ADP, LT, Westbrook, Steven Jackson are all better to name a few

28 yds in the 2d half. Not exactly impressive.

Honestly I don't get this.

I don't think Marion Barber is going to have a long career. Guy is going to break down fast with that style of play.

I'm thinking maybe not. Guy is a monster.J
The amazing thing to me is that it's at least half attitude. Which is to say I doubt the reason he is so hard to tackle is because he's so much stronger/balanced/whatever than any other RB in the league. It's because when you go to tackle him he's like "You and what army, Nancy?"

Only other guy I've seen with that attitude is Mike Alstott, and Barber's obviously got him beat on talent.

Joe, Barber may be a great back but I sure wish he would stop beating himself on the chest and jumping up and down when he gets a first down. Now when he gets stuffed, which happened quite a bit today, and I was the tackler I would beat myself on the chest. As the real pros say, act like you have done it before.

I don't think many would want to be the first to try to tackle him, and he IS good, I would easily put in him "top ten" but if he keeps running as a "punisher" he will eventually get himself hurt.

More physical? Probably not.Better? Easily. Doesn't make people miss, doesn't have explosive breakaway speed. You're picking an all star team to face the Pats, and you're taking Barber to start at RB? I doubt it. Not to mention he has hands of stone.LT is still #1. Westbrook #2. SJAX/AP close in. Then it starts to get messy.

By watching his second half, I'm wondering if the Dallas coaching staff was right all along. He's better with a limited number of carries.

I agree 100%. The guy is good and runs with a ton of heart and attitude, but I can really do without all the chest thumping.

 When 2 separate coaching staffs come to the same conclusion, there may be something to it even though our "eyes" tell us something different on Sundays.

LT2

ADP

Westy

SJax (if healthy)

At least.

Don't let a good game against the Giants rush D fool you. The Giants have been very good at times and very soft others.

Giants rush D is very Good. Barber had a decent day ... very good couple of runs and a bogus TD (he was stopped) in the first half and he sucked the rest of the game.

are you for real? he had a good day, yes, but the best RB in the game? please..! he can't hold Brian Westbrook's jockstrap. Or LT's, or LJ's, etc..when Barber scores 17-20 TDs and rushes for 1700+ yards in the same season, then I'll drink the Kool Aid.now he could be the opening day starter next season so maybe he becomes a *stud* RB, but he had a good game with a terrific O-line against a defense that is just OK against the run..this isn't the next Barry Sander's or Priest Holmes..

I think this may be why he hasn't been a full-time back. Coaches gotta be afraid of him hurting himself.
I agree with all of the above...I hope he doesn't end up like the Tyler Rose.Everyone marveled at Earl Campbell's style too and look how he's ended up.....it's really sad.

JB, this entire thread is awful.

1. The original post is terrible. Grant ran harder, made more plays, and was better statistically last weekend. Overall, LT, Adrian Peterson, Jackson and Westbrook are all miles above where Barber is right now.

2. For those responding, correlation doesn't always mean causation. Stop with the "Marion shuts down after 20 carries" talk just because he had one mediocre second half. Your sample size is WAY too small to be putting those judgments on him.

But, there's a good lesson here for the future. One of the biggest ways to capitalize in fantasy football is to take the psychological effects of the postseason away. The first psychological effect is the "big game" effect. Just because a player happens to do well in a playoff game or the Super Bowl doesn't mean it holds true for the rest of his career. Players like Deion Branch, etc. get bumped up all the time because of one or two big playoff games, and then people are disappointed.

Secondly, the "recency effect" takes hold as well. Did you know that if you have five candidates for a job, the chances of you hiring the last candidate are 80%? Think about that. Eighty percent, when it should be twenty. That's how our brains are wired. Now, take the big game effect, add on the fact that these are the most recent games we'll see before next year's draft, and add onto the fact that we'll be seeing highlights of these games for the next eight months.

I'll make a stand right now and say Ryan Grant and Marion Barber (and more) will be overrated next year because of their monster games in the playoffs.
