You tell us... who/what could you get in return that would be more reliable than he has been thus far in his first 2 years in the league.Perhaps this is a better exercise: what would you be willing to trade for Lacy? Thats more the point of the argument anyway, and I'm pretty intrigued. I would contend I can build a more complete roster with the spoils, but perhaps the market isn't what I think.
This is the meat and potatoes of the soup for me. Last year (maybe in this thread), my point of view on this topic is that his talent+situation gives him the rare floor of a 1000/10 type of guy every year. Most people will take that (maybe not as a top 5 RB, but people aren't crying over it).No one gets that kind of workload anymore. Murray is an outlier at 392 carries, followed by Shady at 312. Those were the only 2 RBs with 300+ carries last year. Lacy ranked 9th overall with 246 carries. Others that had more than him were Bell (290), Lynch (280), Forte (266), Morris (265), Foster (260) and Gore (255). Lacy finished under all the RB's listed except for Morris, Gore and Shady, whom he outscored by 65-100 ffps. Now you tell me, is Lacy's workload closer to the busts/guys who didn't do it more than 3 years, or the studs who were elite RB1 for long periods of time? His small workload puts a huge cap on his ceiling. Impossible to compare a guy like Lacy to most of this list, comprised of 300 carry studs.ZWK said:Here's the list of every RB who did this at least twice in their first 3 seasons:To emphasize that note, here is the list of every RB drafted in the last 20 years who has had at least one season of 900 rushing yards, 8 rushing touchdowns, and 30 receptions:
Curtis Martin (342 carries per year in first 2 years at given baseline)
Terrell Davis (357)
Fred Taylor (278)
Edgerrin James (378)
LaDainian Tomlinson (355.5)
Shaun Alexander (302)
Deuce McAllister (338)
Clinton Portis (281.5)
Domanick Williams (270)
Steven Jackson (300)
Chris Johnson (304.5)
Arian Foster (302.5)
Eddie Lacy (265)
Interesting that Domanick Williams is only one bust on this list of 13 RBs (assuming that you bought them immediately after their second 900yd/8td/30rec season).
The fact is that in order to be a top shelf fantasy RB these days you need to either get a ton of carries, see: Murray, Bell, Lynch and/or you need to be heavily involved in your team's passing game, see: Forte, Foster, Lacy, Charles or both. Its not coincidence that the top guys last year met both criteria (Bell, Lynch, Murray).
Lacy getting 250ish carries and 40+ receptions should continue. He should be a top RB based on that workload. TD's fluctuate and can make a typically top 5-6 RB the #1 overall. He is one of the few RB's in the league that you can reasonably expect to get 10-12 TD's each year with a high scoring offense that "could" give him more opportunities.
I own Lacy in one league, no one is interested in buying him at a price that makes it worthwhile to sell. Certainly not for anything approaching Hill + Brown. EVERYONE builds around elite WR's now, the Julio, DT, ODB, Dez, etc owners are not interested in selling for ANY RB. At best maybe I could get something like an early rookie pick plus a mid tier piece.
Same story in the league I own Bell.
Probably bc WR have longer sustainable value. Its "the trend" bc it makes sense. Tho in my league I have been able to get what I thought was a pretty penny for my RBs. Pretty much just been flipping backs for a young stud I like (last year Lev Bell, this year Hill) and picks. Perhaps thats not how your leagues do business? That would explain the difference in valuation.I own Lacy in one league, no one is interested in buying him at a price that makes it worthwhile to sell. looks like I drafted a beer-bellied Mike Alstott with dreads in the 1st this yr
Asiata has replaced him in my lineup is that tells you anything about him.
Yes somewhere (not too far since i'm not greedy) North of 60 plus a td would be fine. As you say, they'll no doubt work Starks in and if he happens to nab a td or they roll out Kuhn at the goalline, it's going to be a tough, though not unexpected, pill to swallow. Plus it is somewhat logical too give the coach comments this week.
This feels so reminiscent of TRich last year. Then I kept thinking "well, maybe next week. He'll have more time with the playbook. Fresh off the bye" etc etc until I couldn't take it any more. Maybe he'll be more reliable once the cold weather comes around. Just grasping at straws and trying not to get too aggravated about it.
Yeah, about right at the rate he's going. Hopefully he stumbles over the goal-line, but that's Kuhn's job.
(I sure hope I don't become that TRich owner guy from 2013...).
Long season. Things change. Thinking we may need to realize there is a change occurring again (as much as I hate to say it). .
I get the sense that the Packers are starting to sniff their playoff position and might scale Lacy back a bit until the playoffs.
I am sitting him this week.
I honestly can't see starting either of them. I've got decent backup options in Ingram and Evans so its an easier decision for me. Push comes to shove I'd wait till the last minute and if reports are that Lacy looks ok then I guess I'd start him. Truth be told, I wasn't really excited about his chances this week BEFORE the injury BS came up.
Starks' homecoming game FWIW.
I'm very strongly considering benching Lacy for Crowell in a .5 PPR league.
I think best case scenario is Starks getting a little more work than usual and a nearly 50/50 split, which will mean Lacy's going to have a tough time being relevant this week unless he catches a lot of dumpoffs or scores a TD. I don't see much chance of Lacy being a workhorse today. Worst case scenario is the Pack getting up big and riding Starks a little more to give Lacy's hip a break.
Maybe Crowell only gets 50% of the carries for Cleveland, but I like his chance to run well and score more than Lacy's, and I see there being less risk too.
Hated to do it but just put Crow in at RB and Gordon in at Flex over Lacey. After my Tre Mason debacle on Thurs nite I can't afford to take a low score if Lacey re-tweaks his hip, gets pulled, is underutilized, or just gets stopped by a very good BUF D. Just too iffy this game. He's been so good the past 10 weeks - hated to do it.
now he's on a list of all time greatsStarting Evans and Ingram in lieu of Lacy and one of those guys. Can't risk a 5 carry no score game in the playoffs. If he blows up so be it-no indication that that will happen. Gotta play the odds.
lacy was 7th ppg if you started him every week, which many in here didn't
subtract the couple weeks you lost faith and were afraid to start him and get back to me
and I'll add to this the fortunate disappearance of mccoy and peterson from the top 10, which not a single lacy owner in this thread anticipated.Lacy owners started him every week he was active troll
Assuming we are talking PPR, you don't need to find another RB that can get you 10-12 TDs. Forget about Lacy in your example. Even as good as Lacy is, the best choice is having both Brown and Dez. The scariest dynasty teams imo are the ones that stockpile the elite WRs (no matter they have at RB) because you know they'll be contending for the title every year for quite a while. This is the meat and potatoes of the soup for me. The Real enticement in this is in thinking just how highly likely it is that Lacy is the type of back in the type of situation where he could EASILY land in one of those season opportunities where he ends up with 14-16 total TDS. In today's RB environment, that is the type of advantage you only get by having Gronk or Graham (a consistent back who gets 30+ receptions, high digit TDs, and a minimum of 1000 yards).
At his age, I don't know why people would want to sell him because even if you traded him for Antonio Brown, who has been nothing short of AMAZING for two years in ff, if you do that, what is harder: owning lacy and getting the "next best guys" like Dez or Demaryius or owning Brown and trying to find a guy that can give you what a 24 year old Lacy can? Who would those guys even be? Because of age, you can rule out the Charles, Fosters, Petersons. At his age, is your substitute going to be Gio, Hyde, Michael, Hill, Cj Anderson,? if you went back two years ago, you may have said Trent Richardson or Monte Ball or Doug Martin. You'd be dead wrong.
At his age, Jeremy Hill MIGHT be the only RB in the league right now that you can make an argument that you do this IF you get Antonio Brown AND Hill for Lacy. Otherwise, you already have THE piece.

There is still some time before the season starts. Once AP is moved I'm sure he'll jump up a bit, and if he's in Dallas he probably goes over Lacy. I'll be interested to see what fantasy players are doing this year at RB. I'd expect a bunch of those guys going in the 3rd round to jump up + rookies, could be a RB heavy year. I'll be WR heavy most likely, and I'll take a big look at Gronk in the top 3 with Graham out of New Orleans. I would say I probably won't take Lacy there, but plenty of other people will.is lacy a top 3 pick in redraft?

Eddie Lacy ... lumberjack?
The Packers RB participated in the Paul Bunyan Northwood's Lumberjack Show this summer, where he dominated the ax throw. The tree climb? Not so much. Watch
Argh! I always fall for this. I always read this in my head really fast and with no pauses, even though I COULD stop at any time and by the end of it I exhale out a long breath.do you brohans know who does not like eddie lacy defensive players when he is crushing them like bubble wrap as he runs over them for one hundred and two yard touchdowns involving fake plays where an o lineman picks up and throws a small guy brought in at the fullback position like a missle to open a hole on the left side of the line but where eddie beast mode from down under lacy sneakily moves right and runs up the sideline while everyone is watching the little guy get tossed about like so much a ragdoll that is who does not like eddie lacy but i suspect you all already knew that take that to the bank brohans
Wow. Has this happened before? I notice all the "likes" so it can't be the first time. SWC has been here since '05 so he has history. That was exhilerating to read! Thanks for that. I could visualize every detail in my mind like instant replay!Shutout said:Argh! I always fall for this. Forte? So you would potentially pass on Bell, Lacy, AP and Charles .... For Forte?I'm set on taking Forte in one league over Leveon Bell. Between his weed violation, 2 game suspension, traffic ticket, unpaid parking tickets, hurt knee, DeAngelo Williams, and the Steelers throwing more I dont like him AS much.

Sense that does not make
The context of this threads origin derives from the fact that most people thought Lacy was the best RB of the 2013 draft class. The title of this thread is really weird.
Too early in the week but X-rays came back negative.any word on the injury?
Heard this morning they were saying no high ankle sprainAnkle not broken but if he couldn't put weight on it my assumption is that it's at least a high anke sprain. How long do those take to heal? At least a month right?
ok so what's wrong with him... Hes a wuss anyway. Looks fat as Heck to sitting there with the beer gut. my season looks over as I was counting on Fat Eddie and Jeremy Hill... YIKES.. Goodnight allNow this is the guy that used to be the team doctor for the Chargers and is no longer, for whatever reasons, but this is an interesting twitter feed and observation for sure.David J. Good news on EDDIE LACY @packers X-rays negative Low ankle sprain by video Hoping for 1-3 wks depending on swelling
http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/monday-morning-md-quarterbacks-and-clavicles/Fortunately by video, Lacy has a more traditional low ankle sprain, as opposed the feared high ankle variety. With X-rays confirmed to be negative, the key here is to await swelling overnight to reassess. My anticipation is for a relatively short 1-3 week timeline give the low ankle sprain.
imagine how good he would be if they had labron bromigoProbably a bad traditional sprain. 2-3 weeks.
Just speculating. It is what it is.
Gotta love the effing FB dives at the goalline that take TDs away from our studs.Eddie Lacy rushed 18 times for 90 yards in Green Bay's Week 4 win over the 49ers.
He added a three-yard reception. Lacy appeared fully over his ankle issue, showing quick feet and precise cuts. He dragged tacklers as the Packers played out the string of a boring second half. Rounding into form after a quiet(ish) start, Lacy is on track for 920 yards and four touchdowns. Both paces should increase significantly in the coming weeks. Lacy gets the Rams' hot-and-cold run defense in Week 5. Oct 4 - 7:49 PM
