A league I'm in decided to try antsports as our site this year. It is easily the worst decision someone has made in years. They are absolutely horrible. And the customer service has sucked as well.

What are they thinking putting out a product like that?

I got double charged for a league there last year and Steve still owes me $ 55.00. I sent Steve 25-30 e-mails before I got a response. He said he would look into it. I sent him all details and he still hasn't returned my money. This year, Steve reduced the payouts because he said the credit card comanies are charging him too much money. this will be my last year there i think. I know it will be if he doesn't return my $ 55.00. ( Or if he has absconded with everyones entry fees)I joined four league at Antsports this year. I must say though, This is the first time I have ever had problems with the site (server).Someone on this board was defending him in the pre-season when he announced the reduced pay-offs. I just need to find a good site to play next year. Any suggestions ?TIA :banned:

This could be ugly. I just did a look up on Steve's IP address and subs and there was a change made last night at 19:10. Cannot determine what change was made, it could anything from a simple update to a shut down.

Phone number of Ants power source - not Steve but the company he pays to remain on-line:

Deru Internet. 3443 N Central Phoenix, AZ 85012. Phone: (480) 998-7237

If you want to look for yourself here is a link that also identifies the company that Steve pays to keep Ants live:

arin

If you need to enter the IP for a search use:

140.99.28.170

Thanks Ironmen,I hope it's not a shutdown, however, it wouldn't surprise me.

Has anyone called Steve? I don't have the 800 # handy, but usually that's the only way to reach him.I checked a different IP on the class "b" that would be very likely allocated to a different end user (I used 140.99.5.5 instead of the 140.99.28.170 www of Antsports) - it shows the same record change @ 17:10. That might be the *only* good sign, because it indicates a potential ISP initiated change on the entire class B range instead of his allocation alone. The time of the update (17:10 on a Friday) could also signal ISP activity - if a ISP was going to initiate a change, it's likely they would start it "after hours" to affect the least amount of businesses. Anyway, there's hope.

Yes, Antsports is back up. Actually, the more I thought about it, the more confidence I had that it was not going to end up bad. If Steve had planned on ripping people off this year, he would not have reduced the payouts as i'm sure that caused many people to change leagues this year. As promissed, Below is the response I got from Deru Internet.

Well, I'm happy for everyone that is playing at Antsports this year as everything seems normal. Unfortunatley, that means the customer service will still suck !

You would think Steve would notify his customers if a change was in the works and down time was a possibility. But then again, he still hasn't responded to my e-mails about my $ 55.00 yet either. I guess the customer service will remain the same.

They've been going down for several years. I stopped using them this year.

Apparently so have a lot of other people. I will join the list next year  :bye: Antsports

To bad they have all these problems, I was with them last year. I think they have the best scoring system out there but I did not want to compete for such a small profit.

Does anybody know of another site with the same scoring but better payout?

It’s nice that Ants is back up.

More of a concern is the consensus that no one would have been very surprised if they had just shut down (me included). I've played at Antsports the last 4 years and I think it gets worse every year. Occasionally, you get some improvements - the site has been *much* faster this year, for example, but it’s offset by almost total neglect in evry other area. It's a shame, because the site has a ton of potential, but I see the end of the site coming soon – Fortunately, this wasn’t it! It really sucks that I’m going to have to switch, because I’ve put together some killer keeper teams there.

Do other sites like the Xpertsports one that was metioned do online public keeper leagues? I really like that format...

Arin is a WHOIS site. WHOIS is for looking up IPs, which you did. Look up any site. Steve doesn't pay them, neither do I or Joe B or ESPN or CBS or NFL.....you're way off on this one. Google WHOIS for more info

I think you misunderstood - Ironman was posting a "how to" look up Antsport's ISP, which was determined by a whois at Arin to be DERU.BTW, DERU appears to be claiming responsibility for this outage - here's the update from the support ticket I opened with them:

[Deru Support #80513]: Cannot access 140.99.28.170

Hello,

The problem is solved now. Please let us know if you require any further assistance.

I love the passion exhibitted here by FF guys. So upset over it being down for a somewhat brief time. I am extremely passionate and had it not been for my web design experience I'd have reacted the same.

When you guys chill, holler at Steve. I tell ya, that's one super nice guy. I understand you're feelings and I'm not telling you to or not to use Antsports in the future. Just...probably worth it to hear the guy out when forming your decisions.

Re my experience-I've seen hackers "kill" very well built and seemingly secure sites. We had some bad storms by me and I lost power by my home often the last two days. If a site were hosted by a company located by me, it'd be down. Trees down, snow everywhere, I could show you "evidence" of "what do you want me to do, I'm no electric company". Rather than carryon with examples, it could be anything....again, I have definitely reacted as some did here in the past.

None of that has anything to do with horrible customer service and an absolutely awful format/website (or whatever you call it).
