Andre Johnson: Finally putting it together? (1 Viewer)

King of the Jungle

Dre is off to a great start, WR #1 type numbers. Just curious to hear from people who have had the chance to watch Houston play, if he is finally turning his potential into reality. Do you see Dre making the leap into the elite this year?

Yes. They're taking shots downfield to him (almost unheard of last year) and Carr is looking his way a lot in garbage time - preserving his value even if the Texans continue to look overmatched in every game.

Just looking at the stats and other info everyone knows

1. A new coach that has a clue

2. No running game. They had DD to count on in before, now no one

3. Carr's only been sacked 10 times over 3 games. Sad to say that 10 is an only, but when you're talking David Carr....

4. Repsectable WR lining up opposite of him. Moulds, while not his old self, is a lot better than anything else they've had there

All +s in my mind.

Well he is putting up great numbers so far, but I am still not sold on him. I do not see him moving into elite status this year. I would say more like 2004 when I believe he finished top 20 (or around there) fantasy wise.

Of course I could be wrong and this is his year. That would be a pleasant surprise, but if I owned him I would be selling high right now.

:goodposting: What Bloom said. Those that are actually watching the games (which I'm sure is only a few of you out there....I mean, this is the Texan's afterall) are seeing exactly what Bloom is describing above. True, Carr had been getting AJ the ball late in the first two games in garbage time. But, yesterday was different. They took a couple shots downfield to AJ and connected on one early. It looks like AJ is finally starting to fulfill his....p...ppp...ppppp....potential.

Hate to beat the dead horse but if the games were 3 quarters then these numbers are not that impressive. Luckily for Johnson he gets 4 quarters to build up stats while the Texans are throwing every down.

2 years ago he did well even when coverred by a good cornerback. No not everytime but definitely someone learning and "coming of age". After last year, once his confidence is backup, I expect that to continue. Same with Carr+confidence, this is easily the best he's done in his career. With all his talent, having options to throw to and not getting sacked a dozen times...they'll all be much better with some confidence. Carr might not be the greatest QB or (in hindsight) deserving of his high pick but what if he is? Or what if he's just simply good? Confidence does wonders for NFL playersFWIW In leagues that I don't have him, I've offerred alot for him and can't pry him away regardless of what I offer.

Luckily for me my league counts fourth quarter stats.

Don't see how this relates to fantasy football. The guy is a good fantasy player just for that reason that the Texans stink and will throw a lot coming from behind. As far as fantasy football why is anyone concerned when and where he gets his points? He's getting them.

What have you offered?
well for example, McGahee and this guy starts Shaun and "no one" as his 2nd RB every week. In fact I emailed him last night(after McGahee had 100+ in the first half) and he still wasn't interested. In another, Steve Smith. I don't want to deal with the hammy BS and he's a Panther fan.

Wow, I guess you are pretty high on AJ. I turned down an offer of his AJ for my R.Bush this past Friday. I may end up regretting it.

I figure in FF you need to have X amount of guys you count on and don't worry about(for the most part, week here or there). My first few rounds in the draft should get me these "locks". Smith hurts and if I can remedy that I'm going for it. IMO it's a fatal mistake to draft any risk in the first few rounds. I guess I goofed grabbing Smith. I "have to" end that

Smith will be fine for the remainder of the year. I think you would regret trading him for AJ.
