Anyone figure out CBS's new interface? (1 Viewer)

Dumb question I can't find. How do I customize the full MFL page? I know how to put in my custom messages and or change the skin but what if I want to create my own skin...
Not positive, but I think you probably create your own pages and css files and enter them in the "Images & Other URLs" section of the Appearance Setup menu. I have made minor edits to the css files before and uploaded my edits, but a lot of this is beyond my knowledge.Edit to add: I assume you're not talking about just changing which modules appear on the home page, but instead talking about redoing the way they look.
Correct.I have created a custom "HTML" page and added it as a tab on the home page, but I want to change the "whole" thing. Been a long time since I looked at .CSS stuff. Thanks

New CBS interface really sucks. Nothing is easy to get to, and you sometimes have to go through several different screens to get to the one you want.I can't figure out how to search for a player in the free-agent pool. You have to either go to Scout Team or Add/Drop to search. Going to the stats page just lists them without search capability, so if you want to see someone's stats you have to dig.
First selection under the Player menu is Stats. They are sortable and customizable using the fields on the top of the page. What is it you're trying to do?BTW, CBS wouldn't work right with my version of ie. I had to download Firefox. Works like a charm now!

How much $ are they bending people over for these days?? We left CBS years ago for (free) NFL.com and we couldn't be happier.

Cannot stand the drag and drop for setting lineups. This is going to cause problems, I can tell already.
Ditto this. And the failure of CBS to remove their quick player search (as far as I can tell, you have to pull a player out of a position list) just has me completely  and :loco: and  It's too late for us to switch, but I do think this is our last year at CBS.

Anyone figured out how to change lineups on an iPhone yet? The drag drop doesn't seem to work and I don't think their app is out yet for this year?
I still use CBS for baseball unfortunately and the CBS site thru Safari is an absolute nightmare. (at least for me) But if you go to the lineup page, just select the player you want to sub out, he will be highlighted, then select your bench player and they should switch spots. This works on the baseball site at least, no drag and drop.

$150. Yea we really need to get off CBS. It's just ridiculously overpriced for what they offer now.
That's not too terrible, it was $140 when we left years ago an I thought it was way too much then. Actually suprised it hasnt hit $200 by now. It was once th best site available but since has gone to the crapper, at least for that kind of cash it is.

I commish a long standing CBS league and we just had our draft last night, what a complete cluster. Any commish's figured out how to make add drops and trades for other teams with the new interface (we have a ton of traded draft picks in this keeper league, CBS won't allow us to assign keeper picks or trade draft picks so we need to manually move them around for people)? A borderline bad product went straight in the ####ter with this latest "upgrade".

What a complete disaster. My entire league is throwing a fit.

The CBS league website was WAAAAAAY too easy to navigate in the past. We cannot let that go on!

Same problem. This new CBS interface is horrible!!!

We cannot figure out how to setup our WR/TE flex positions. It is really infuriating. This will probably be our last year with CBS.

Don't just sit there and take it! Everyone click that feedback tab under "HELP" and tell them how much they suck.

I told them that this is absolutely our last year with them if they don't change it back to the way it was.

One email from me won't do jack. But emails from 500 of us just might.

When Coca Cola went to "New Coke" there was so much outrage, they admitted their mistake and fixed it.

No reason this should be any different. Companies who don't listen to their customers will soon have none.

Feedback sent:"Honestly this is just one of the worst product "upgrades" I've ever seen. It is less intuitive and much harder to use. It's almost as if you have contempt for your customers. Whoever was responsible for green-lighting the development of this disaster should be fired, and CBS should issue apologies to everyone that attempts to use this nightmare of a website. Don't you people have any pride whatsoever in the product you are trying to sell? Aren't you embarrassed to offer an increasingly worse site from year to year? I almost feel sorry for the CBS employees. I couldn't sleep at night if I tried to sell #### to people... but that's just me... I have integrity and pride in what I do."

:lmao: I wrote the same thing.

Final nail in their effin' coffin, as far as I'm concerned. :hot:

From extremely user friendly, to ridiculously/unnecessarily cumbersome ... WTF? I am in two pretty substantial $ leagues, and one moderately so ... all three on CBS ... lookin' forward to those 12:53 lineup switches/add-drops about as much as a friggin' root canal sans the 'caine.

Ish on a stick, and we have ponied up for the last time. Feedback sent, and then some ... :wall: :wall:

While they haven't updated the App it has my new team loaded up fine and I'm having no issues changing my lineup on my iPhone.

Hello Elbowrm,

I am sorry to hear that you do not like the new format. Unfortunately, there is no way to opt out. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Have a great day!

The have a great day really pissed me off.

This is what happens when they offer their product at such a bargain price. They don't have the money to pay for proper development.

:excited:

You actually get a discount if you're a league coming from CBS, as well. Just another reason.
I am sure the answer to all this will be a "YES!" But can some of you MFL users tell me..

Does the site allow you to have "draft picks" on your rosters? We normally roster what we would call "2013 1st Round Pick Team XXX" and these get traded around all the time.

At the end of the season - we convert all the draft picks into actual draft slot numbers - for example, we would change the "2013 1st Round Pick Team XXX" to Pick #X

Will MFL maintain and add to the league records?

Will MFL be able to import or setup our league scoring system (which is pretty complicated with bonuses for stuff like QB Rating"

Does MFL have any APPs? Like iphone or ipad - so users can manage things from their mobile devices?

Love to hear all the answers.
How do you do this? We have been trying to figure out a system for trading draft picks for years. Nothing good other than a google docs solution so far, and that sucks. We are stuck on CBS unfortunately. Too much history, and the move to MFL would cause way too many issues for people. Our commissioner would wind up hanging himself. That said, I despise CBS - everything about it. If I were starting up a league today there is no chance in the world I would even consider using them.

Here is a tutorial for this garbage which may be helpful to you.

Immediately following this presentation, there will be a 3-hour quiz on what you've just learned.

CBS is absolute garbage on the iPhone. Total waste of money. Unfortunatly the two leagues I've been in the longest utilize this crap site

Just now realized that the reason I can't see headers is because its set to black type on black background. I have no idea where to change this. USed to be a customize choice in the menus somewhere but I can't find it for the life of me. This is the absolute last year for CBS. $150 for this ####? My god.

ETA: Figured it out. Only on the Home page of your league's site. So stupid. Its like a college web major's senior project is building this site.

I have been on several different sites but been on CBS since the first year they had it. So how long do you think I kept messing with all the "stats" options on my team page before I figured out that it wouldn't give me my team stats from 2011? For that you have to go to players and then set all the filters to just your team and then change the year.

I have not had any major complaints, but this year the site is borderline unusable.

I have a couple of questions for the MFL guys if you don't mind.

1. If you run a blind bid auction for free agents can it assign the bid amount as the players salary?

2. Can you have a injured reserve that doesn't count the injured players against the roster cap?

TIA

1. Yes. Go to the menu Commissioners -> Setup -> Blind Bidding Waivers Setup. Toggle the option "Do Winning Blind Bid Waiver Amounts Get Assigned As Player Salaries" to "Yes".2. Yes. Go to the menu Commissioners -> Setup -> Salary Cap Setup. For "Percent Of IR Player Salary That Counts Towards The Salary Cap" enter 0%.

PLEASE go back to the way the interface was in the past. Immediately. This new layout SUCKS!!! Do you guys ever do any Googling to see what people are saying about your product? It's awful, terrible, asinine. Whomever designed the new layout should be fired immediately. We have used CBS to run our league for well over a decade. If you don't get rid of all this new crap, I can promise you we'll use MyFantasyLeague next season. And we aren't the only ones.

Thank you for your inquiry. As you've noted, we have overhauled our fantasy football layout for the 2012 season. Many of these enhancements were made based on user feedback we have received. We realize that these changes may take some getting used to, but we feel once you have settled in your fantasy experience will be greatly improved. As we rollout our new changes, we will continue to monitor all feedback provided to us. I will add your comments to our feedback document that will be reviewed at the end of the season.Thank you for continuing to make CBSSports.com your fantasy destination.Have a great season.
Nice form letter.

We left this year aft 11 years, nothing but form letters about renewing. Not one, hey we noticed you didn't sign back up, noting

I've been with CBS from the get-go really just out of laziness and people are just used to it but it's getting ridiculous now. Trying to find certain things is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Also, people love to post "top stories". For some reason they won't allow the titles of these headlines to be more than a few characters long. Why? And they've also skewed where you enter a picture. If you put a 4x3 image it stretches it to 16x9 or something like that. And they've made that whole area smaller. Just stupid.

A couple of guys were late with their keepers. Do you think I could still add them into the draft before the draft? Nope. I could add them to their rosters but had to skip their first few picks during the draft. Not a biggie but still, why can't you do this? Also, why can't the commish edit the draft while in progress if he makes a mistake setting up the draft? During my draft today I was supposed to get another team's pick. The commish forgot to set it up that way. Instead of the site allowing him to correct this during the draft he just had to have the wrong team pick my player and had to add him to my roster after the draft.

Also it would be nice if they didn't send out emails to everyone after a commish initially sets up the draft. Inevitably there will be some mistakes made, but instead of letting the commish check everything over before anyone gets to see it, it send out an email to everyone. "Hey! The draft has been set!". Of course come the emails..."Hey, I was supposed to get teams pick in round x and blah, blah, blah...."

Who the hell oversees this site? Since we pay so friggin' much it should be all about the league and not all these friggin' advertisements and crap. Also, this year, we went to blind bidding for free agents. People had questions about how it works. Doing some searching I found a link to a video on CBS with a tutorial. Great! I can just send this out to everyone. Of course it didn't work. Also, it won't allow you to have an auction on one day and set the rest of the days to be just add drop unless the commish changes the settings manually each week. Great.

I'm going to see how people feel in my league about switching to MFL next year.

I am in two leagues – one that uses CBS (15 season now) and one with MFL (9 seasons). There are pros and cons to both IMHO, and I actually still prefer CBS even though the changes do take some time getting used to. Heaven forbid that commish's and owners didn’t wait until the last bloody minute / draft day to go in and get familiar with the site…I’ll be the first to agree that the CBS “Tutorial” certainly leaves a lot to be desired, and considering the cost, surprised that they didn’t explain this better or add more self-help features… Ultimately, I just had go in and start clicking on everything until I figured it out. It actually isn’t all that bad once you get used to it, but perhaps that’s because our league rules in the CBS league are pretty basic. I agree with Raider Nation – send CBS messages to let them know what specific problems you are running into (even if you figured out the fix on your own), your thoughts on the new site layout, and anything else you want them to know – after all, you’re paying for their services, and changes will only come if enough speak up…PS: Raider Nation – Loved the canned response letter; hope you sent them a message on that too! :bag:

I wanted to ask a question to cbs because I couldn't find the pick 'em, that we've put money on (has it been removed?). I can't even submit the question, since I'm not the commissioner. Great service for $150. What I got when trying to submit my question:

Your question hasn't been submitted yet.

The following answers might help you immediately. (Answers open in a separate window.)

Why has CBS Sports.com redesigned the website?

What are auction drafts? And how do they work?

How do I setup a keeper policy in Fantasy Football?

Where do I find my Buddy Group’s standings?

If my league has a keeper deadline, will keepers be processed on the day selected or the next day?

Thank you for contacting us here at CBS Sports.com Support.

While we encourage Team Owners of Privately Managed Leagues to utilize our extensive Knowledgebase, communications from your league are limited to those from your League Commissioner. Any questions that you may have about your league's operation or setup should be addressed with your Commissioner directly.

Your Commissioner's email address can be found by going to your League's "Home Page", click on the Tab labeled "Teams", then click on "Teams and Owners".

Kindest Regards,

My feedback to cbssports:

I am very disappointed in the cbssports site and the value we are receiving for the $150 paid. I can't find the pick 'em for league games. Has it been removed? Why? To make room for more banner ads for new apps? Why can't I even ask the question to cbs without being a commissioner? I tried to submit a question about the pick 'em, but the site wouldn't let me. The new interface is terrible. I don't think it requires me to "get used to it." Why on earth would you move towards the setup of a free yahoo league?

Also, the formatting for league stories seems strange, and they are devoted less space. That is a feature we have enjoyed in the past, and it is worse now. I will be strongly urging our league to move from cbssports next year.

Sincerely,

Hawk Fan

I didn't even notice that Pick 'Em was gone - not a feature that I personally I used, but know many did. Evidently it's gone for good (or this season at least until more complain) - found this on a Yahoo search of the topic:"Well here's the official answer I got from submitting a question to CBSSports support: Response Via Email (Tim J) 09/01/2012 08:54 AM - Unfortunately, the pick em is no longer available. I apologize for this inconvenience.Have a great season."

We hung in with CBS for 14 years, mostly because of league history, we were all used to the setup, etc. This year, we decided it was time for a change, and to stop paying $150 or more. So glad we did after reading how the overhauled the site to make it even worse.

A leaguemate suggested NFL.com, and while I was skeptical at first since it is free, it is surprisingly decent. The draft room was actually great, and it allows for the customization we needed.

Anytime you switch sites it takes some time geting used to where to find things, etc. but I'm getting used to it. Very solid for a free option.

We will not be going back to CBS.

Unfortunately, I do not believe that the Pick 'Em game will be implemented this year. However, we have submitted suggestions on to the makers of the product for seasons to come for consideration.

The Pool Manager is another type of league in cbssports.com, where you can play the Pick 'Em game. You go to Fantasy, click on "Fantasy Football and make a Pool Manager pool.

Thank you for your patience

Thank you for your response. I would hope that "Pick 'Em" makes a comeback THIS season based on the comments and research I have come across...

Is the "Pool Manager" you refered to a tool in our league fantasy football website? Is there a link you can send me? I am still searching for this in the Commish Tools, but do not see this (yet)...

** Response Via Email (Aliesky)09/02/2012 05:52 PM

Unfortunately the Pick 'Em game have been removed from the football product with the upgrade of the product. We do not know if the game will make a comeback in seasons to come at this time. I apologize for the inconvenience.

You can setup a Pool Manager league for free in order to play the pick 'Em game.

Much of our success in becoming the #1 sports site on the web has been through suggestions, criticisms and other feedback from our most important department-our fans. I see that the "Pick 'Em" option is no longer a feature this year (i.e., no need to tell me that it's not available). WHY was this removed for 2012? There are many complaints in my league as well as countless others if you do a Google-search on the topic.

I am also curious as to why these changes were made without better tutorials or enhanced self-help features. Once again, a simple Google-search will show you that there is a lot of outrage that CBS should address immediately before the season starts in the next few days...

My league has been with CBS for a very long time and have seen many changes over the years, however feel that the latest updates were very poorly explained. Also the Pick 'Em feature was an enjoyable part of the experience for many - any feedback you can share about why it is no longer available might help me to convince others to stay with CBS (I'm sure you are aware of the migration threats to other hosting sites).

Thank you in advance for your personal response,

NOTE: Edited to make it a little easier to read...

Just got another form letter saying they would forward my concerns to the proper department. Let's see how that works out...

I'm all aboard the hate-train for the new layout and generally poor UX. But what exactly do you guys expect from CBS in reply to your emails? A knock on the door from their head of Product Development? A ride on a PJ to come in and help them design the next version?

You submitted your issues and suggestions and they acknowledged it. Move on to your next angry email

I know its been said (by me a number of times) but I was just comparing my yahoo league and my CBS league side by side tonight. The sheer ad volume on CBS dwarfs a supposedly free sites ad amount. CBS not only has more ads on the league home page but has the larger volume of page space taken for those ads. The subway banner ad takes up the whole background of the screen to the point of being obnoxious. Again, when you pay $150 you expect at worst minimal ads and at best no ads. We pay money to get the most ads per capita? Its a joke.

Yep. Most expensive fantasy host AND the most ads. Nice. But again, just right click anywhere on the Subway background and 'custom adblock' that sucker. It'll disappear.
