Any more news on Jordan's Back? (1 Viewer)

Has anyone got any inside info regarding practices this week or even some insight into Jordan's back condition? Is Fargas going to end up with the majority of the touches this week against a weak Houston D or will Jordan suck it up and show us what he did in the first few weeks? I sure wish Kiffin wasn't so close to the vest sometimes. It's hard to read him.

Not insider info, but you have to think Fargas has more value going forward when the coach points out Jordan's 2.1ypc and his ineffectiveness in the post game press conference. Fargas has a burst about him, but can't carry the ball 25 times a game, so I think you will see a change of pace guy regardless to keep fargas fresh. Whether or not that is Jordan, Rhodes or Bush is anyones guess, but if they activate Bush then you have to assume that Jordan is cut/IR or Rhodes is cut. PURE (but realistic) SPECULATION!

Not to hijack, but who would you start Fargas over? I'm thinking about it over R. Bush.
before anyone gets crazy about Fargas, McCown is back and I expect Jordan to have a very good game, running and receiving.....
If we were talking about a healthy LaMont Jordan, I would agree with you. But with his sub-par performance last week and Fargas' ypc about 3 yards better against the same team, it's got me questionning how bad Jordan's injury really is. Could it be affecting him enough to not run with the power he is known for. Obviously if both RBs are healthy, Jordan would be the guy shredding this Houston D, but just because Jordan isn't on the injury report, it doesn't mean his back isn't keeping him from running well enough to be useful.

Note to self: If Michael Turner's YPC is better than LT2's, then Turner must be the better option over LT2. Just thinking outloud...

Sorry guys but let's be reasonable. I'm in Chicago and have seen the RB ran out of town thing. I don't see it here. Barring injury there is really no way that I can see them sitting Lamont after the terrific first few games. If that happens to every RB there would be a revolving door of flash in the pan RBs. OAK doesn't even have their QB situation figured out. What you might likely see is Fargas and Bush or Rhodes coming in for some carries but I'd be surprised to see anyone but Jordan getting the majority for the rest of the year. Barring injury.

I agree with you ... However a took the OAK RB Rumors hook line and sinker against my better judgement.I picked up Fargas and Bush and I am starting Fargas against Lamont Jordan in one league ... I can see this backfiring in my face big time.

This isn't a question of who is better. It's a question of who the coach is going to use based on who gives them the best opportunity to win. If Jordan's back is keeping him from being effective (which is the topic here) does Fargas, who seemed a lot more effective last week, take over as the primary back this week and even beyond. If LT2 was having trouble with an injury, yeah, we'd be talking about Turner the same way.So, has anyone heard any inside info on the status of Jordan's back and maybe what Kiffin might be thinking regarding who should carry the rock this week?

Lamont Jordan's avgs before the bye:

Det...4.7 YPA

Den...6.4 YPA

CLE...4.2 YPA

MIA...4.9 YPA

After the bye:

SDG...2.3 YPA

KAN...2.6 YPA

TEN...1.3 YPA

Note: He aggravated the back injury in Miami.

Clearly those are significantly easier defenses that he played against earlier, but that drop is pretty significant...To compare this situation to LT2/Turner is pretty ridiculous.

Not doubting Lamont's ability but I think the guy is still hurt.

I guess we'll see what happens today against Houston.

As a Jordan owner with no other real options this week, I struggled with this as well. I picked up Fargas and am actually considering playing the guy myself. It makes little sense to me that they would really try and get the guy in that much, but anything is possible and "Raiders Insiders" seem to think that is the way it will go.That said, I will probably start Jordan this week. So it will backfire for one of us.

If fargas takes over for lamont, dont fall into the hype. I'm a long time raider fan, and as far as fantasy, Fargas is too one dimensional to be successful...ever since USC days. His only good attribute is speed.....he's not very elusive, he can't run over people, and he doesnt have as soft hands as lamont does. Teams were stacking the box with jordan in and not so much with fargas. That game in mia, well it was mia. not much to say. And Jordan was going off on them before the injury as well.

Bump. This is an extremely frustrating situation. Lots of innuendo, but little in the way of verified reports. Any news would help a lot...

Fargas is a 3rd down type back. I don't see him taking over at all.

Remember how good Fargas did vs. Miami....who stared the next game?

I saw all the players staring the next game. They were staring at the crowd, at each other, and at the opposing team. Some of them even gave mean stares.

What was the QB situation as well? C-PEP runs rather than dump to Lamont...

Culpepper has been playing since Miami. There are probably too many factors to really figure this out right now. Lamont's back, different QB, tougher schedule.
