I could be way off base here but the feeling I get about gun control is the same one I had about cigarettes many years back when the first few bans started popping up. We are getting close to a tipping point where we are going to see changes. I'm not sure what but people are starting to get tired of these stories. I'm not sure how it will go - maybe cities implement a ban, maybe HOAs but I sense a change is on the way.

it's tough for cities to do anything. Philly has tried a few times and it gets locked up in different areas of the state or different legislative blocks. the things being suggested by Philly were always pretty senseible. i would have to look up the details, and i am too lazy right now to do so, but i remember 2 of them were a) you had to report any gun stolen to the police so they could track the gun and b) you were only allowed to buy one handgun per month i believe. the 3rd one they had was pretty sensible too, but i know it got locked up in government for months, or just enough time for many to forget about it, then it would be rejected for some reason.

Well Chicago isn't really fair bc you can go to the suburb and easily get one. The Stat I go to us the percentage of illegal guns that are at some point legal. But I agree that I'm pretty numb to it all. If a bunch of kids being murdered didn't invoke change don't know what will.
