Anyone on the Leinart bandwagon? (1 Viewer)

I'm hearing good things about Matt Leinart, but it doesn't seem to be raising my confidence level any. I've even heard things like "rave reviews"

I'd like to see him succeed, but I haven't been inspired by him so far. He made appearances in 8 games last year, started 1. He had 0 touchdowns to 3 interceptions. Small sample set, of course...

The biggest things he has going for him are 1) he has Larry Fitzgerald to throw the ball to 2) right now he is a starter and 3) His competition is Derek Anderson. I don't think I could take him as a QB2, but I also can't rule him out completely.

Is anyone out there buying into Leinart at this point?

Not yet. I thought I remember him getting "rave" reviews before- only to come out poorly once the season started. I ended up trading him in the offseason for Cutler and Kolb.

Sounds like drafting him may have actually worked out pretty well for you, especially if you still have Kolb.

I think you'll have to take as your qb2 if you want him. I don't think he'll have a problem holding off Anderson fwiw. I'm not real excited about his prospects - even in the nfc west & the majority of his games in ideal weather conditions.

He just doesn't seem to process things on the field quick enough.

I'm not on the Leinart bandwagon, BUT I am on the Fitz isn't going to be derailed by Leinart bandwagon . . . baby steps

Everyone leave my boy Hacim alone, he's trying to feel his way around, signed in yesterday

Hacim, I don't think you can put much stock in Leinart, even after the top QBs are off the board I like a few others over him in the QB2-1st wave...guys like Kolb, McNabb, Favre, Flacco, I have a lot more faith in their abilities. If you wait forever on a QB, and if you want to really gamble then I might pair Leinart with (gulp), Jason Campbell.

Leinart hasn't finished a season with more TDs than INts, that's not a good sign. Add in a real threat of a running game with Wells/Hightower and I think Leinart will be hard pressed to throw for more than 3600/20 Tds...that to me would be about his ceiling. The OL in AZ is not that great either and Leinart getting rattled in the pocket is not a good idea.

I would try to let Leinart onto someone else's team. Let someone else take that risk, not you.

Your gonna love this place Hacim, it gets addicting and if you go in the search function and type up players names you will lose yourself for many hours.

Another great place for stats is www.pro-football-reference.com

 MOP and welcome Hacim to the best FF forum you'll ever find.

As for Leinart, I guess it really depends on the cost. He's going to be a marginal QB2 until he manages to prove otherwise. Anyone hoping for anything close to Warner in that offense will likely be disapointed. And the relative cost will come down to ADP (assuming we're talking about redraft here). I'm guessing maybe 11-13th round in most standard 12 team leagues.

But, there is some degree of hope if the kid grows up and takes advantage of the opportunity in front of him. Maybe he has cut back on the hot tub parties w/ teenagers.

He is walking into one of the better supporting offensive situations in the NFL. I agree w/ MOP that about 3500 and 20-22 is his ceiling this year. He'll have to learn how to read defenses and process better, along w/ limiting his turnovers. I'd think the coaching staff will bring him along slowly to start the season.

I am in the camp (maybe the only camper) who think DA could be a real threat to his job. Now, I don't think it will matter how either plays in the preseason (Leinart will get the early nod), but as bad as DA has been the last 2 1/3 year, he put up pinball numbers on a crummy team (and remember, they traded Frye after game 1 that year, so he did not even start that season as the #1). I don't think he is a worldbeater or anything like that; but i also KNOW he never had a team the the AZ Cards and two good RBs and an elite WR without butter on his hands. I see no reason why he couldn't come in after game 3 (with little pressure) and do some damage for the rest of 2010.

Nope. I think Fitz will have a setback, not much, but a setback. I think they develop into a more balanced team running the ball more. I don't think Breston fills the Boldin void and another 1000 yard season. I'm just not feeling it.

No kidding. Leinart showed great accuracy in the college championship games but hasn't done well in the NFL yet. I'm not on the bandwagon.

I traded him for a 2011 2nd rounder and was happy to get it. Then I picked Anderson up off the waiver wire.

The upside due to situation is there, but Leinart just doesn't seem to be starting caliber. We'll see how things go before the season starts...
