As a fan, what bothers you the most about the Lockout? (1 Viewer)

What bothers me most? I really like NFL football & there ain't none.

Why wait until too late? Nobody anticipated an end to the CBA???

"We just want to get back to playing football." Then what's with the lawsuits?

There is only one path to a new CBA, negotiations between THE UNION and the owners. Neither functions without the other.

"An eighteen game season endangers the health of the players." Lessee... 60 plays a game, each lasting 5-6 seconds, times 18 games a season is just over a thousand plays and maybe a hundred hours of "work" a year. Sux to be you.

Both sides waited until the end of the CBA to try to leverage more money. There is no UNION.An eighteen game season is alot to ask of players, particularly if you are going to tell them to play two more games per year and keep their pay the same.

Wait for leverage and you get a work stoppage. Period. Never fails. Conclusion: this is what everyone wants.Again... THE ONLY PATH TO A NEW CBA is negotiations between the union & the owners. There is no other way. It will happen eventually. (The CBA makes the league legal.)

Eighteen games (versus, say 162) isn't much to ask of someone who loves to play. Don't forget that they're eliminating two pre-season games. So, adding MAYBE ten minutes of gametime play is what they're griping about??? Get serious!

Lessee....Eliminate 16 & 17 because most of those are probably minor & just due to the season ending. That alone flattens the curve. Explain how there are more whap-splat-season-ending injuries (ex: acl tears) later rather than earlier unless it's a furthering of an already injured player. The fact that more players are put on IR later in the season has more to do with the fact that IR ends their season, IMO.

Again There is no union right now. The Players Union decertified weeks ago.Your point on the eighteen game season makes no sense. 10 minutes of gametime? So your stance is that in a 16 game season players are involved in 80 minutes of gametime?

No question that the union decertified. They will be back & everyone knows it.Yes, and no. 60 plays at 5-6 seconds a play is actually less than ten minutes of physical action per game. Doesn't seem right, but that's how the math works out. (I'm going to double-check this.) The TEN MINUTES is derived from that calc plus the elimination of two pre-season games which, presumably, they would play in to some smaller extent.

Another Fallacy (I think): The players would be playing more games and not making more money.

They get a percentage of the revenues. I'm not sure what percentage in the old or new CBA. Neither am I sure if pre-season games count in that percentage.

However, I am sure that regular season games do count. So, either they are currently not getting paid for pre-season and two of those "freebies" are going away, or they do get paid for those games and would make the same money (or better) for the regular season games taking their place.
