The game last night held very little interest for most, so I was watching everyone's favorite whipping boy of ineptitude, Kyle Boller. That kid looked great for the second week in a row. I thinks that they keep him and let him at it next year.Way To Go Kyle!!! :banned:

AS his harshest critic, I am pleased to stop by and say that in the last 2 weeks, he's looked like a good quarterback. Not merely "adequate", but GOOD. The biggest thing - and he says it himself - is being able to calm down and maintain some poise. He clearly has the ability to be a solid NFL starter - he just needs to remain in control, which he has done the last 2 games.Colin

True. If he manages to put up another good game in week 17, Boller will head into 2006 as a trendy sleeper pick at QB. The biggest question, IMO, is whether the Baltimore front office has seen enough to keep him as the starter.

I agree. It seem like the game has slowed down for Boller and he is finally adapting as a NFL QB. Now when will Mike Vick start picking up the NFL game?

He struggled as a rookie and his supporting cast was terrible last year. Heap was injured most of the year and he had no decent WRs to throw to. My God, Brett Favre has been terrible and all of his supporters point to his lack of weapons, so it boggles my mind how anyone could've expected Boller to do much of anything with the team he had around him. This year, they added Mason and Clayton and Heap has stayed healthy. It's no coincidence that he's finally getting comfortable enough to be a solid NFL QB.

I was able to watch both games in their entirety and I must say I was extremely impressed by Boller's play. This wasn't a case of Boller throwing the ball up for grabs, or receivers making incredible catches. Boller was making smart decisions and rifling the ball to his receivers often in stride. He mad an absolutely perfect throw to Mark Clayton that would have been a 45 + yard td in the 2nd half if the defender didn't grab Clayton. His arm strength really helped him get out of trouble several times, as he was able to fire the ball off his right foot into the flat despite heavy pressure. (Chester Taylor caught one, Clayton the other). If I were the Ravens I would definitely sign an experienced backup like Kitna. But I would definitely have Boller be the starting qb going into Week 1.

He's been my leading fantasy scorer each of the last 2 weeks as I have plugged him in as my 2nd starting QB for each of the last 6 weeks after McNabb went down and I put him in with McNair, almost got me quite the comeback with Mason last night, came up 4 points short though, needed 67 points from those two and got 63, playing in the 3rd place game now, which sucks

I've been a huge Boller Basher. Didn't see his game last week but saw the one last night and was shocked to witness him looking like an NFL starting QB.Another thing that gets lost in this is just how *young* Boller is. IIRC he came into the league at 20, maybe 21.And while he has looked not terrible, bear in mind that people are getting excited about "career" games of 250 2-3 TDs. Not exactly HOF material. But a def. step in the right direciton.

I, too, am not a Boller fan. I hate his release, but I have to admit he is performing admirably the last couple of weeks. Let's hope there's at least one Jeff Tedford QB that is more than a "game manager".

Boller did play well Sunday night and his stats look good for past two games, but let's remember who they played, Green Bay and Minnesota. Not what anyone would call top flite defenses.

Boller has done this the past two years.Stinks it up at the beginning of the year when it matters. As soon as the pressure is off and the games don't matter he lights it up and gives The Ravens coaching staff hopes for the next season...Only to have him look like a rookie again and talk begins again that he sucks and the coaching staff will be fired.

I'm going to have to be sold alot more if I'm thinking about taking Boller next season. I have not seen the Ravens play much this year, but his situation would have to improve. WRs? Still need em. Coaching? Sorry, I don't know how Fassel and Billick got these "offensive guru" tags, but I haven't seen evidence of it.Admittedly, I don't know alot about the Baltimore situation, but I need more proof before I buy into Boller as a fantasy QB.

Those defenses are not terrible...but that's another thread. The biggest thing is he played at HOME in those two games. His career record at home is something like 13-4, so in order to show that he has turned the corner, he must do it on the road as well. But he fianlly has some weapons at his disposal, and Clayton looks like the real deal.

Boller makes my skin crawl throwing the ball because it continues to sail, even during the last couple of games. He certainly looks more comfortable, but until he starts delivering the ball more accurately, he's going to get WR's killed, limit their RAC yardage, and be vulnerable to INT's (which will in turn make his playing time vulnerable).

He's a lot like Patrick Ramsey in this regard. Even on Ramsey's long TD throw to Moss versus the Giants this past Saturday, the throw was high and behind Moss, requiring Moss to make a great move on the ball to catch it, which he fortunately did. Patrick got a good stat line (and he did look good overall in the game) but there was a fine line between a long TD and an incompletion or worse on that play.

See weeks 9 - 11.

On the long td, if the safety is in correct position Clayton is being scraped off the turf. He has looked better, but not good.

FYI, Green Bay has the #1 ranked pass defense in the NFL.

What do folks think Boller will do in week 17 against Cleveland? He's looked damn good against better defenses the past two weeks, perhaps he is a very slick play for those needy at QB in a championship game...

Kyle Boller = Pac 10

Which means he's a champion.
Tell us about Joey Harrington, Cade McNown, and Ryan Leaf
:goodposting: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
John Elway, Troy Aikman :own3d:
Owned? Please.... Aikman couldn't hack the Big 12 so looked for green pastures.

Add to the list

Akili Smith
The Pac-10 has the most starting QBs in the NFL...RECOGNIZE.LOL at the Big-12...now that Nebraska can't cheat on the # of scholarships, that conference has been revealed for the tub of mediocrity that it is. Looking forward to another miserable showing by the Big12 in this year's bowls as they get stomped by Oregon and USC...pathetic.

LOL at the Big-12.....So what one BIG 12 team did 15 years ago, when Aikman was there, matters today? Thank you for the info mr. tangent, but its not relevant in this discussion.

The Pac-10 has the most starting QBs in the NFL...RECOGNIZE.

Which should mean more opportunities to win championships, right? Could you please tell me when the last time a PAC-10 QB won a Conference Championship, let alone a a Super Bowl one?

Well, I'm glad you admit you don't know the Baltimore situation before you reach your conclusions. As for "needing" WRs, let me introduce you to Derrick Mason and Mark Clayton. When you add in Todd Heap, Boller has targets to throw to.

The O-Line, on the other hand, is a huge question mark - at least on the right side.

Yup, he was the youngest QB to start a game in the league last year. He's younger than Eli Manning (not by much IIRC). It's been more than two games - he was QB6 over the past three games heading into this past weekend. Now he's QB4 over the last three games.

He's put together a good four-game stretch. I still don't trust him long-term, but I think he's worth taking a chance on. I traded a 4th round rookie pick for him in a dynasty a few weeks back and think that's a good gamble. I don't think I'd trade a 2nd round pick for him, though.

Here we go:1999 - John Elway (Stanford) - Won Super Bowl

1999 - Chris Chandler (UW) - Lost Super Bowl

1998 - John Elway (Stanford) - Won Super Bowl

1997 - Drew Bledsoe (WSU) - Lost Super Bowl

1996 - Troy Aikman (UCLA) - Won Super Bowl

1994 - Troy Aikman (UCLA) - Won Super Bowl

1993 - Troy Aikman (UCLA ) - Won Super Bowl

1992 - Mark Rypien (WSU) - Won Super Bowl

Need I go on?

No need to go on - you only had to list 1999. That's the last time it happened.

Call me weird, but 5 years for the conference that claims the most starting QBs in the NFL sure seems to be a long time without a champion

They sure did, IF you are only talking about passing yards allowed (like the nfl.com ranks passing defenses). If you look a little closer, they allowed 21 passing TDs (24th in the league), they only grabbed 9 INTs (tied for 29th), and recorded 31 sacks (tied for 20th)Green Bay led the league in passing yards allowed (2533 yds) in part because teams seldom threw on them ( only 405 attempts against them). The reason for this was because teams had great success running all over Green Bay (they had the 26th ranked rushing defense).

In the last 5 years Brady has 3 titles (Big Ten)Collins played against the Ravens in a loss. (Big Ten)Big Ten owns Pac Ten

Now why go and be reasonable with these bozos braying at each other for so much entertainment value?

Not necessarily......with all the Free Agency in the NFL nowadays teams can go from good to bad and vice versa quickly. It doesn't always depend solely on the QB play. It's what makes the NE run even more impressive in this day and age imho. On a side note, of the list below 4 out of the 6 Pac-10 QB's are either in or vying for a playoff spot with two potential Super Bowl contenders (Palmer & Plummer):

Mark Brunell (UW)

Bledsoe (WSU)

Joey Harrington (Oregon)

Carson Palmer (USC)

Kyle Boller (Cal)

Jake Plummer (ASU)
