Any Patrick Jeffers or Reuben Droughns on the horizon? (1 Viewer)

Not necessarily "guaranteed to finish top-10 at their positions", but guys that could be consistently starting on fantasy teams during the second half of the season. Even though they are still under wraps even now, and available on the waiver wires of small/tight leagues.

Gus Frerotte is one that a lot of people nailed earlier this week. His opportunity is pretty good ... just need to see if he can run with it.

Another to look at, IMHO, is Brady Quinn. Not in love with Tyler Thigpen's opportunity ... but his targets are decent in Bowe and Gonzales.

Hard to think of any at the RB position ... maybe K Lumpkin/B Jackson in GB if Grant comes up brittle. Who could potentially replace Larry Johnson -- is Jamaal Charles first in line?

Both PUP guys, or just Torain?EDIT: Still leery of Denver RBs ... hard to think Torain steps in and gets all-downs touches and all the goalline work.
If I had to venture, based on Shanny quotes and the manner in which the other Denver RBs distinguished themselves, he might not be into full gear until fantasy playoff time, but if he's runnin then, he might be very potent. From what I recall, Portis didn't really get into gear until Week 6 or 7 of his first breakout year, but he carried lots of us to titles then.

I think Hightower could be big, but Edge would have to suffer a mishap probably or decline in production some more.

Chris Taylor - I still light a candle for him each night. Green has proven he is toast, and Slaton isn't an every down back. He isn't going to set the world on fire, but he could put up Fred Taylor numbers.

Jalen Parmele - Big negative here is pass protection issues. But all the hype about Ricky has fizzled out, and Brown is still playing himself back into shape. He should get chances. Very good measurables and good camp.

DeDe Dorsey - Not one I believe in but definitely one people are mentioning. Poor man's Sproles.

Yeah I agree. Shanahan kept Torain off the PUP and IR and none of the other backs seem to have the job yet.

Missed this ... thought Torain was, in fact, on the PUP.
No, he's not on the PUP, but not because Shanahan kept him off of it. Once you practice in preseason, you CANNOT be put on the PUP list. Since Torain practiced before he got injured, the PUP list wasn't an option. Shanahan DID keep him off the IR--read into that what you will.

Bobby Engram seems like a guy who could be useful.

Deep sleeper: Devin Thomas, I think he'll beat out Thrash soon and Moss and Randle El are both injury prone.

Ah, thanks for the correction. The more important part was the IR, I think. My guess is that he thinks holding the roster spot is worth what Torain can offer later in the season.
