Any Roethlisburger owners considering the bench here? (1 Viewer)

Trust me........... :goodposting: The Steelers want to get Ben cranked up for the playoffs. They might be able to run all over the Panthers but I think at least for 3 quarters, you are going to see a lot of passing. Arians was taped in the local radio that they are going to go a lot of no-huddle tonight. I see 300 yards with 3-4 TDs. They aren't going to win the Super Bowl without Ben having full confidence in his young (other than Ward) receiving crew.
Damn, you may have just put me over the edge here. Probably starting Ben over Garrard.Everything points to Ben having bad numbers, and Garrard having a better day, which may be why the opposite happens.

I see your angle but I really think that as long as they are successful for 2 1/2 quarters ,and have a secure lead, Ben does them more good to be healthy I'd think. No reason to risk him with the Oline issues if the game is in hand.250 2 TDs I think is his ceiling unless Carolina miraculously puts up a fight.

Good points from both of you. Hmmmm....got me thinking again.

I did bench Ben last week in my playoff game for Collins. I didn't like the matchup with the Jets. Unless you have a top 5 option, I think Ben is the play here.

I wouldn't call Matt Ryan a top 5 play but I'd say he has a real legit chance at 2-3 TDs and his 2nd 300+ yard game of the year. There will be no relaxing in that contest. I can't say the same for Ben's game.

I can definately see playing Ryan but I'm just not worried about Ben not putting up numbers tonight and just being content to run it down their throat. They WILL throw tonight. Early and often. The 4th quarter might be the Mendenhall show if the game is out of hand but Ben will have already put up big stats by then.

Im torn as well...

I have Ben, Kitna and Tebow and heres my take...

Ben is probably good for 200 and 2 TD's tonight... though with the weather, and the fact that CAR's D is much better against the pass than the rush, I could see Mendy getting the bulk of the work and red zone looks, and snagging 1 of Bens TD's... If its a blowout, I think Ben is limited, if Car can make a game of it, I think Ben does better...

Kitna is probably good for 250 and 2 TDs, though the ARI D is so terrible against the run, they might just pound the rock with the now 3 headed monster, again with a crap QB in ARI do we see another blowout?

Tebow - Complete unknown-- Could throw for 250 and run for 50 with 3 TD's or he could throw for 150 and no td's.... pure crapshoot here... However, both D's suck so this could be a high scoring affair.. HOU Pass D is last in the league and give up lots of big plays... can Tebow make a few? My concern is Foster chewing up ground and clock and keeping the DEN offense on the sidelines...

What say you?

I've got 3 Cowboys in the starting lineup (Austin,Buehler,Dallas DST) and I could really see a nice game for Kitna. I think his floor is Ben's ceiling.Tebow is just way too much of a wild card to trust your championship game with. Can you imagine how bad you'll want to punch yourself in the face if you start him and he goes for 125 pass 30 rush and no TDs? We are talking about a rookie QB in his 2nd start.

Why are you so convinced that they will throw against the Panthers will teams really don't? Is it just to get Ben synced in? You don't see this game being over by halftime?

I would take Kitna over all of them. Unfortunately I'm stuck choosing between Ben and Tebow. I also fear that Ben will be limited tonight if the game is over quick. Living in Houston, I also know how PATHETIC the Texans defense is this year. I have em ranked Kitna/Tebow/Ben, but flip flop every 30 minutes.

Yeah, that would be a pretty sh&$$y feeling.

Deciding between Ward and Rice to fill my last WR spot. Im thinking this game is over at the half and Steelers pound the ball but that seems almost too predictable......

Because I've seen way too many Steeler games. Either the Panthers are going to make this a game or Ben is going to have a field day in the first 3 quarters. The Steelers don't shut down the pass after halftime.

and weather, be it cold, snow and a bit windy is par for pittsburgh this time of year, or baltimore, cleveland or cincy, so the 'Lers are used to it, they practice in it, live in it. Carolina doesnt.

Ben is a nice pick this week IMO, not Brady type numbers, but solid nonetheless.

Choosing between Ben, Culter, Tebow, and Collins, and Grossman. Leaning towards Ben... Black&Gold is convincing... But Grossman is tempting. Thoughts?

They might run it 50 times tonight.

Carolina will have many 3 and outs, so yeah, the steelers might run 40+ times, but still throw 30. The Steeler O will be on the field the vast majority of the game IMO. And I think its Chris Gamble thats out tonight, so the Car DBs are down one of their best. And Heath Miller is back.

I benched in one Super Bowl for Rex Grossman ......... hey, I'm going against a stud team and needa magic last Sexy Rexy brought last week

Shout-out to Black&Gold for the homer slant. Can only hope Ben comes out on the opening drive of the second pissed at the missed opportunities and throws another TD.

Congrats to those who started him. That's a quality game right there. Now Pitt would be real smart to run this game out or sit him down ASAP.

I love all the people who come out of the woodwork to say "See, I told you so". :excited: So you don't contribute to the conversation at all and then you knew it all along. :lmao:

If Pittsburgh makes their FG at halftime and Mendenhall goes in on one of two tries at the 1 yard line on the opening drive of the third, Roethlisburger's stat line is going to end up at about 275 yards and a TD. Wow.

Yes.......but Ben could have had a much bigger night than he did as well.

Well we all knew he "could have" had a big night. That's what created the conversation. The obvious problems were stated and were actually playing out. Pitt got up big early and was about to makie it real big rendering Ben useless but they tripped up a few times and hence the increased production. The johnny come latelys who show up after the fact are just lame.

Yeah but unfortunately he didn't do it last week and knocked me out of our Super Bowl!

Those suck but I think every Ben owner would have been happy with 320 and 2 TDs, if you told them that's what they could have at the beginning of the game.

Better than either of the 2 games Brees had against them this year (275-1, 254-2)Best game of any QB against them this season actually.
