I briefly scanned thru the Minnesota Star Tribune website and didn't see anything in terms of a timetable from Taylor. I would expect more to come out of this today. I would be surprised if he doesn't play next week though, it didn't seem that serious.
From Rotoworld via the star-tribuneAn MRI Monday revealed that Chester Taylor suffered a "contusion of his oblique" during Sunday's Week 1 win over Atlanta.
"There is nothing structurally wrong and it’s just extremely uncomfortable right now," coach Brad Childress says. "We’ll get that settled down and see where he comes by Wednesday." It sounds like Chester may play in Week 2. Source: Minneapolis Star-Tribune

Chester Taylor: MRI Shows Oblique Injury

Update: An MRI on Taylor's hip injury showed a "contusion of his oblique" head coach Brad Childress told the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "He's a pretty tough guy so he'll treat that thing," Childress said. "There is nothing structurally wrong and it's just extremely uncomfortable right now. We'll get that settled down and see where he comes by Wednesday."
Recommendation: The injury that caused Taylor to leave Sunday's game in the first quarter was first thought to be a hip injury, but now it's being called an oblique injury. Oblique injuries always seem to last longer than first expected, so Taylor's status is very much uncertain for Week 2. Adrian Peterson is likely to get the bulk of carries as a result.
It really is the smart move for Childress to make Peterson the starter and build the offense around him. Whether he does remains to be seen. However, it would also be smart to keep Taylor involved. Peterson had his share of durability issues in college so it would be smart to protect him and keep Taylor involved. But I think the Vikings really need to give Peterson 15-20 carries a game and see what he can do. He's by far their best offensive weapon.
