Anybody willing to start the (gulp) Denver D this week (1 Viewer)

I am considering it, but keep in mind denver has the worst FF def in the entire league thus far...at least in my league. So it's a battle of the worst off vs the worst def. lol

I may go with 49ers vs Seattle instead...because I don't feel good starting the Bears vs Pats.

Using the D playing Arizona has been fantasy gold lately, but this is pushing it. Plus my rosters lock in a lot of my redrafts, so I would be carrying the Broncos D into the playoffs

This is a tough call. And I just read that Denver's Joe Mays and DJ Williams (serious elbow injury) could miss week 14. That's two starting LBs out. I don't think Arizona will throw a whole lot vs Denver. I can see them just run the ball all day which will limit ints and sacks.

The problem with this logic, is that Denver will likely score at will on the Cards def...making them unable to run all game.

i'm considering it since my only defense right now is san diego (chiefs one of the best in the league vs fantasy defenses)

den d may still be a good start, but i've been saying since the preseason that skelton is the best qb on their roster. don't understand why it took all this happening to give him a shot.

and it's great news for fitz owners imho.

Who the hell is he? Did arizona run out and now are using their punters as qb?It makes me wonder...was Leinart really THAT bad that they wouldn't even give me the chance to start? I mean...seriously?
Matt, is that you?

Wasn't this the strategy that worked so well when Denver played the 49ers and Troy Smith? I'd think Denver scored a big round zero that week in most formats, why is this different this time?

I'd start Denver D if Derek Anderson was under center. In fact, John Skelton would concern me more than Anderson for the mere fact that he might only be "bad" rather than "terrible" (we just don't know at this point).

i played the Rams-D agaisnt 'Zona and it was fun to watch. But Denver. .?! :lmao:
I've done that 2 weeks in a row, with SF the week before that. I'm dropping and adding and I don't mind playing the Denver D, Arizona will screw up against anyone. If you don't have an elite D, start Denver D with confidence.

He was the Arizona Cardinal's 5th-round pick in the 2010 Draft. Was rumored to be taken in the 3rd-round but like all the other QBs (not named Bradford) he slid. He's notorious for having a cannon; has a huge frame at 6ft 5 / 244 lbs; his release is reported to be just as fast as Peyton Manning's (
); but I've got no clue about the young man's accuracy / intangibles.I do know that many viewed him as a very raw and a project player; which surprises me that with nothing to gain in this season that Ken Whisenhunt is going to risk "ruining" his project QB by putting him behind that horrific line.

NFL.com says,

"Skelton is a good-sized quarterback with a major league arm. The problem is that he does not know how to use his arm to his advantage. He tends to rely on arm strength alone, when throwing the ball and does not do a good job of getting his feet set under him when throwing from the pocket. He can throw on the move, but his accuracy suffers a lot. He will need a ton of work when it comes to reading NFL coverages and going through his progressions as he looks for the best target. Teams may get too enamored with his arm strength and overlook how much development it will take before he is ready to play."

Does not always set his feet when he throws, which results in a lot of errant passes. Overconfident in his arm strength and forces too many throws. Struggles reading coverage and does not show the ability to consistently find his second and third options. Played at the Division 1AA level and will have a steep learning curve.

"Skelton possesses prototypical height and bulk. Has excellent arm strength to make all the NFL throws. Generates great zip on the ball and can fit it into tight spots. Fluid athlete who avoids the rush and gains positive yards scrambling when receivers are covered. "

Is it me or did they just compare Skelton to Peyton Manning? Top waiver addition this week? 300 yards and 2 TDs vs Denver? Book it!

This spells INTs to me.

It's hard to imagine that Skelton could be much worse than what they've gotten from DA and Rusty Griswold. A bad defense going against an unknown commodity would scare me as my playoff defense...it's not like there aren't some weapons in that offense.

Sound a lot like Jamarcus Russell. Pass the Purple Drank.....

Tough call. I have no doubt that the Ariz offensive is bad regardless of who is at QB. Skelton could actually be an upgrade over DA.

The decision here is will Denver D step it up this week? They are one of the worst defenses in the NFL. This is a very tough call. It's a high risk high reward type of play. And if I'm going to go with a high risk high reward type of play in the fantasy playoffs I rather take my chances on TB @ Wash who just gave up 6 turnovers to NYG in week 13.

didn't the denver def hold KC to 10 points and completely shut down bowe. i know KC is not a powerhouse offense, but charles/TJ + cassel to bowe is much more formidable than hightower/beanie + 3rd string rookie QB

I am really thinking about this. Otherwise will probably go with Seatle against San Fran against Seattle.

Arizona plays teams in the next 3 weeks that are likely on the WW.

Week 14: Denver

Week 15: Carolina

Week 16: Dallas

You could also use Dallas Week 15 at home against Washington if you can't bear to use Carolina.

I only have Seattle, so I'm seriously considering this.

Leinart must of really pissed off some high brass because the QB situation in Zona has been terrible all yr; did they really think they would ride DA to the top of the Division, even the weakest Division in the NFL? Then their back up play was Max Hall and Skelton... I know Matt avg if best, but he was by far a better option than these guys. No wonder Kurt didn't want to comeback.

depending on optins I would. Denver has a nice pass rush. And rookies usually get picked a lot.
they have 18 sacks this year. 2nd worst in the league.
9 sacks in the last 4 games according to 'Defenses on the Rise'http://subscribers.footballguys.com/2010/10haseley_bts66.php
Looking at that link makes me want to run with Cleveland even more. 10 sacks over the last 4 games and 9 INTs over the same span. Plus they are calling for a bad weather game. Thoughts?

Cleveland is golden for the playoff run. I tried to get them but someone beat me to the punch.I say go for it.

Very strongly considering denver over my other option (SF).

My league rewards heavily for points allowed and yards allowed. I just don't see arizona moving the ball consistantly. Good chance for turnovers.

I don't know if anyone's mentioned it but Denvers offense aint too shabby. If they jump out to a quick lead I think they'll pin their ears back and go after the qb hard.
