getting the carries Mendy was getting not named Ellington it looks like until further notice... Now if elllington has 15 carries for 150 yards I doubt they use him less next week... I think he can earn more carries going forward for sure.

he seems to be producing at a 3x greater rate though bud, what seems so hard to grasp? 5-9 199 is irrelevant as it was stated in earlier posts that his BMI is higher then Chris johnsons and Jamaal charles.... He is actually pretty durable and hasn't had any big time in inj in college or pros.

This week is going to go a long way toward drawing conclusions for the rest of the season.

I wish him, and his owners, much success today.

All right let's rev up the bandwagon. Been holding him hoping he'd get a shot. Now he's gonna start, good opponent and have a ton of injuries/bye weeks so the stars seem aligned for a good performance. Let's go Ellington

I was starting him regardless this week with my entire team on bye so I couldn't be happier. KFFL believes he's going to see 20-25 touches which I find interesting but overly optimistic.

He's only #9 on Fantasy Football Now Flex Appeal. I guess being on the list is better than nothing though. Starting him in both of my leagues.

Would absolutely love it but agree that seems overly optimistic. As always will come down to production. If he kills it with his touches and others struggle it may happen but a lot of things likely have to occur for the best case scenario to happen.

Thinking Alfonso Smith is going to get a lot of work
Taylor may get some back up work.....but I have Ellington going in 2 leagues.....bye week.

Smith as a third down back here and there.

But I love this kids potential and hope this game is the spring board for him the rest of the year. He could end up saving a couple of my seasons where I have T.Rich killing me.

Nope he is banged up a little too from what I read.Taylor may get some work.....but I have Ellington going in 2 leagues.....bye week.

In same boat. Have trich in 2 of 3 and Ellington in 3 of 3. Been holding him hoping for the opportunity and today's the day...hope he make the best of it and puts a stranglehold on the job.

If he's the so-called "lead back" this week, plus what Arians has thrown out there in terms of "being careful" with him, that's SEEM to signal a pass-heavy attack today, right? Or am I assuming too much? Guess what I'm getting at is, IF they use him like Mendy, I don't see a big game out of him. IF, however, they do pass a lot on 1st/2nd down, I see him basically doing what he's done up to this point.

Exactly I'll take an 8 carry 5 catch, 80 total yard day in ppr

I have him in the lineup over MJD. Taking a shot at some upside today.

I'm sure this thread will be entertaining either way.
