Anybody Not Believe in Global Warming Anymore? Make Your Case In Here. (1 Viewer)

In a thread at another board discussing "how will history see the climate deniers?," a thread sorta similar to our "Trump supporters in 20 years," one denier said that history will blame those who are taking climate change seriously for "not being convincing enough." People like that never lose an argument.

Yeah this argument is a pretty tired one. Some people use it against the Ds just in general by way of the "you were supposed to be the good guys but you are only a little better than the bad guys so I hate you the most". 9th grade level stuff.

Latest Report on Climate Change - done by the Feds under Trump

Released on Friday after Thanksgiving by the scumbag administration. The report is mandated to be done every 4 years, there's nothing these guys can do to stop it other then bury it.

It's clear we are doing this. Bunch of dopes will try and spin it otherwise including our Prez who is tweeting about how cold it is like a drunk uncle.

Some highlights from the report that sound pretty great:

"A new climate report from the federal government released Friday warns that current global and regional efforts to stave off the devastating effects of climate change are insufficient. 

The report, the first of its kind released under the Trump administration, finds that climate change is expected to interrupt the way people live day-to-day as it ravages infrastructure, impacts human health, poses challenges to the global economy and threatens the world's energy supply.  

The Global Change Research Act of 1990 mandates that the federal government release a report about global warming and climate change every four years. This report, the Fourth National Climate Assessment (NCA4), is the latest fulfillment of that mandate. It is the counterpart to the Climate Science Special Report, which was released last year. 

The damning report, which analyzes the effects of climate change by U.S. region, comes as President Trump has continued to cast doubt on the scientific consensus that global warming and climate change are caused by human activity. Trump on Wednesday seemed to scoff at the idea of global warming, tweeting:

The report states emphatically: Global warming exists and it is a threat to humankind's survival.

"Global average temperature has increased by about 1.8 [degrees] from 1901 to 2016, and observational evidence does not support any credible natural explanations for this amount of warming," the report reads. "Instead, the evidence consistently points to human activities, especially emissions of greenhouse or heat-trapping gases, as the dominant cause." 

"The warming trend observed over the past century can only be explained by the effects that human activities, especially emissions of greenhouse gases, have had on the climate," the Fourth National Climate Assessment reads. 

More than 300 federal and nonfederal experts participated in creating the assessment, which is based on scientific research and on-the-ground discussions with those impacted by climate change.

Awaiting a bunch of cut and paste stuff that no doubt originates from some Koch brothers think tank about how temperatures rose much quicker in the Mesozoic era and that this is all made up.

 
1600 page doucument so lots to parse through, the more that comes out of this report is just brutal. All aspects of life impacted. Economic implications are insane. We’ll see if it gets covered by Monday. 

Should be top story across the board seeing as we kind of need to a place to live and all.

Yes, but Mother Nature told me she isn’t warming. She told me about 5 times, so here we are, no way to really know what happened. The world is a vicious place, whaddya gonna do.

Nixon goes to China...an old Klingon proverb that meant that only a rabid-anti Communist could engage in talks with a Communist country.

Trump is the titular head of the Republican Party.  Its agenda flows with him.  For the head of the Party who has been vehemently opposed to the idea of man made global warming to embrace the idea that it is happening would make him (and by theory, the idea of combating it) immune from it's biggest critics.  Embracing the idea that global warming is real (something his own scientists have said to be true) and then vigorously combating it would also silence just about everyone on the Left; as we've been told time and time again (with the Left leading that charge) that global warming....not same sex bathrooms or Migrant Caravans or White Nationalists or ##### Grabbing...IS THE GREATEST THREAT TO MAN KIND!!!!!!!!!

The only logical conclusion then, Captain....is that if he takes that bull by the horns, fights it and makes inroads in solving the problem (and I'm assuming there'd be a fundamental, gigantic, benefical shift in both energy and environment with that effort).....he would have to legimately be viewed as having a great legacy.  

ETA: It's all mental masturbation on my part as we know he's not going to do it and continue to suck.....but it'd be interesting if he realized this.

America colonisation ‘cooled Earth's climate’

Colonisation of the Americas at the end of the 15th Century killed so many people, it disturbed Earth's climate.

That's the conclusion of scientists from University College London, UK.

The team says the disruption that followed European settlement led to a huge swathe of abandoned agricultural land being reclaimed by fast-growing trees and other vegetation.

This pulled down enough carbon dioxide (CO₂) from the atmosphere to eventually chill the planet.

It's a cooling period often referred to in the history books as the "Little Ice Age" - a time when winters in Europe would see the Thames in London regularly freeze over.

"The Great Dying of the Indigenous Peoples of the Americas led to the abandonment of enough cleared land that the resulting terrestrial carbon uptake had a detectable impact on both atmospheric CO₂ and global surface air temperatures," Alexander Koch and colleagues write in their paper published in Quaternary Science Reviews.
