Apologies - Forums running very slow (1 Viewer)

Hi Folks,

Apologies as our forums are continuing to run very slow.

We've got an escalated ticket in with https://xenforo.com/ that hosts the forums. We pay them for using the software and also to host the forums and they are working on the issue. They are normally very responsive and we hope to have a solution soon.

Please give this post a "like" or thumbsup if you're experiencing the slow performance as well.

Too soon?

Not really. Lots of people had fun with our troubles with the Postal Service on this. it was super painful and very costly with thousands of dollars in refunds we gave, but I get it for some. All good.

I don't think me calling it out was the reason. It had been something they'd been working on for a few days. It went from slow to basically unusable and I think got escalated up their customer service chain.

Once I get it to load the first time it seems ok but I've given up on waiting for the site to load coming from another page a few times the past couple days and almost did again now.

This time we were able to examine the symptoms more closely and confirm that the forums were under a distributed denial of service attack.

We added some extra protection and the problem subsided. Speed picked back up and we turned all the features on.

Hopefully that'll help us deflect those attacks in the future. We'll continue monitoring.

Yes - sometimes when we turn off the features to reduce load, the system doesn't finish updating the templates properly when it removes the visible elements of the feature. I think that process times out under stress.

Agreed. I've given up on what motivates some people. Just seems so odd.
