Anyone not like Eddie Lacy? (4 Viewers)

he played well today--but again--today just proved that our expectations have been lowered. A juicy matchup against a defense that has been weak as of late. His team is moving the ball like crazy and his qb is totally on point-his team scores 38pts-and what does he end up with--63 yards and a td. An elite RB1 in that perfect storm of events would normally have far bigger numbers. However--those numbers are indicative of a high upside rb2 taking into account todays perfect storm.
Expectations have been lowered, but this wasn't the perfect storm, it was a blowout where he only had 4 touches in the 2nd half (none in the 4th qtr). The perfect storm would have been more like a 38-31 game.
Now I know who drafts crappy Alabama RBs.
You're not even good at trolling. Shoo, fly.

I don't troll. That's the sad part. You're the one hopping threads pumping up bad Bama RBs.

A sell high opportunity may be coming up for Lacy. Carolina is ranked 31st against the run. Lacy's one big game was against Minnesota, who is 30th against the run. If Lacy can get the same amount of carries (he had just 13 in the Minnesota game), he could very well have a similar performance, and it would probably create the best opportunity in the near future to get rid of Lacy and actually get a little something in return.
Thing is if I'm the offeree I'm thinking that was the game I wanted him for.

Soo.....

Who's trading, who's holding?
I don't see any reason to consider trading him. He is just a few points outside of being a top 10 RB right now and his production seems to be improving with each passing week.

In a year where the position is a minefield outside of 3-4 studs, he is as good a RB as there is in terms of taking a guess on which RB might be a candidate for a big game on any given week.

Might want to check the Richardson thread, Inspector Gadget.

Well, plausible deniability would be key. Go-Go-Gadget arms.

12 carries in a blowout win. There were 30 rushes split between several players and he got just over a third of them. When you see Murray get 25+ touches every single week, well i'm not comparing them talent-wise but Lacy could be doing so much better with another 6-8 touches a week. Odd that they feel they HAVE to involve Starks and Kuhn, it's almost like they want Lacy to never get going or get any momentum.

For fantasy purposes it sucks, but they seem pretty intent on not grinding him down with 300 carries. In Nov/Dec they will only have 2 games not in cold weather.

or they don't want him to run down come the real NFL playoffs?

Not advocating running him down at all, just don't think another half dozen touches per week is unreasonable. Lacy has 80 carries to Murray's 159. If you include catches it's 90 touches v 180 touches. There's a balance in there somewhere surely.

Green Bay Packers: A few running backs have yet to allow a pressure this year, but none have stayed in to block as much as Eddie Lacy. On 36 pass blocks, Lacy has a perfect Pass Blocking Efficiency of 100% with zero pressures allowed.

That's fantastic. No reason to take him out! Now if he can just keep out-touching Starks....

I think it's because Starks brings a different element to his running. That 13 yard TD scamper didn't discourage the coaching staff that's for sure.

That is actually really good and will bode well for playing when if the Packers are down points and it should for allow for more dump offs.

I'm not a big fan of his but I just traded for him. I needed the depth in my league so I forked over shady romo for luck, lacy, Michael floyd. The upgrade to kick was nice and floyd will fill my flex spot. Just puts me rbs in a tough spot with lacy, tate, martin. A good positive for the guy is his remaining schedule is decent and has a chance for more carries the colder it gets

As a packers fan I am not rooting against Starks. But Lacy is likely to see more snaps.

The beat writers have been pounding all week that they expect the Packers to run the ball early, often, and well against the Saints. It's necessary to A) Keep Brees off the field and B) Take the crowd out of it. The Saints are not particularly good against the run, either.

I would not be surprised at all to see Lacy with 25+ touches and 120+ total yards, with a decent chance at a score.

Why do you point to Murray and then Lacy and think there needs to be a middle ground for the Packers in there? Its like saying I eat 2000 calories a day but you point out someone else is eating 5000 calories a day and I should thus start eating more calories possibly meeting in the middle around 3500...

The Packers on their 1 Super Bowl run in the past 10 years had a very healthy and fresh Starks who was a big part of getting them to that Super Bowl. They want Lacy (and all their RBs) to be healthy and fresh going into the playoffs, they also have a lot of snowy/cold days coming where the Packers will need to pound out some wins late in the season likely. For fantasy its not always the best but for the Packers running with 2 RBs on a standard basis allows them to be more lethal as the season wears on.

I personally think Lacy's role is only going to increase so your at his floor right now and if Starks is out any extended time this season your looking at Lacy likely picking up 1/2 those carries and the other 1/2 given to Kuhn and down the RB depth chart.

I can't disagree with your point from an NFL team perspective. Murray was an extreme comparison, he is far and away the most heavily used back this year (I think the next is Foster who is an amazing 60 carries South of him, nearly 9 carries per week less, crazy) and it's hard to imagine him holding up the whole season.

Just looking around the league and Lacy is so carefully utilized almost like they're afraid he may break apart. Perhaps the week one concussion is also in their thoughts. I suppose when you're putting up the points Green Bay are, why change it. From a fantasy POV, just frustrating to see a supposed feature back receive 12 carries from 30 available in an easy win. Hoping the game plan might include him more as the season goes on like you said. Wear and tear certainly shouldn't be a concern this year.

I think that's an awesome deal for you. In my opinion--both Romo and Lesean are "buy low guys"--as Romo has a very favorable schedule ROS--and Leseans value is probably at a bottom or pretty close to it--but you managed to sell high. Luck is frankly a better qb than Romo--so in essence you traded Lesean for Michael Floyd, Lacy and the difference in value between Luck and Romo---which is amazing. I really like Lacy as a buy low--and I think you got a great deal here.

Starks is probable now but even if he was out this week or any week I think DuJuan Harris would just step in and maybe even do better than Starks.

Lacy has a good closing schedule, weeks 14 & 16 are ATL & TB with BUF in between, thing is their passing game could explode and Lacy won't be needed in the red zone and they rest him after a 12/50/0 day. This could happen in any game.

Lacy has always had that in his game. He's a top 10 back ROS IMO-- another quiet thread with all the haters gone! 10+ 4 of the last 5 weeks.

I will just point out one thing, the Saints' Keenan Lewis has been one of the few true shadow corners in the league this year. While the Saints' defense has indeed gone to pot he has managed to put up a good year and minimize the impact of No. 1 WRs. The Packers largely stayed away from Nelson and I think that's where the Lacy targets came from, that and the Packers actually being in a track meet for a change. We also saw 13/59/0 rushing. Of course if this is a new feature, then yeah Lacy looks a lot like Leveon Bell all of a sudden.

I'm not a fan, shoot me. He's a truck and looks good as long as there are large rushing lanes or poor tackling (like last night). Against decent teams where he can't get a head of steam, he's below average imo. His jukes look like they're in slow motion and he doesn't have the speed to hit a closing hole. Think he'd be very average without Rodgers keeping defenses honest. JMO.

He looked great last night. He showed nice power, but also looked nimble at times. He was well utilized in the passing game. There were a couple times when the camera focused on him where I did think he looked a bit bulky/pudgy--but he played great yesterday. He definitely upgraded his status from being a high upside rb2 to a mid-low end rb1 in my opinion last night. I do think there were a few things that were in his favor last night---The Packers were playing from behind for much of the second half last night--and especially so after Rodgers tweaked his hamstring. The Packers revolve around Rodgers--and when Rodgers is unavailable or not at full strength--things become brighter for Lacy. Look at Lacy's rookie season--much of his production occurred while Rodgers was out. Watching last nights game--what became clear to me is that Rodgers did not have the escapability or allusiveness to extend plays that can generally help guys like Jordy Nelson break out and break free for a big game. For the most part--Rodgers lack of mobility seemed to make him dink and dunk his way down the field in the second half--which was great for Lacy. In my opinion--last nights game was fantastic for Lacy owners regardless of how they feel about him. If you are a Lacy owner and have no intention of moving him--last night showed you how versatile he is--and he showed you that he does have RB1 upside--so congrats. If you are a Lacy owner--but don't fully believe in his ability to be solid and consistent RB1--you now have a prime opportunity to move him--because he looked great in a nationally televised Sunday night game--so congrats. There is zero doubt that last night was a positive night for all Lacy owners.

Was he "very average" last year with Matt Flynn & Scott Tolzein keeping defenses honest?
Kind of, yeah. He averaged 3.8X ypc from week 10 on. He was the beneficiary of a heavy workload and a lot of goalline opportunities. He also looked more spry to me last season. I don't know if he's put weight on or just wear and tear but he looks sluggish through the line to me. I understand im probably in the minority.

I think his bulky body makes him look sluggish. I think Lynch looks sluggish sometimes, but he bulldozes people over and keeps going. The Panthers Tolbert looks that way as well.

I find that everybody's perception of these players is tied directly to production, which correlates pretty strongly to opportunity.

so, when ingram is getting 6 carries he sux, but when he gets 20 touches he's running angry.

lacy didn't look sluggish last year because they were leaning on him with rodgers out.

he got his weekly 13 carries again  , did most of his receiving damage on that 67 yd screen early in the game where he definitely didn't look sluggish, and got the benefit of 5 dump offs on rodgers' last drive where green bay was buried and new orleans took the receivers away in prevent --- so, there was his opportunity.

unfortunately, he failed to score on his 2 carries inside the 10, while they threw another 4x from in there -- one of those targets being julius peppers.

julius peppers stole a scoring opp from the 3.

rodgers ran one in himself, as I mentioned he might be doing many pages ago, and they scored another td from 70 yds out.

so, the guy ends up with 21 touches and you get some production --- if you could get 21 touches every week he'd probably be looking like a raging bull instead of sluggish and pudgy, or whatever.

The problem is, that packers are not going to start giving lacy 10 targets a game at jordy expense. While I like lacy I all believe he is in the high end rb2 with rb1 upside on any given week and that's enough to roll him out there every week. I'm personally hoping to sell him high to a packer fan in my league who has been trying to shop murray around.

Lynch's lateral agility has always impressed me. He looks extremely light on his feet IMO but he's also ~15lbs. lighter than Lacy. As a Seahawk I've never thought "plodder" when watching Lynch run; I have thought that while watching Lacy.

he played well today--but again--today just proved that our expectations have been lowered. A juicy matchup against a defense that has been weak as of late. An elite RB1 in that perfect storm of events would normally have far bigger numbers. However--those numbers are indicative of a high upside rb2 taking into account todays perfect storm.

Might want to check the Richardson thread, Inspector Gadget.
Well, plausible deniability would be key. Go-Go-Gadget arms.
The two RBs you were bashing last week combined for over 50 fantasy points (PPR)- who do you hate this week?

(fill in the blank)

Gotcha! Hey, I'd never draft him, Rogers, or anyone on that team, so I wouldn't know. I wash my hands of GB players as soon as I touch them.

Have fun.

humpack, Hoolvio (whatever) and the screechers can buzz off. They know what it is. If I had your capitalization, I'd own you. Just so you know.
