Anyone not like Eddie Lacy? (3 Viewers)

The fact is: Right now, GB is a hell of a lot better when they just spread it out and let 12 chuck it. This so called run game has Rodgers and co behind the sticks from the jump and stuck trying to convert 3rd and 7+ 65% of the time the last two weeks. Lacy, last year, was a really nice asset in the passing game. But right now, he sucks. Lot of blame to go around, defense is an absolute mess, offense is really shaky with new OC and worse OL play and Lacy hurt/fat/slow not helping matters. Not to mention, 12 is missing throws and reads too.... someone they're still 6-2 and tied for 1st in the division.

While I agree Lacy hasn't looked great ... I think this is more of a case of people pilling on and making a bad situation look worse then it is.

Despite being fat and injured Lacy is Avg 3.71 yds per carry ... Through the 1st 4 games of the season and prior to his injury he averaged 4.6 per carry

Starks who everyone is all of sudden raving about is avg 3.26 yds per carry in 7 out of 8 games ... Yes he has had 1 ridiculous good aberration of a game and has stunk worse then Big Foot the rest of the time.
I don't think anyone is raving about Starks. He is a middling talent and a backup RB. But he has been productive. Lacy has looked horrendous. That is a clear fact. Starks has played well in the passing game that is a clear fact.

If you're a Lacy owner who has Starks it really is time to insert Starks ahead of Lacy unless you have better options. And Lacy is on the bench till he proves at least in one.....just one game this season that he can be the bell cow he was the past 2 seasons for one of the better offenses in the game.

It's about points. Lacy is not scoring them every week. Starks has been when given the touches. I felt lucky last week when we got a TD out of him vs Denver.....this week he flat out collapsed and I think played himself out of the starters role for now.

Something is totally wrong with him this season, be it his weight, the high ankle sprain, fumbles.....he is simply not getting it done. I am not risking him in my lineup anymore. Not worth it. I see clearly that he is not the same player this year. I thought the high ankle sprain had a lot to do with it.....but it does not matter. He is not producing. I don't care why anymore. I am not selling (in dynasty) at this rock bottom level anyway.
I agree you can't play him ...

It doesn't look good, he 's played like crap and is the mirror image of Big Foot but I think given the same opportunity he'd be putting as good or better numbers than Starks.

Perfect example of hype

Starks has played well in the passing game that is a clear fact. (avg 8.8 yds per catch)

Eddie Lacy has been absolutely terrible in the passing game (avg 9.2 yds per catch) .... just getting a lot less opportunities
I really think this is where your thinking is wrong.

Just facts that Starks has played better. Not a ton better. That offense has not been what we have known. But Starks is looking like he is going to be more involved going forward.

Believe me, I want Lacy to be great. But he has been dreadful. Starks is not that much better save for 2 games too. Starks has had 2 great games. Lacy 2 decent games. Starks had games where he has scored 14.6, 24.7 and 24.2 Lacys 3 best were 17.90, 11.70 2 times.

It's ugly this year for Green Bay's running game. And the reason Lacy is not being given opportunities in the passing game??? Have you been watching him play? I mean have you really watched him play? I was giving him time and the benfit of the doubt due to his nasty ankle sprain, like most of his owners. But we have 4 more weeks of regular season games left in FF

Time is up.

Moving on, unless he shows he can be trusted again. There is a reason he is not getting the same opportunity. Because he is not playing good at all.
Lacy has a history of playing at a very high level when given a high work load.

Starks has a history playing at a high level as a change of pace and playing at a low level when asked to carry the load

Just look at this season alone and it will tell you everything you need to know about Starks

Week 2 - Lacy goes down - Starks (on everyone's benches) catches the world off guard has a good week

Week 3 - Everyone jumps on the bandwagon, plugs him into their lineups ... Greenbay leans on him and he bombs 17 carries for 1.88 per

Week 4 - Carries fade - enthusiasm fades

Week 5 - Carries fade more - enthusiasm fades more

Week 6 - Back on everyone's benches ... he goes off 11 yards per carry and a TD

Week 7 - Back in everyone's lineup ... and he bombs 5 carries for 1.80 per

Week 8 - Back to the bench ... 80 yards receiving and a TD

His big production is always flukey and unexpected ...typical change of pace guy that cant handle the workload

Rotoworld:

Eddie Lacy - RB - Packers

Packers OC Edgar Bennett admitted "we definitely need" to get Eddie Lacy "going."

We know, we know, the Packers have been saying this for a couple weeks now, and yet no dice. Perhaps the biggest first-round fantasy bust, we're not sure it's going to happen for Lacy. He looks well overweight and extremely sluggish coming off multiple nagging injuries. Lacy suffered a groin injury Week 9 against the Panthers, but was able to go through a full workout Monday. He should be fine for Week 10 against the Lions. If it doesn't happen against Detroit, it may not happen at all for the third-year back. James Starks may be moving ahead of Lacy for good.

I don't watch a ton of GB games, but they are on National TV enough. Why does everyone say Starks is replacement level talent and JAG? Every time I see him, he's usually ripping off huge chunk plays on the ground and in the air. He was a key cog to the Packers SB run and title. What am I missing here?

If you want to read some fun FF stuff, go back two or three pages on this one . . . to early October.

The excuses are everywhere, it's fascinating.

1. Eddie is just now getting into shape.

2. Lacy is fine, must be working through an injury.

3. Packers are saving him for the second half.

4. After the bye he will be fine.

5. When the weather gets cold, look out!

6. I would trade for him, great buy low.

This is like last call, when nobody wants to admit it's over.

Bottom line is if he doesn't stop eating - and starts giving a #### - he's toast.
Before you shovel dirt on a grave and call it "over", understand that Eddie Lacy isn't the only player in NFL history to have a rough patch, especially when injury was part of the equation. I'm pretty sure it was over for Tom Brady about three years ago, Reggie Wayne was written off 5 years before he did slow down, everyone and their brother said Chris Ivory would never stay healthy more than 2-3 games at a time, Mark Ingram was an absolute after thought...until he wasn't, I personally wrote an incredibly long post here making a case for people to stop selling Dez Bryant and to go get him. We see how that worked out.

The list is enormous but the point is Eddie Lacy has already done a lot more than most players that most people want to say its over on. Watching the Packers it is obvious that the entire team is off. Yes, it's looking like a lost year or very close to it but to say it's over is crazy. And the way this season has went, we might be here 5 weeks now saying "Thank you Eddie Lacy! You turned it on just when I needed you."
Holy cow was that a horrible post. Not even going to start with it.

So FTR, I am talking about redraft. Don't play dynasty (where you better hope he gets on the horn with Jenny Craig, and quick).
I didn't notice who posted the comment I replied to until I completed it a posted.

I almost deleted it because it was you.
Say what you want, your blathering was awful, no two ways about it.

im starting lacy, have no choice with woodhead my #1 stud rb out this week, lewis hurt and foster gone... it's him and jhill woo hoo

Sasquatch got me -2 pts and i lost by 1 ... It's all his fault but I know he'll make it up to me this week with half my team on a bye.

I can't quit him !

As a Packers fan I wish they would just sit Lacy for a few weeks and hope that helps. I don't even like Starks but Lacy clearly isn't right and playing him isn't helping the team at all.

As an Eddie Fatty owner, I am extremely disapointed. He no longer passes the eye test. He seems to be going down the Trent Dickardson road.

I am afraid, and I need to trade him, but his value is sinking like a stone.

Green Bay Packers
@packersMcCarthy: I would say James (Starks) is our No. 1 back right now going into Detroit. He's earned that opportunity. We'll stay w/ 1-2 punch.

and BOOM goes the dynamite!!!
If he was hurt, they should have said it and addressed it. Seems like a poor move to me. Lots of guys look awesome when they are the #2, better rested, teams not planning for them as much, etc.

Within three weeks, the older starks will be as pedestrian as he ever was. He's had multiple opportunities on this team to seize a meaningful job but never has. It's hard for me to imagine it will now at this age.

Do you give the Browns credit for trading Trent while the starter or the Pack credit for just doing the honest thing and benching Lacy now? Both I guess.

In this offense Lacy still has a shot of showing up in the box score.

I don't like him

Packers | James Starks given the reins Wed Nov 11, 11:54 AM

Green Bay Packers RB James Starks was named the lead running back over RB Eddie Lacy (groin), according to head coach Mike McCarthy. 'I would say James Starks is our No. 1 back right now,' McCarthy said.

who knows what is going on behind the scenes? Also, we've seen multiple examples of guys that were done, never had the chance get into a situation and be productive..Forsett, McFadden, Lewis....I'm not projecting/predicting Starks to be some kind of stud but he has played better for whatever reason and I'm fine with that and we'll see where it goes.

I don't like him.

In fact, I made this trade early in the season (which at the time looked like a stretch for me, but now looks like I made out)...

Gave up Luck and Lacy

FOR Big Ben and Matt Jones

I would caution on those trying to buy low. This year is different. It's more than just a sore ankle. Lacy does not appear to be in good shape. He is very slow off the handoff. He has been plowing straight into his O line. Get rid of him now while you can! He will end up being second fiddle to Starks the rest of the year.
Tried to warn guys. You have to forget the name recognition and trust what you see on the field. This was very obvious to anyone paying close attention.

The Bus is the only RB that could be great at 260+. Slim down big fella, your still really young.
The Bus is one of the all time most overrated backs. 3.9ypc isn't great. I don't see why he got into the HOF.....he must have lots of media friends.
Not to derail the thread but there are other RBs in the HoF with an even lower ypc. Sometimes you need to look beyond a single stat when you are evaluating a football player.

New Lacy owner this week and know he will see ball more as weather gets colder
As well as the buffet line. This guy's shelf-life will not be long.
I thought we put that theory to rest some time ago. I am a dynasty owner and not concerned at all. Why would Lacy have a shorter shelf life than any other RB?
He's getting fat. This isn't the offensive line.
It's been over a month, are you still "not concerned at all", Zdravko?

Here are the rushing stats of each from 5 of the last 6 GB games that shows exactly how badly Starks has out played Lacy
