Interesting concept. I have Addai on the bye and DeShaun. I have Turner although NO LT.I'm actually thinking of starting both LT and Turner with Addai on a bye. It's either Turner or Foster, and it wouldnt take much for Turner to outperform DeShaun.
Odd, I have the exact same four RBs in one league.Hadn't even thought about starting Turner. Was going Foster all the way, but I'll be checking this thread to see if anyone can convince me otherwise.I'm actually thinking of starting both LT and Turner with Addai on a bye. Same here - hadn't even thought about it until this thread, but it doesn't seem unreasonable.Odd, I have the exact same four RBs in one league.Hadn't even thought about starting Turner. your first sentence captures the problem well. if you're going to start turner, you're looking not so much for a game against a poor rush defense as you are looking for a game that can be a blowout. the game opened as the biggest spread, amazingly even higher than rams at ravens. i kind of think the raiders will keep it close long enough to keep turner from being a good play. i'd like to see the chargers get above .500 before i start counting on them blowing out other teams.Always a risk, especially if Oak finds a way to keep it close. I'm considering it, since my other option is J Jones.
The difference is, Turner has skills Fargas, Carney, Evans, etc. don't.I think it's dumb........mine as well grab a full back off the wire (Carney, Evans etc) hopefully they fall in the endzone same riskI am not an LT owner but I think the whole Turner thing is OVER BLOWN didn't Justin Fargas do the same thing turner did?![]()
Personally, I wouldn't start him. He's too hit or miss. If SD is blowing out their opponent, he will get opportunities. But otherwise, he will get 4 carries or so.Found this interesting tho...MT - Career stats = 184 carries for 1,142 yards (6.2 avg), 6 TDsMJD - 2006 stats = 166 carries for 941 yards (5.7 avg), 13 TDs-----with MT most likely getting traded this offseason, and starting somewhere next year, will the hype for him be as high as MJD going into this draft? Will he be going 1st round (or early 2nd) next year?dragon10 said:I think it's dumb........mine as well grab a full back off the wire (Carney, Evans etc) hopefully they fall in the endzone same riskI am not an LT owner but I think the whole Turner thing is OVER BLOWN didn't Justin Fargas do the same thing turner did?![]()
There are other threads on this, but yes, if Turner gets signed by a decent team without a RBBC, he will likely get drafted in the late first / early second.Remember he is an unrestricted FA this offseason, so he will choose where to go. This reduces the likelihood of an RBBC situation IMO.-----with MT most likely getting traded this offseason, and starting somewhere next year, will the hype for him be as high as MJD going into this draft? There was talk about starting both Turner and LT last year after Turner had a big game. It was a bad idea then and it is a bad idea now. Never chase last week's points...especially from a backup RB.dragon10 said:I think it's dumb........mine as well grab a full back off the wire (Carney, Evans etc) hopefully they fall in the endzone same riskI am not an LT owner but I think the whole Turner thing is OVER BLOWN didn't Justin Fargas do the same thing turner did?![]()
I'm in a similar situation. It's either Norwood or Turner. Last week I went with Norwood, but after last week's performance, I'm leaning towards Turner this week. I know I can't base everything on past performance, but in this case, I just might do that.I'm either going with Turner or Thomas Jones. At this point I see no reason to start TJ so Turner gets the job if only by default.
I'm not going to do it, although it says more about how I feel about Foster's value than anything else.Don't do it unless you just have no other viable option. This same talk was brought up last year (playing MT because it was thought that the Chargers would be in a blowout game), and it didn't work more times than thought. Of course that was last year with last year's coach. But I specifically remember 2 instances in our league where the MT owner started him because he though it would be a blowout game, and only ended up with 2 points....even though one of the games was a blowout game. Suppose that Oakland does some how keep it close, and you'll probably see MT only have maybe a few touches (similar to weeks before week 5).
I'm glad you brought this up, because I fell out of my chair thinking it was 2006 again. LT was on my line-up performing the duty of two running backs and I was marching towards the playoffs...I know the byes are bad this week, but this is move you make if you have no other alternatives. Without the huge 74 yard run for a TD, with Turner your left with 73 rushing yards.I know its a new coach, and I am convinced Marty wanted LT to get the rushing title last year, but Turner never had more than 13 rushes in any game going all the way back to 2005. Just know what you are getting, 10 touches, a hope that he will maintain his blistering YPC, and a hope he breaks one off for a TD. To me, those are not enough touches to merit a start at RB2. If I was considering him in a ppr flex league, I'd look at WRs the caliber of a Roddy White, Nate Burleson, or Colston before Turner.Turner is too much risk for too little reward in my opinion. Also, these are not the Raiders of last year, so I see a much closer game this year.Don't do it unless you just have no other viable option. Yeah, if I squint my eyes really hard I can hardly tell the difference between Michael Turner and Justin Fargas myself. But you have to do it REALLY hard!dragon10 said:I think it's dumb........mine as well grab a full back off the wire (Carney, Evans etc) hopefully they fall in the endzone same riskI am not an LT owner but I think the whole Turner thing is OVER BLOWN didn't Justin Fargas do the same thing turner did?![]()
Are you kidding me?? C'mon dude.I am sitting LT this week but playing Turner. Turner produces more on fewer opportunities.
